Night Demon is an Immortal Temple operative whose failed assignment against Su Chen develops into a durable friendship and working partnership. Although she begins as a low-ranking assassin, her reliability as Su Chen’s chosen contact makes her an increasingly important intermediary between him and the Temple. Her guileless loyalty repeatedly proves more valuable than the secrecy and calculation expected of her profession.

Biography

From intended assassin to trusted intermediary

Night Demon first enters Su Chen’s life as an ordinary Immortal Temple executant assigned to kill him after he discovers the Spirit Burying Terrace. Su Chen protects himself by arranging for the Temple’s secret to be exposed if he dies, forcing the relationship away from assassination and toward negotiation. When she later retrieves the Origin Tools that helped him survive the Scarlet Mountain Range, she gives him her codename and becomes the approachable face of an organization he still has reason to distrust. (Chapters 43, 105, and 728)

The new arrangement quickly becomes more personal than her original orders. Night Demon supplies cultivation techniques and equipment on the Temple’s behalf, reveals that she is a woman after Su Chen has already deduced it, and warns him against the fatal overconfidence of surviving the Scarlet Mountain Range once. Her warning does not make him abandon his return trip, but it corrects his attitude and prompts greater preparation. At the same time, his repeated bargaining turns her from a potential killer into a familiar contact who can argue, eat, and conduct business in his room without treating every exchange as a mortal confrontation. That familiarity is tested in the campaign against the Shadow Mountain Troops. Night Demon helps secure the battlefield, offers to protect Su Chen, infiltrates the bandits’ stronghold to locate escape routes and storage areas, kills the fleeing bandits, and captures a woman who can reveal the treasury. She then accepts a separate paid task to switch medicines for Su Chen’s clan scheme. The work shows that beneath her comic credulity she is dependable in a clearly defined mission, while their shared danger makes their conversation and trust noticeably easier. When the Hidden Dragon enrollment examination obstructs the opening of the Spirit Burying Terrace, Night Demon is again the messenger who must persuade Su Chen to take the Temple’s place inside. His fear that the organization will silence him after recovering its prize forces her to carry his demands for genuine good faith to her superiors. She brings him to Sang Zhen and the Temple’s local base, is shocked to learn that his blindness has already ended, and later defends him when their plan fails under public observation. The episode leaves her no longer merely managing a hostage-like bargain: she is helping preserve an uneasy alliance whose survival depends on mutual trust. (Chapters 105, 110–112, 124, and 151)

Long Coiling and tested loyalties

At Su Chen’s request, Night Demon relocates to Long Coiling City as his designated contact, but the Hidden Dragon Institute is beyond the safe limit of her concealment. Shut out of the place where he spends most of his time, she visits the Agarwood Pavilion instead and complains that he has forgotten her. Her formal responsibility is to monitor the alchemical progress funded by the Temple and arrange exchanges of ingredients and medicine, yet her eagerness to see him and willingness to help with smaller troubles make the role increasingly resemble friendship rather than surveillance. That friendship acquires real risk when Yue Longsha attacks Night Demon because of her Immortal Temple identity. Su Chen intervenes, drives the attacker away, and escorts Night Demon back to her organization after warning that her cover may have been exposed. Night Demon then joins the force that captures the Hidden Dragon students Su Chen wants for experiments, fighting Bai Ou until Iron Cliff assists her. These events place her between the Temple’s violent reputation, enemies who hold her personally responsible for it, and a friend whose own choices are becoming morally dangerous. Internal Temple politics later threaten the partnership more directly. After Ma Renze tries to coerce Su Chen over the Spirit Sobering Medicine, Su Chen insists that Night Demon remain his contact rather than allowing the hostile faction to control their dealings. She continues transporting medicines and ingredients, sometimes noticing flaws in Su Chen’s schemes before talking herself out of her suspicions. When he asks what she would do if he and the Temple became enemies, she decides that she would warn him, surrender herself for punishment, and thereby refuse both to betray a friend and to desert her organization. Night Demon describes herself during this period as a member of the low-class Moon Race with no noble status. Much later, the corpus reveals that her mother is Night Elegance, empress of the matriarchal Moonkin, making Night Demon a princess. That revelation changes the interpretation of her background without erasing her low institutional position: she truly began in the Immortal Temple as a statusless executant, and her unusual rise within it comes later through her work with Su Chen. Clear River and an enduring partnership

By the time Su Chen takes office in Clear River City, Night Demon openly laments that meeting him has transformed her dream of becoming the “king of assassins” into a career as his personal messenger. Nevertheless, she follows him and negotiates a revision of his debt to the Temple. She explains that much of the organization now wants an ordinary life rather than indiscriminate terror, while still defending its need for targeted offensive medicines. Her role has therefore expanded beyond delivery: she communicates policy, answers Su Chen’s ethical objections, and helps keep cooperation aligned with the Temple faction willing to bargain rather than threaten. Her skills and personal commitment both grow during the Clear River years. She proudly demonstrates Smoke Transformation when entering through a window, then immediately offers as much as one hundred thousand Origin Stones of her own savings when Su Chen asks the Temple for an enormous loan. Although she cannot provide the five hundred million he actually needs, she offers to borrow from others before knowing his collateral or purpose. She then brings Shi Mingfeng to negotiate the larger transaction, once again turning personal trust into a practical bridge between Su Chen and the organization. (Chapters 447–448)

As Su Chen’s official term ends, Night Demon brings a new proposal rather than demanding repayment: the Temple wants to purchase specialized medicines for an expedition to West Laina Castle, where it believes relics of Kapius remain hidden. The partnership thus moves from intermittent courier work to a shared expedition in which her safety, loyalties, and place among the Temple’s operatives are exposed to direct pressure. West Laina Castle and doubts of usefulness

The West Laina expedition places Night Demon inside a divided Immortal Temple team. Kong Cheng attempts to drug and assault her, but the Bewitching Incense inexplicably fails and she confronts him with a weapon until Shi Mingfeng and Su Chen arrive. Su Chen publicly protects her and threatens harsher consequences if Kong Cheng tries again. When the infiltration of the castle collapses and He Xu remains trapped inside, Night Demon refuses Kong Cheng’s demand to withdraw, declaring that she will not abandon either He Xu or Su Chen merely because continuing has become dangerous. Night Demon subsequently assists Su Chen’s deception inside the castle, even when his instructions require her to wound him so that his disguised identity will survive scrutiny. She is frightened by the task and misjudges the depth more than once, but deliberately avoids his vital points and worries about his survival afterward. Her imperfect execution becomes part of a successful cover story rather than a betrayal, illustrating the unusual shape of their trust: Su Chen relies on her sincerity and obedience even when he cannot rely on precision. After West Laina, the Immortal Temple uses Night Demon’s access to approach Su Chen at Flowing Gold Fort. She brings evidence that its foreign contacts can help him search for Shi Kaihuang and the stranded Heavenly Might Battalion, allowing Shi Mingfeng to negotiate information, maps, and access to the Rejuvenating Door in return for one of Su Chen’s techniques. The Temple later sends her across the border to establish trade with the Heavenly Might Battalion. By then she has reached the Yang Opening Realm and risen to viscount, an extraordinary promotion from her old executant status. Night Demon helps locate Su Chen deep in hostile territory, accompanies his resource-gathering operations, and accepts a medicine-derived transformation into a red fox for entry into a Demonic Emperor’s palace. Her inability to maintain a convincing cover nearly exposes the group when she boasts about human techniques and names Su Chen, after which he resolves not to use her for such infiltration again. Even so, she reaches the Heavenly Might Battalion with the others, and a later account of her former rank underscores how far the friendship-driven courier has risen from expendable assassin to protected diplomatic asset. The sea mission and the Moonkin revelation

Night Demon next appears at the Boundless Sect as a Light Shaking Realm cultivator carrying Shi Mingfeng’s request that the Immortal Temple openly support Su Chen’s sea campaign. Su Chen avoids giving her an immediate answer, so she insists that Ye Fenghan and Chang He take her to him and offers to help with their missions first. They cannot shake her pursuit and reluctantly accept, turning a failed diplomatic meeting into a field assignment driven by her refusal to return without a clear response. (Chapters 924–925)

During that journey, Night Demon proves more effective in a crisis than her companions expect. She rescues civilians from towering waves, wounds a Blood Frenzy Shark with Invisible Slaughter, and spends powerful one-use protections without hesitation to keep the group alive. Her curiosity then leads her to pull Lin Zuiliu from the sea while searching for a shell. Although the King of Chaos captures and toys with the three travelers, Night Demon’s persistence and irreverent familiarity eventually persuade him to accompany them, delivering to Su Chen a cultivator and bloodline researcher whom the Boundless Sect had been unable to find. The resulting alliance gives her original mission consequences far beyond a simple message. Night Demon escorts Lin Zuiliu to the Immortal Temple and then to the Moonkin homeland, where the revelation that Night Elegance is her mother establishes her as the Moonkin princess. Appearance and personality

Night Demon is a young Moonkin woman with a delicate, attractive, slightly pale face, large eyes, a sharp chin, a slightly upturned nose, and an oval face. She initially conceals both her face and sex beneath black clothing, a veil, and an altered voice, but later stops wearing the veil around Su Chen. Her Moonkin heritage is associated with nocturnal movement and an instinctive ability to blend into darkness. (Chapters 43–46 and 182–184)

She is cheerful, food-loving, proud, guileless, and famously poor at keeping secrets. Her assumptions are often comically wrong, and her excitement can ruin careful infiltration, yet she is not cowardly or malicious. When circumstances become serious she rescues civilians, stands by endangered companions, and accepts personal punishment rather than imagining that loyalty requires betraying either friend or organization. Her insecurity about being unintelligent and dispensable coexists with a strong need to be useful, liked, and trusted. (Chapters 255, 351, 517, 557, 679, and 932–933)

Abilities and cultivation

Night Demon develops from an experienced Qi Drawing assassin into a Light Shaking cultivator whose strongest demonstrated qualities are concealment and speed. The corpus provides several named techniques and clear examples of their effects, but it rarely explains how she learned them, their precise energy costs, or formal progression stages.

Cultivation and Moonkin traits

Night Demon is already a high-layer Qi Drawing cultivator during the Shadow Mountain operation and is described later as experienced despite possessing no inherited beast bloodline. Invisible Slaughter is a high-speed offensive technique. Night Demon flickers across a Blood Frenzy Shark, reappears beyond it, and leaves a long wound across its back, using the strike to draw pressure away from Chang He. The scene demonstrates rapid approach, cutting force, and a rescue application, but does not identify the weapon or energy pattern involved, its acquisition, its cost, or whether it is one of the three body techniques. Air Tentacles and practical combat limits

Night Demon can project an Air Tentacle below the surface of the sea and use it to retrieve a distant target without diving. Unexplained resistance and item-derived protection

Bewitching Incense fails to incapacitate Night Demon when Kong Cheng enters her room, but the narration explicitly leaves the reason unknown. The episode does not establish general poison immunity, a Moonkin resistance, or a named defensive technique. Later, an automatically activating protective pendant slows and stops a lethal strike before it reaches her, and disposable Golden Ball Barrages severely wound a Blood Frenzy Shark.
