Ibarin

Ibarin—occasionally spelled Ibrain in the supplied corpus—is a wind-specialist Grand Magus and principal of Central Mage Academy. Once Raze Cromwell's colleague and friend, he frames Raze to secure position and prestige, then uses his control of Alterian education to protect the Grand Magus order. Betrayal and academy power

Ibarin is named among the five Grand Magi at Raze's final Alterian ritual. Raze's memories establish that they were once fellow professors and that Ibarin gave false testimony, complete with staged grief, during the proceedings that destroyed Raze's career. The betrayal turns professional ambition into persecution and leaves Ibarin occupying the academy position Raze believes was never rightfully his. (Chapters 1, 89, and 318–325)

As principal, Ibarin controls Central Academy and influences mage education across countries through boards and feeder schools.
