Green Lotus Core Flame
The Green Lotus Core Flame, also called the Green Lotus Heart Flame, is a green Heavenly Flame formed deep underground through prolonged exposure to subterranean fire, pressure, and magma. Cai Lin, then known as Queen Medusa, removes it from its birthplace for a dangerous evolution ritual. Xiao Yan takes the flame after that ritual, carries it in its original lotus platform, and survives an arduous refinement that makes it his first true Heavenly Flame. (Chapters 199–235)
History
Formation and removal from the magma crypt
Xiao Yan follows the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent into a subterranean magma world and finds the green lotus in which the flame formed. The lotus has grown over thousands of years by absorbing fire energy through its roots; its core is empty, but a seven-colored snake scale reveals that Queen Medusa removed the flame roughly half a year earlier. Xiao Yan takes the associated lotus platform and seeds while leaving the roots so that the natural formation can recover over time. The platform and the flame are connected, but they remain separately scoped items. (Chapters 199–201)
Queen Medusa cannot safely absorb the fire as an ordinary cultivation resource because her bloodline inclines toward cold. Instead, she uses its destructive energy to burn her original body during a ritual intended to awaken an ancient bloodline and evolve. Lightning strikes the ritual, her former snake body is charred, and a newly born Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python emerges. The flame remains on the ritual island after this transformation. (Chapters 209 and 214–218)
Xiao Yan's removal and refinement
Xiao Yan uses the green lotus platform to collect the flame because both originate from the same source. The platform lowers the flame's exposed temperature and carries it without the continuous expenditure that an external Dou Qi wrapping would require. He then transports it openly on the platform, avoiding a Storage Ring because its heat could destroy the ring's contents. (Chapter 218)
In an isolated cave, Xiao Yan prepares a Blood Lotus Pill, Icy Spirit Cold Fountain, an Acceptance Spirit, and the green platform before beginning refinement. He separates the flame seed from the expanded fire, takes it into his body, and guides it through his pathways under the Flame Mantra. The procedure burns through protections, causes extreme pain, and nearly overwhelms him; the Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python removes part of the erupting excess flame, helping him survive. (Chapters 226–234)
The successful refinement expands and strengthens Xiao Yan's Dou Qi circulation and evolves his Flame Mantra from middle Huang class to middle Xuan class. It also gives his Dou Qi a green flame quality and makes the Green Lotus Core Flame a reliable source for later alchemy and battle. These changes arise from Xiao Yan's Flame Mantra assimilation rather than from merely carrying the unrefined fire. (Chapter 235)
Later development and combination
Xiao Yan openly wields the flame at the Three-Year Agreement and throughout later battles, using it as flame wings, body protection, fire nets, weapon coating, and a component of the Angry Buddha Lotus Flame. By the time he confronts Han Feng again, he has merged it with the Fallen Heart Flame into the stronger jade-green Glazed Lotus Heart Flame, though he can still divide the components. It remains one of the five genuine Heavenly Flames enumerated in his body late in the corpus. (Chapters 243, 333, 452, 599, 638–639, and 1497)
Abilities and properties
- Natural formation: The flame forms in the planet's depths through long exposure to fire, compression, and magma, eventually taking a green lotus form. The supplied account associates its mature presence near volcanic regions with destructive eruptions, but does not show Xiao Yan deliberately triggering a volcano with it. (Chapters 199–200)
- Extreme heat: Unrestrained, the flame melts rock, burns ordinary metal into liquid, incinerates energy used to pull it, and threatens to destroy the cave in which Xiao Yan refines it. Its own lotus platform can carry and suppress its outward temperature because the two share an origin. (Chapters 200, 218, and 227–228)
- Alchemy and combat: Once refined, Xiao Yan uses it as a controlled alchemical flame and shapes it into coatings, nets, wings, waves, and concentrated attacks. Against Demon Flame Valley's man-made Life Transforming Flame, it constricts and disperses the artificial fire. (Chapters 243, 333, 452, 599, 638, and 863–864)
- Flame Mantra development: Assimilating the flame substantially increases the quality and capacity of Xiao Yan's Dou Qi and advances his Qi Method. The refinement requires extensive protections and nearly kills him, establishing that its energy cannot be safely gained simply by swallowing it. (Chapters 226–235)
- Fusion with other flames: Xiao Yan combines it first in explosive fire-lotus techniques and later merges it stably with the Fallen Heart Flame. These applications depend on his Flame Mantra and control; contact between uncontrolled Heavenly Flames ordinarily risks rejection or mutual consumption. (Chapters 452, 599, 624, and 638–639)
Ownership and custody
| Holder or custodian | Relationship to the item |
|---|---|
| Queen Medusa / Cai Lin | Removes the naturally formed flame from its magma birthplace and controls it long enough to use in her evolution ritual. She does not retain it after the ritual. (Chapters 200–201 and 209–218) |
| Xiao Yan | Takes the unattended flame from the ritual island, transports it in the green lotus platform, and refines its seed through the Flame Mantra. It remains part of his documented flame arsenal thereafter. (Chapters 218–235, 243, 333, 452, 599, 638–639, and 1497) |
