Cicle
Cicle is the head of the Illumination Clan and one of the Light Faction's dominant leaders. He moves from tournament oversight to an attempted takeover of the Light Empire under Heino's influence, then fights in the coalition war with a technique-copying Alter sword until Safa kills him.
Biography
Tournament Authority
Cicle first appears among the Light Faction heads monitoring the inter-faction tournament. He helps assess rule breaches, unusual weapons, and threats to the arena, and later escorts the Demonic Faction delegation away from Light territory. These scenes establish him as both an Illumination Clan leader and an organizer with authority extending beyond his own clan. (Chapters 628, 666, and 677)
The Light Faction Coup
Cicle and Kawak call the Light clans into an emergency assembly and argue that the faction must absorb the ordinary population and eliminate imperial leadership to preserve its “utopia.” When dissenting leaders remain, Cicle joins Kawak in killing them, then advances on the palace. He recognizes the empire may have prepared defenses against warrior rule, but fear of failing Heino helps keep the coup moving even after Divine warriors appear. (Chapters 1107–1111)
The encounter shows both Cicle's skill and his limits. His sun-like visual Qi blinds a Divine warrior long enough to cut her shoulder, yet superior projectile-Qi control and teamwork force him to his knees. He later remains among Heino's principal battlefield leaders, ready to intervene against Raze when ordered but accepting Heino's command to wait for a more favorable moment. (Chapters 1111 and 1207)
Alter's Sword and Final Battle
Cicle receives one of Heino's legendary swords from Alter. Against Raze Cromwell, its three ring-shaped blades reproduce a sword attack exactly, including Raze's Dark Magic, despite Cicle having no magic of his own. During the final war he uses the weapon's stored techniques against Liam and Safa, combining them with his own clan skill and powerful Qi. (Chapters 1181 and 1234)
Safa's God Eyes read Cicle's Qi flow before his larger copied attacks can form, while her healing negates the cuts from his quicker techniques. Cicle finally reproduces Raze's Eclipse Strike, but Safa blocks it and drives her spear through his stomach. The next chapter calls him fallen; Safa gives his technique-copying sword to Liam for use on the battlefield. (Chapters 1235–1236)
Appearance and personality
The corpus gives no stable description of Cicle's face, age, or ordinary clothing. His most distinctive visual markers are combat effects: a glowing sun forms above or behind him when he uses Illumination visual Qi, and his later Alter weapon has three circular, edged sections stacked above a normal handle. (Chapters 1111 and 1181)
Cicle is politically calculating and willing to cloak coercion in idealistic language. He smiles inwardly as Kawak persuades other leaders to accept violence, executes dissenters, and prioritizes faction unity over consent. In combat he is experienced enough to change from large copied techniques to quick attacks when Safa disrupts him, but becomes frustrated when her combined perception and healing close off both approaches. (Chapters 1107–1108 and 1235)
Magic, cultivation, and abilities
Illumination Clan cultivation
Cicle is a high-level Qi swordsman and clan head. His Illumination visual Qi forms a bright sun-like circle that can flood a small area with blinding light, creating an opening for his blade. He can project a straight line of Qi and use clan sword techniques defensively or offensively. Divine-realm opponents expose a limitation in his development: he has not mastered projectile Qi at their level, and their ranged shards can bypass his preferred close-range control. (Chapters 1111 and 1234–1235)
Technique-copying Alter sword
Cicle's most spectacular later attacks are item-derived. The ring-bladed Alter sword records and exactly reproduces sword techniques it has witnessed, including the technique's demonstrated strength and attached magic. It copies Dawnblade defenses, Liam's Void Pulse, and Raze's Dark-Magic Eclipse Strike even though Cicle is explicitly not a mage. The weapon still requires him to take a stance and initiate the copied move, allowing Safa's God Eyes to read his Qi flow and interrupt large activations. It does not protect him from stronger close pressure or healing-supported attrition, and it passes to Liam after Cicle's death. (Chapters 1181 and 1234–1236)
Relationships
- Kawak: Cicle shares leadership of the Light Faction coup with Kawak, kills dissenters beside him, and fights with him against the empire's Divine defenders.
- Heino: Heino supplies Cicle's Alter sword and directs his battlefield conduct. Cicle's fear of failing him helps bind him to the coup and war.
- Safa: Safa counters Cicle's cultivation and borrowed techniques, kills him with her spear, and claims his sword before transferring it to Liam.
- Liam: Cicle initially overpowers Liam's imitated techniques with exact copies, but Liam receives the sword after Safa wins.
- Raze Cromwell: Cicle joins the forces opposing Raze and uses an item capable of reproducing Raze's own Dark-Magic sword technique.
Items
- Technique-copying Alter sword: A legendary, three-ringed sword given by Heino. It reproduces witnessed sword techniques, their power, and even attached magic. Safa takes it after killing Cicle and gives it to Liam in Chapter 1236; no separate approved item article exists for it.
