Heavenly Flames

Heavenly Flames are rare natural fires whose value reaches far beyond unusually high temperature. Individual flames can possess special effects, resist or suppress lesser fire, improve alchemical refinement, transform a cultivator's Dou Qi, and—in sufficiently developed cases—act with recognizable intelligence. The corpus treats them as a category rather than a single organization: they have no shared government, collective agenda, or universal allegiance. Their common significance comes from the competition to find, contain, refine, inherit, or survive them. (Chapters 63–64, 199–235, 457–475, and 1494–1524)

For Xiao Yan, Heavenly Flames become the backbone of an entire cultivation path. The initially low-ranked Flame Mantra can evolve by assimilating them, while his alchemical training gives him the control needed to do more than release raw heat. Each acquisition therefore changes several systems at once: his Qi Method rises, his Dou Qi gains new qualities, his pill-refining fire improves, and new combinations become possible. The same process repeatedly threatens to burn his pathways, body, or consciousness away. Heavenly Flame power is never presented as a safe collectible reward. (Chapters 64–68, 226–235, 616–625, and 1195–1207)

Their history also becomes a history of custody and agency. The Bone Chilling Flame is deliberately transferred by teacher to disciple; the Green Lotus Core Flame is taken after Queen Medusa's ritual; Jia Nan Academy confines the intelligent Fallen Heart Flame and draws cultivation benefits from its divided fire; the Sea Heart Flame passes through a chain whose middle transfer is not shown and whose final transfer is forcible; the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame rules its own sealed realm until an ancient remnant erases its hostile intelligence. Nature, ranking, and operating principles

A category of distinct natural fires

A Heavenly Flame is not merely ordinary fire intensified by cultivation. The known examples have individual appearances and functions: the Bone Chilling Flame surrounds intense heat with an icy sensation; the Green Lotus Core Flame forms deep underground in a green lotus; the Fallen Heart Flame ignites invisible Heart Flame inside cultivators; the Sea Heart Flame takes fluid blue forms; the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame specializes in purification, illusion, and realm-scale control; and Nihility Devouring Flame absorbs energy, souls, and flame power. These properties remain recognizable even when a skilled wielder reshapes the flame for alchemy or combat. (Chapters 63–64, 199–200, 457–458, 599, 1494–1519, and 1536–1538)

The corpus explicitly identifies a hierarchy for at least the highest flames, calling Nihility Devouring Flame second-ranked and Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame third-ranked. It also repeatedly treats one Heavenly Flame as capable of intimidating or suppressing another according to strength and control. It does not, however, supply a complete, reliable ranking table for every flame in the local articles. A comprehensive numbered list would therefore go beyond the supplied evidence. Formation, intelligence, and resistance

Some flames form through extraordinary natural conditions over very long periods. The Green Lotus Core Flame grows in a subterranean magma environment through accumulated fire energy, pressure, and time. The Bone Chilling Flame appears under a rare conjunction of extreme cold and Yin conditions. Those origin accounts demonstrate that Heavenly Flames can arise without an owner, but they do not establish one universal creation process for the whole category. (Chapters 63–64 and 199–201)

Time and power can also produce intelligence. The Fallen Heart Flame develops into an enormous invisible python that remembers enemies and actively seeks escape and nourishment. The Three Thousand Burning Flame appears as a sentient dragon-shaped flame in the Star Region. The Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame receives human intelligence from the Purifying Lotus Demonic Saint and becomes the calculating ruler of a sealed realm. Nihility Devouring Flame speaks, strategizes, conceals the Hun Realm, and preserves leverage against its allies. Their personalities are not interchangeable, and sentience does not make them members of one species-wide faction. (Chapters 474–475, 586–615, 1195–1207, 1494–1519, and 1536–1590)

Refinement is consequently more than absorbing energy. An unrefined flame can revolt, consume the prospective wielder, or retain a will that rejects containment. Medicines, cold resources, compatible platforms, seals, soul strength, cultivation rank, and the Flame Mantra all appear as safeguards in different cases. Even after Yao Lao removes his imprint from the Bone Chilling Flame, residual resistance means Xiao Yan must let it accept him gradually. Loss of hostile intelligence likewise does not make the Purifying Demonic Lotus essence harmless: its heat nearly incinerates Xiao Yan during the two-year refinement with Xun Er. Flame Mantra and controlled coexistence

Flame Mantra is the method that makes Xiao Yan's multi-flame path possible. He selects it while it is still low class because its capacity to evolve offers a route beyond his immediate limits. Assimilating the Green Lotus Core Flame raises it substantially; the Fallen Heart Flame, later acquisitions, and the Sea Heart Flame continue that development until the method reaches low Tian class. The gains are cumulative, but later flames produce smaller immediate cultivation jumps as Xiao Yan's own realm rises. (Chapters 64–68, 226–235, 621–625, and 1487–1497)

The method also governs coexistence. Normally, contact between powerful unlike flames risks rejection or mutual consumption. Xiao Yan learns to merge the Green Lotus Core and Fallen Heart Flames into the Glazed Lotus Heart Flame while retaining the ability to separate them. He later carries five genuine Heavenly Flames and incorporates the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame into the fused spirit manifested as Little Yi. These states belong to Xiao Yan's trained system; they do not prove that independent Heavenly Flames naturally cooperate. (Chapters 624, 638–639, 1497, and 1521–1525)

Chronological history

Yao Lao's inheritance and the first search

The earliest Heavenly Flame directly shaping Xiao Yan's path is Yao Lao's Bone Chilling Flame. Yao Lao spent eight years waiting for its appearance and nearly burned to ashes while assimilating it. In soul form he uses the dense white fire for pill refinement, combat, and protection, including wrapping Xiao Yan against subterranean magma. The flame therefore enters the story first as proof of the teacher's mastery and as borrowed protection, not as Xiao Yan's possession. (Chapters 63–64, 152, and 199)

Yao Lao's explanation of Flame Mantra gives the search a strategic purpose. Xiao Yan needs a true Heavenly Flame if the method is to fulfill its potential, and he wants power that does not depend on Yao Lao temporarily controlling his body. The search for the Green Lotus Core Flame in the Tager Desert is consequently both cultivation and independence. Hai Bodong's information, Qing Lin's serpent connection, and the underground discovery of an emptied lotus establish that Queen Medusa has already removed the target for her own evolution. (Chapters 162–218)

Queen Medusa uses the flame's destructive power to burn her old body and awaken an ancient bloodline. After the ritual, Xiao Yan collects the unattended Green Lotus Core Flame on its original platform. A Blood Lotus Pill, Icy Spirit Cold Fountain, Acceptance Spirit, the green platform, Yao Lao's protection, and intervention by the Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python all contribute to his survival. Refinement evolves Flame Mantra and makes the green fire his first true Heavenly Flame. (Chapters 209–235)

That success immediately creates a new technique and a new danger. Under pressure while rescuing Qing Lin, Xiao Yan forces unlike flames together and produces the first Angry Buddha Lotus Flame. The explosion saves him but devastates his defenses and drives Yao Lao into deep sleep. The episode establishes the pattern for later fire-lotus techniques: extraordinary output comes from controlled incompatibility, and a failure of control can injure allies or user as readily as the target. (Chapters 241 and 257–272)

The Fallen Heart Flame and Jia Nan Academy

Jia Nan Academy builds the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower around divided Heart Flames drawn from the intelligent Fallen Heart Flame confined beneath it. Students experience invisible sparks inside the heart that compress and refine circulating Dou Qi. Institutionally, the system turns one imprisoned treasure into cultivation infrastructure for many disciples. The original Fire Spirit does not consent: it repeatedly strikes its cage, remembers the elders, and seeks freedom. (Chapters 457–475)

When the spirit breaks the seals, the academy fights to restore containment while Han Feng brings Black-Corner Region experts to seize it. Xiao Yan participates in the defense despite recognizing his own opportunity. The fire python sees both Han Feng's Sea Heart Flame and Xiao Yan's Green Lotus fire as nourishment, so every would-be controller is also prey. The struggle ends when it drags Xiao Yan below the broken tower into the magma world. (Chapters 585–615)

For roughly two years, Xiao Yan survives inside the flame and refines its essence with the Flame Mantra. He emerges as a Dou Wang with a merged jade-green flame and later destroys Han Feng's body. Because removing the original essence threatens the tower's training function, Xiao Yan leaves a replenishable derivative in a special container. The academy receives a weaker maintained substitute rather than restoration of the former python consciousness, while Xiao Yan retains the refined component. (Chapters 616–625 and 638–660)

Three Thousand Burning Flame and inherited transfer

The Pill Gathering gives Xiao Yan access to the sealed Three Thousand Burning Flame in the Star Region. Winning the alchemical competition proves his standing in Yao Lao's lineage, but it does not make the flame automatically obedient. Its dragon-shaped spirit resists through a soul struggle after its seal breaks. With earlier assistance connected to Zi Yan and the Pill Tower's containment, Xiao Yan subdues and incorporates it, emerging with three true Heavenly Flames. (Chapters 1119–1207)

The Bone Chilling Flame later changes hands by consent rather than conquest. While Yao Lao is imprisoned, he seals its essence in Xiao Yan as both protection and a sign that he remains alive. After receiving a new body and reaching Ban Sheng, Yao Lao decides the flame will contribute more to his disciple's Flame Mantra. He removes his spiritual imprint, instructs Xiao Yan not to force the process, and allows acceptance to develop during travel. Xiao Yan then refines it into his growing system. The complete map and the demonic-flame realm

Xiao Yan's pursuit of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame begins much earlier with scattered pieces of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame Map. The fragments pass through Hai Bodong, an auction struggle, and the spatial trade fair before the four-part parchment is assembled. Instead of giving an ordinary destination, Heavenly Flame heat reveals the celestial timing of the flame's emergence and transfers a hidden light-seal from the ancient Saint into Xiao Yan. (Chapters 120, 176–241, 392–403, and 1395–1402)

Inside the sealed realm, the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame is not a passive prize. Its white-robed consciousness controls Nightmare Heaven Fog, fire slaves, contaminated energy, sealed exits, and the Refining Sky Ancient Formation. Entrants face manufactured realities that exploit memory and desire. The inherited seal warns Xiao Yan that an apparent escape is still illusion, then manifests the Saint's remnant when the realm itself becomes a furnace. (Chapters 1494–1519)

The Saint reverses the formation and strips the hostile intelligence and memories from the flame essence. Xiao Yan then attempts refinement, but purified does not mean weak; Xun Er must enter the process to prevent his destruction. After two years, the fused system manifests Little Yi, a childlike fire spirit. The corpus does not establish Little Yi as the restored white-robed ruler. It supports a new intelligence emerging from Xiao Yan's combined flames after the old consciousness was erased. (Chapters 1519–1525)

Sea Heart Flame, Nihility, and the final formation

The Sea Heart Flame first belongs to Han Feng, whose incomplete Flame Mantra never suppresses it as securely as Xiao Yan's method suppresses his flames. After Han Feng's body is destroyed, the Hall of Souls removes his surviving soul and fire; Old Mu Gu later possesses it, but the exact transfer is absent from the supplied articles. Xiao Yan ultimately extracts it from Old Mu Gu by force in a Hall branch, swallows it, and refines it as his fifth genuine Heavenly Flame. (Chapters 599–644, 860–1196, and 1487–1497)

Nihility Devouring Flame occupies a different strategic role. As a sentient second-ranked flame, it collaborates with the Hun clan, conceals the Hun Realm, supports soul and bloodline harvesting, and sends weaker devouring seeds. Little Yi's six-flame fusion defeats one projected seed, proving that rank does not erase the importance of manifestation scale and combined control. Nihility later hides a seed in the Hun blood sea to preserve leverage, but Hun Tiandi detects the betrayal and consumes the flame. (Chapters 1536–1540, 1584–1590, and 1641–1642)

The last conflict turns Heavenly Flames from private cultivation resources into a continental sealing system. Xiao Yan accepts Tuo She's inheritance in the Heavenly Flame Square and reaches Dou Di as Flame Di. During the confrontation with Hun Tiandi, flame powers answer his formation, including a final hostile response associated with Nihility from within the power that consumed it. The formation defeats and seals Hun Tiandi. Nihility's response demonstrates surviving will or imprint through Chapter 1647, but the corpus does not confirm that the independent entity reforms afterward. (Chapters 1631–1647)

Known flames and documented roles

This table is a catalog of flames with dedicated local articles and major documented roles, not a complete canonical ranking. Other borrowed or coalition flames appear during large fusion attacks, but the corpus does not give enough stable ownership and individual history to turn every appearance into a separate profile. Capabilities and limitations

Alchemy and cultivation

Heavenly Flames offer exceptional heat and control for removing impurities, merging medicinal liquids, and sustaining high-level refinement. Their mere presence can destabilize ordinary flames, as the Sea Heart Flame does during the Pill Gathering, while stronger fused fire can suppress it in turn. These advantages still depend on the alchemist: Yao Lao's precision, Han Feng's incomplete method, Old Mu Gu's experience, and Xiao Yan's evolving soul and Flame Mantra produce different results from comparable resources. The Fallen Heart Flame shows the category's unusual cultivation potential most directly. Its divided internal spark compresses Dou Qi in the tower, and the refined flame can continue tempering its user's energy. Other flames strengthen Xiao Yan mainly through Flame Mantra assimilation and the quality of the resulting Dou Qi. No source-grounded rule says every Heavenly Flame reproduces the tower's Heart Flame effect. (Chapters 457–458, 604, and 624–625)

Combat, fusion, and domain control

Individual applications include protective coats, wings, waves, nets, internal ignition, energy absorption, illusions, slaves, and realm-scale formations. Xiao Yan's most destructive attacks instead combine several fires into Angry Buddha Lotus Flame variants. At the Yao clan ceremony he even borrows multiple clan flames to create an eight-colored lotus, making that strike coalition-enabled rather than evidence of permanent ownership. (Chapters 243, 452, 599, 1497, and 1572–1579)

Fusion imposes severe control demands. Early use incapacitates Xiao Yan and Yao Lao; later use requires stronger soul perception, a developed body, practiced Flame Mantra circulation, and sometimes Little Yi's rapid construction. The growing scale should not obscure those origins. Angry Buddha Reincarnation and the final sealing array are the mature end of years spent surviving incompatibility, not effortless benefits supplied by the flames themselves. Ownership is not absolute control

Possession language must be qualified by the mode of custody. Jia Nan Academy contains the Fallen Heart Flame without winning its loyalty. Han Feng's incomplete Flame Mantra leaves the Sea Heart Flame prone to revolt. Yao Lao can deliberately remove an imprint, while Xiao Yan can create derivatives and separate components after refinement. The Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame loses one consciousness and later contributes to a different fused spirit. Relationships and institutional significance

• Xiao Yan: His cultivation, alchemy, and identity as Flame Di are built around surviving and integrating multiple Heavenly Flames. He is not shown possessing every flame in the ranking. (Chapters 64–68 and 1631–1648)
• Yao Lao: The teacher who introduces Heavenly Flame alchemy, lends protection, and voluntarily transfers the Bone Chilling Flame. His relationship to flame power emphasizes technique and inheritance rather than hoarding. (Chapters 63–64 and 1285–1295)
• Han Feng: Yao Lao's former disciple and Sea Heart Flame wielder whose incomplete method and assault on Jia Nan Academy provide a destructive counterpart to Xiao Yan's path. (Chapters 599–644)

Legacy and unresolved evidence

Heavenly Flames connect the story's smallest and largest scales. A white fire hovering over an early medicinal cauldron introduces the precision Xiao Yan must learn; a green flame gives his low-ranked Qi Method its first major evolution; an invisible flame sustains an academy; and the final array gathers flame powers to seal a Dou Di threatening the continent. Their legacy is therefore not only Xiao Yan's attack strength. It includes institutions, apprenticeships, maps, containment systems, alchemical prestige, and the ethical difference between entrusted inheritance and treating sentient power as disposable material. Several limits remain explicit. The local corpus does not provide a complete numbered list of all Heavenly Flames, does not show exactly how the Sea Heart Flame passed from Han Feng's surviving soul to Old Mu Gu, does not establish Little Yi as the restored personality of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, and does not confirm Nihility Devouring Flame's independent survival after the final formation.
