Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame Map

The Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame Map, also called the Clean Lotus Demon Flame map, is a set of four ancient fragments linked to the third-ranked Heavenly Flame. For most of the story, the pieces appear to promise a route to the flame. Once assembled, they instead reveal the timing of its emergence and transmit a hidden light-seal from the Purifying Demonic Lotus Saint into Xiao Yan. That inheritance later exposes an illusion and manifests the saint's remnant power against the flame. (Chapters 120, 176–241, 392–403, 1395–1402, and 1494–1519)

History

Early fragments and Hai Bodong's bargain

Xiao Yan finds the first fragment among the treasure in a Magic Beast Mountain Range cave. Yao Lao recognizes the partial lotus design as connected to the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, but the fragment lacks enough geography to identify a location. It therefore begins as a clue and collection objective, not a functional guide. (Chapter 120)

He later finds a matching fragment among discarded maps in Hai Bodong's shop. Hai Bodong has studied it for years without learning its secret and has split the piece in two as a safeguard. After initially refusing to sell, he uses the retained half as leverage: Xiao Yan receives it only after fulfilling the agreement to break Hai Bodong's seal. This is a negotiated transfer conditioned on service, not an unnoticed theft of the entire piece from the shop. (Chapters 176–180 and 236–241)

At a Black-Corner Region auction, Fan Ling obtains another fragment without understanding its purpose. Xiao Yan recognizes it, tracks the buyers after the auction, and takes it during the violent struggle over their acquisitions. By this stage he holds three of the four principal parts, but even their combined lines do not yet yield a usable destination. (Chapters 392–393 and 401–403)

Completion and the hidden seal

The final fragment appears at a spatial trade fair, where Tian He Zi buys it for a nine-colored Pill Lightning medicinal pill. Yao Lao and Xiao Yan confront Tian He Zi's Three He Demon Ghosts after the sale and recover the fragment from them by force. Xiao Yan then assembles the four pieces. The completed parchment first appears disappointing: its geographic-looking lines identify no target. Blood has no effect, but Xiao Yan's merged Heavenly Flame cannot burn the material. Increased heat instead lifts ancient writing from it, predicting the once-in-a-thousand-years conjunction—two moons, nine aligned stars, and a world tide—at which the demonic flame will emerge. (Chapters 1395–1401)

After that revelation, the lotus image leaves the parchment and enters Xiao Yan's brow as a sealed white light cluster. It identifies the Purifying Demonic Lotus Saint but initially resists inspection even by Xiao Yan's powerful soul. The physical map has therefore completed its transmissive function; the important surviving component is the light-seal, not a paper route kept for navigation. (Chapters 1401–1402)

Detection, illusion-breaking, and the saint's remnant

The light cluster reacts when Xiao Yan's roaming soul approaches the sealed region where the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame will appear, helping him recognize the location before the predicted celestial event. During the expedition, the cluster warns him that his party remains trapped within the flame's Nightmare Heaven Fog even after an apparent escape. This enables Xiao Yan to expose the constructed reality before the group is fully reduced to fire slaves. (Chapters 1494–1495 and 1506)

When the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame later unleashes the Refining Sky Ancient Formation, the inherited light manifests a remnant imprint of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Saint through Xiao Yan. The remnant takes control of the formation its original created, protects the trapped group, and strips the flame's violent intelligence and memories from its essence. The saint and that old intelligence disappear together, leaving a purified demonic flame essence behind. This is the seal's decisive effect and the end of its documented active role. (Chapters 1518–1519)

Abilities and properties

  • Fragmentary concealment: The object is divided into four principal pieces, with Hai Bodong further splitting the piece in his custody. No single fragment provides a workable route, and even the complete object withholds its information until exposed to Heavenly Flame. (Chapters 120, 176–180, 236–241, 392–403, and 1400–1401)
  • Resistance to Heavenly Flame: The assembled parchment does not burn under Xiao Yan's merged Heavenly Flame. Heat instead illuminates its lines and releases the prediction of the demonic flame's emergence. The corpus does not establish that every fragment is indestructible under all forces. (Chapter 1401)
  • Timing rather than ordinary navigation: The completed writing describes the celestial conditions for the flame's reappearance. The surviving light later reacts to the sealed location, but the visible map itself does not provide a conventional marked destination. (Chapters 1401 and 1494–1495)
  • Illusion warning: The inherited light recognizes the Nightmare Heaven Fog's deeper illusion and prompts Xiao Yan to challenge it. This warning does not automatically dispel the illusion; Xiao Yan and his allies still must act on the insight and confront the flame. (Chapter 1506)
  • Remnant imprint: The light carries a remnant of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Saint that can manifest through Xiao Yan, control the saint's Refining Sky Ancient Formation, and purge the old demonic flame intelligence. It is an inherited seal or imprint, not evidence that Xiao Yan permanently learns all of the saint's techniques. (Chapters 1518–1519)

Ownership and custody

Holder or custodianRelationship to the item
Hai BodongFinds one piece, divides it, and retains half as security until Xiao Yan fulfills their bargain by breaking his seal. (Chapters 176–180 and 236–241)
Fan LingAuction buyer and brief possessor of one fragment. Xiao Yan takes it during the post-auction conflict. (Chapters 392–393 and 401–403)
Tian He Zi / Three He Demon GhostsTian He Zi purchases the final fragment at the spatial trade fair. Yao Lao and Xiao Yan subsequently defeat the group and take the fragment. (Chapters 1395–1398)
Xiao YanCollects the pieces, assembles and activates the map, and receives its hidden light-seal. The parchment's active significance ends after transmitting the seal; the inherited light remains with him until its final intervention. (Chapters 120, 177, 241, 392–403, 1395–1402, and 1494–1519)
