Elaine Moonlight is the fourth queen of the Demon King, the ruler of the lycanthropes, and the mother of Chris and Caitlin. Her guarded alliance with In-gong is motivated by protecting her children and her people, while her command of the Blood Companions makes her an important leader in the final defense of the Demon World.

Biography

Lycanthrope Queen and Mother

Elaine rules a species kingdom as well as belonging to the Demon King's family, and she educates Chris and Caitlin largely in the lycanthrope palace rather than pushing either child toward the succession. Her most dangerous domestic threat is her brother Gerard, the former heir imprisoned after a bloody struggle twenty years earlier. When he escapes and attacks her children, Elaine leaves palace security to reach them, quietly investigates the organization behind the escape, and regrets that affection or hesitation kept her from killing Gerard when she once had the chance. In-gong's role in saving Chris and Caitlin therefore earns immediate gratitude and makes him a possible answer to her wider political fears. (Chapters 77–85)

Elaine asks In-gong to consider becoming demon king, then promises lycanthrope support when he decides to pursue the throne. Her reasoning is openly pragmatic: candidates backed by larger maternal peoples could reduce the lycanthropes' status, while In-gong needs allies and claims he wants to protect what matters to him. She warns that their connection is still weak and must be built gradually rather than treated as unconditional loyalty. Her later conduct follows that bargain—she sends elite lycanthropes to Evian, aids the royal children around Spider Forest, appears publicly at the palace, and rewards In-gong for ending Gerard's threat. Royal Alliance and Final War

Elaine continues advising In-gong through the changing royal balance, warning him about the other queens and making her alignment visible even at court. The Demon King's final command then turns strategy into grief: while running toward the attacked palace, she understands that he is sacrificing himself and weeps, but still returns to her responsibility as a ruler. When the red dragon approaches, her beast instincts demand immediate transformation, yet she delays because an early lycanthrope charge would commit every queen's army before the correct moment. Her restraint shows the same principle that governs her politics—personal feeling matters, but a queen cannot let it decide the fate of her people alone. (Chapters 176, 184, 219, and 224)

Once battle begins, Elaine commands the coalition's troops, enters blue-wolf Beast Form, and advances with Ludwig and Bruce when the Sanctuary is threatened. She concentrates the Blood Companions' aura to destroy one breath pillar, then combines with Sylvia to break further attacks aimed at In-gong, continuing until she coughs blood and can no longer repeat the defense. She survives, accepts In-gong's command after his ascension, and joins the former queens and royal family in arranging the new court. The later reconciliation between Chris and Silvan also confirms that an old childhood accident never became a conflict between Elaine and Sylvia. (Chapters 225–231)

Appearance and personality

Elaine has blue eyes and the appearance of a woman in her mid-twenties. Her hair is described as ebony-black at her first meeting with In-gong and as dark blue later, a color difference the corpus does not explain. Her face closely resembles Caitlin's, though Elaine has a more mature and alluring build; they can look more like sisters than mother and daughter. She often wears fitted blue dresses. Elaine is a powerful lycanthrope who uses aura and can transform into a large wolf with blue fur. Once transformed, she advances through the front with other elite lycanthropes.   • Caitlin: Elaine is deeply protective of Caitlin, whose safety drives her response to Gerard and her gratitude toward In-gong.
