Xuanyuan Wentian

Xuanyuan Wentian is the Sword Master of Mighty Heavenly Sword Region and the central architect of the calamities connecting the Profound Sky Continent to the Illusory Demon Realm. A gifted swordsman who reaches the mortal world's cultivation ceiling, he spends a thousand years pursuing the divine way without moral restraint. He destroys the Eternal Night Royal Family, engineers Fen Juechen's life as a vessel for its devil blood, manipulates the Four Sacred Grounds into invading the Illusory Demon Realm, and ultimately abandons his own body to seize that vessel. The resulting half-step divine power makes him the strongest tyrant of his world until Yun Che destroys him.

Biography

Sword Master and the destruction of Eternal Night

Xuanyuan Wentian enters the Sovereign Profound Realm at the age of one hundred seventy-three and reaches its sixth level two hundred eighty years later. By the time he becomes Sword Master, his cultivation stands at the mortal limit, but the apparent impossibility of advancing beyond that limit becomes the obsession governing the rest of his life. Ancient records convince him that the divine way is real. From then on, he treats bodies, bloodlines, sects, and entire realms as material that can be sacrificed if they offer even a possibility of greater power. (Chapters 693 and 836–838)

The Heavenly Sin Divine Sword of the Eternal Night Royal Family gives him that possibility. After the Eternal Night King uses its darkness to exceed the Sovereign Profound Realm, Xuanyuan Wentian engineers the royal family's extermination and takes the sword. The massacre is not revenge or war; he admits that he destroys an innocent lineage because its devil blood and sealed devil soul might open a path beyond mortality. He then makes a thousand-year compact with the soul inside the sword and hides the true purpose behind the public account of a dangerous, fallen royal clan. (Chapters 381, 799, and 836–838)

Xuanyuan Wentian also preserves the last branch of Eternal Night blood for later use. He arranges the placement of Ye Mufeng's residual soul, guides the key to the Burning Heaven Clan, and secretly watches the forbidden reincarnation that produces Fen Juechen. Each apparent accident in Fen Juechen's pursuit of vengeance is part of the Sword Master's design: awakening the inherited blood, joining it to Ye Mufeng's power, and eventually placing the unsealed sword in the descendant's hands. Fen Juechen grows through suffering so that Xuanyuan Wentian can harvest the completed devil vessel. (Chapters 821–822 and 836–838)

The Illusory Demon conspiracy

The false promise of divinity also lets Xuanyuan Wentian direct the ambitions of others. Duke Ming tells the Four Sacred Grounds that the Mirror of Samsara hides the secret of the Divine Profound Realm, but Xuanyuan already knows the claim is false. He reinforces it as supposedly ancient intelligence from Mighty Heavenly Sword Region, creates a dimensional passage, and draws the Sacred Grounds into the Illusory Demon Realm. Their expedition captures Yun Canghai, kills the Demon Emperor and the Yun Family's elite, and cripples Yun Qinghong and Mu Yurou, while Xuanyuan's real goal remains possession of the mirror and any chance that it might exceed what Duke Ming understands. (Chapters 294, 771, 802–804, and 844)

He preserves deniability by letting greed appear collective. The Sacred Grounds believe they are partners pursuing a common treasure, and Duke Ming believes he is exploiting foreign power for his coup. In reality, Xuanyuan has manipulated both sides while withholding the fact that he considers the mirror's advertised secret a lie. When Yun Che returns from the Illusory Demon Realm, Xuanyuan uses the controlled Xiao Yun at the Devil Sword Conference to expose Yun Che as the Little Demon Empress's husband, turning old continental hatred into a weapon and making the other Sacred Grounds share responsibility for seizing him. (Chapters 771 and 802–806)

That strategy makes Yun Che a personal obstacle. Yun Che carries the Mirror of Samsara, has familial claims against Mighty Heavenly Sword Region, and possesses a fictitious master whose existence Xuanyuan has already begun to doubt. The Sword Master does not rush while uncertainty remains. He studies Yun Che, tests the story around him, and waits until Jasmine's departure removes the deterrent protecting him. His patience is one of his most dangerous qualities: he is willing to spend decades or centuries preparing a move so that open violence occurs only after the desired victim has nowhere safe to stand. (Chapters 771–772, 795, and 802–829)

The Devil Sword Conference and the chosen vessel

Xuanyuan presents the Devil Sword Conference as an opportunity to share the Heavenly Sin Divine Sword's secret with the world. In truth, Mighty Heavenly Sword Region has failed for centuries to break the remaining seals, so he exploits a rare Thirteen Star Alignment and gathers the strongest cultivators to supply the necessary power. He solemnly promises that any divine secret will belong to all participants, concealing that the sword soul and Fen Juechen's blood—not the assembled experts—are the real pieces of his plan. The attempt appears to fail, but it removes the seal and places the awakened weapon where its blood descendant can claim it. (Chapters 684 and 798–801)

Jasmine's intervention briefly overturns Xuanyuan's calculations. She kills his three Sword Attendants, cripples his plans against Yun Che, and reduces a man revered as nearly divine to fearful submission. Yet her departure also confirms both the existence of higher realms and the insufficiency of everything Xuanyuan has achieved. Rather than retreat, he exploits the opening immediately: he blackmails Divine Phoenix with stolen intelligence, chases the dying Yun Che, and then turns to the now-awakened Fen Juechen when the direct pursuit is frustrated. (Chapters 823–834)

Fen Juechen's sudden power nearly matches Xuanyuan's but lacks the experience and stability of a cultivator who spent fifteen centuries above the sixth Sovereign level. Xuanyuan defeats him and accepts the sword soul's proposed Devil Wheel Blood Sacrifice. The technique requires Xuanyuan to surrender his own body so Fen Juechen's devil vessel can consume its life and cultivation; Xuanyuan then stakes everything on his older, stronger soul erasing Fen Juechen's will from within. He accepts possible annihilation without hesitation. To him, the body that carried him for two thousand years has no value beside a certain chance to step into the divine way. (Chapters 834–838)

Possession and war between continents

The gamble succeeds incompletely. Xuanyuan takes control of Fen Juechen's body and combines his own cultivation with Fen Juechen's awakened blood and Ye Mufeng's absorbed power. His strength rises explosively toward half-step Divine Profound, and the sword's devil soul teaches him the Illusory Devil Tome of Eternal Night. However, Fen Juechen's consciousness is not fully erased. Its resistance can interrupt the stolen body at decisive moments, while the mixed blood and soul create a distorted path whose cultivation cannot advance normally and whose shortened lifespan is already being consumed. (Chapters 837–849 and 864–865)

Xuanyuan attacks the Illusory Demon Realm to seize the mirror and eliminate anyone capable of resisting his future rule. The Little Demon Empress initially overwhelms him with Golden Crow flame, forcing him to draw the Eternal Night Devil Sword; with it, his darkness suppresses her inside Lightless Eternal Night. Even after she burns origin blood and appears to destroy him, he survives, captures the exhausted defenders, and prepares to kill them one by one. Fen Juechen's remaining will disrupts the body when Xuanyuan targets Xiao Lingxi, allowing Feng Xue’er to drive him away. His stolen vessel gives unprecedented power, but it never becomes entirely his. (Chapters 843–850)

Three months later, Xuanyuan returns stronger and assaults Demon Imperial City. He forces the Yun Family to concentrate its strength into a defensive barrier, pressures the Little Demon Empress and Feng Xue’er together, and again treats hostages and mass destruction as efficient leverage rather than restraints. Yun Che's interventions and Fen Juechen's resistance prevent him from securing the mirror, but the battle confirms that ordinary Monarchs can no longer confront him directly. His approaching completion therefore creates a deadline: once the devil blood reaches its limit, he intends to rule both continents and remove every remaining threat. (Chapters 854–864)

Heavenly Sovereign and final defeat

Xuanyuan proclaims himself Heavenly Sovereign and orders the powers of the Profound Sky Continent to attend a conference at Supreme Ocean Palace. His demand is no longer cooperation but submission. He cripples or poisons the Sacred Grounds that resist, uses captured Xia Yuanba to break their morale, and treats the gathered rulers as witnesses to a new order centered entirely on his will. The title reveals the endpoint of the ambition he once disguised: divine power is valuable to him because it places every life, sect, and nation beneath his sole judgment. (Chapters 899–904)

Yun Che interrupts the ceremony and draws him into a battle beneath the Southern Ocean. Xuanyuan possesses greater overall profound strength, but Yun Che's Evil God darkness makes the Illusory Devil Tome ineffective, Yun Che's body withstands exchanges the stolen devil vessel cannot, and Hong'er suppresses the Eternal Night Devil Sword. The advantages Xuanyuan accumulated through conspiracy become mismatched against an opponent his information never prepared him to face. His sword bends, his bones shatter, and the wound through his heart steadily drains both blood and profound energy. (Chapters 905–912 and 921)

Refusing defeat, Xuanyuan devours the primordial devil soul from his own sword. The act briefly perfects the fusion of devil blood and soul and nearly doubles his pressure, but it also destroys any remaining path of cultivation and consumes what remains of his lifespan. The surge cannot reverse his accumulating injuries. Yun Che ultimately reduces his body to ashes beneath the sea; his soul disperses with it, and the devil energy vanishes completely. No reincarnation, remnant, or later revival follows. His thousand-year pursuit reaches the threshold of the divine way only by destroying every future in which he might have retained it. Appearance and personality

Before abandoning his original body, Xuanyuan Wentian is a lithe man in simple green robes with long black hair bound into a waist-length ponytail. His clothing and posture are understated, but the space around him becomes unnaturally still and his unexpressed pressure can make powerful cultivators struggle to breathe. His face is usually controlled and his voice measured, allowing him to present patient courtesy even while threatening an entire sect. (Chapters 771 and 799–805)

After Devil Wheel Blood Sacrifice, he wears Fen Juechen's younger body. Its eyes become almost entirely black, its blood and aura carry darkness, and black mist or lightning-like energy surrounds it when his power rises. His expressions become increasingly distorted as the mixed soul, devil blood, and obsessive ambition destabilize him. He continues calling himself Xuanyuan Wentian because identity, to him, resides in the conquering will rather than in the body he discarded. (Chapters 843–849 and 899–913)

Xuanyuan is patient, intelligent, secretive, and extraordinarily perceptive. He reads the ambitions of Duke Ming and the Sacred Masters, detects inconsistencies in Yun Che's invented background, maintains informants inside enemy institutions, and plans around bloodlines whose fruition will take a millennium. His politeness is tactical rather than merciful. He can flatter, defer, swear public oaths, or appear humiliated when those performances preserve an advantage, then abandon every promise when the balance of power changes. (Chapters 684, 771–772, 795–806, and 831–838)

His defining trait is the belief that no moral boundary outweighs advancement. He describes every life as a possible stepping stone and accepts the destruction of his body, family legacy, subordinates, and lifespan for power. Even affection for his son is subordinate to the larger design, while humiliation provokes cruelty rather than reflection. That absolutism also produces his final weakness: because he cannot accept a limit or defeat, he repeatedly converts survivable setbacks into irreversible sacrifices until nothing remains to preserve. Abilities and cultivation

Sovereign cultivation and sword mastery

Xuanyuan Wentian spends centuries at the summit of mortal cultivation, eventually reaching the tenth level of the Sovereign Profound Realm. His profound strength grants flight, vast spiritual perception, spatial suppression, extreme durability, and attacks capable of reshaping seas and mountains. He is recognized as the Profound Sky Continent's foremost swordsman as well as one of its four Sacred Masters. The Three Sword Attendants may match his numbered realm, but his experience, authority, and integrated technique place him above them in combat. (Chapters 771, 798–801, and 834–836)

His sword intent can condense into blades hundreds of meters long, tear space, create storms of spatial fragments, and pierce internal organs with distributed sword beams. Sword of No Return concentrates that mastery into an attack able to incapacitate Fen Juechen despite the latter's newly awakened devil power. His skill survives the transfer into Fen Juechen's body because the soul carrying his memories remains intact. The new body's unfamiliarity and mixed energies nevertheless prevent perfect control, especially when Fen Juechen's consciousness resists. (Chapters 834–838 and 843–847)

Devil Wheel Blood Sacrifice and the stolen body

Devil Wheel Blood Sacrifice converts Xuanyuan's mortal body into dark blood for Fen Juechen's devil physique to consume, carrying over his vitality, cultivation, and soul. Xuanyuan then uses the strength of his older soul to seize control of the vessel. The result contains three accumulated sources: his own tenth-level Sovereign cultivation, Fen Juechen's awakened Eternal Night blood, and the power Fen Juechen inherited from Ye Mufeng. Their interaction raises the stolen body to a distorted half-step Divine Profound state. (Chapters 836–845 and 848)

The technique is a possession, not harmless transformation. Xuanyuan's original body disappears, his soul becomes dependent on the stolen vessel, and Fen Juechen's surviving consciousness can paralyze or divert it around Xiao Lingxi. The devil inheritance also locks his future: even complete awakening cannot carry him into a stable true divine realm, further cultivation becomes impossible, and the incompatible power shortens his lifespan. Later comparisons explicitly distinguish his broken half-step divine body from a genuine Divine Origin cultivator. (Chapters 846–850, 864–865, 908, and 1362–1396)

Illusory Devil Tome of Eternal Night

Through the sword soul and Eternal Night blood, Xuanyuan gains the Illusory Devil Tome of Eternal Night. It converts his power into darkness profound energy that devours light, space, energy, and vitality; forms blades, giant hands, prisons, and poison; and can corrupt both body and soul. His Lightless Eternal Night domain surrounds a target with concentrated darkness, suppressing even the Little Demon Empress's Golden Crow flames while the Eternal Night Devil Sword feeds the domain. (Chapters 843–849 and 857–864)

The art is strongest in combination with the sword and weaker without it. Drawing the awakened weapon nearly doubles the pressure he can apply against the Little Demon Empress, while losing it removes both a major amplifier and the independent devil soul supporting his blood. Darkness itself is also not universally decisive: Yun Che's Evil God darkness seed makes him immune to the tome's suppression, reducing their final battle to raw profound strength, sword skill, and physical endurance. (Chapters 846–847, 909–913, and 921)

Final devil-soul fusion

When defeat becomes unavoidable, Xuanyuan devours the primordial devil soul inhabiting the Eternal Night Devil Sword. This forces the sword soul and the devil blood in his body into their most complete fusion and produces a short-lived surge almost twice as oppressive as his earlier peak. The emptied sword loses its devil eyes and independent will, while Xuanyuan gains enough immediate power to threaten Yun Che despite mortal wounds. (Chapter 913)

The state is self-terminating rather than a sustainable promotion. The swallowed soul is consumed, his profound energy is permanently severed from any future divine advance, and his already shortened lifespan collapses further. It cannot repair his pierced heart, broken bones, or accumulating exhaustion. Yun Che avoids the strongest exchanges, then destroys him once the surge fails to secure victory. (Chapters 913–914)

Strategy, intelligence, and limitations

Xuanyuan's most consequential ability is long-range planning. He builds informant networks, uses soul techniques and controlled witnesses to expose secrets, exploits rare astronomical phenomena, and layers false explanations so that rivals advance his objectives without realizing it. His plans account for ordinary ambition and fear with exceptional accuracy; they fail when confronted by inheritances and beings outside his knowledge, including Jasmine, the Evil God darkness seed, Hong'er, and Fen Juechen's attachment to Xiao Lingxi. (Chapters 771–772, 795–806, 831–838, and 846–850)

At his peak he is stronger than any ordinary Sovereign and can overwhelm groups of Sacred Ground experts, yet he never becomes a stable Divine Origin practitioner. His stolen body can be wounded by Golden Crow and Phoenix flames, the Eternal Night sword can be damaged or suppressed, and residual consciousness can interrupt control. His death is complete: Yun Che burns away his ruined body in Chapter 913, leaving no cultivation, artifact bond, or living state to advance afterward. (Chapters 846–865 and 902–913)

• Yun Che: Xuanyuan sees Yun Che first as the carrier of the Mirror of Samsara and then as the chief obstacle to his rule. He exposes Yun Che's Illusory Demon identity, hunts him after Jasmine leaves, threatens his families, and eventually confronts him as Heavenly Sovereign. Yun Che's darkness immunity and superior body overturn the final calculation and erase him completely. (Chapters 771–829, 831–865, and 899–915)

• Fen Juechen: Xuanyuan engineers Fen Juechen's reincarnation, inheritance, vengeance, and awakening so the Eternal Night descendant will mature into a devil vessel. He sacrifices his own body and takes Fen Juechen's, but never fully destroys the younger man's will. Fen Juechen's resistance saves Xiao Lingxi and helps deny Xuanyuan complete control before both souls die with the vessel. (Chapters 821–822, 834–850, and 914–920)

• Jasmine: Jasmine's power exposes how insignificant Xuanyuan remains beside a true God Realm inheritance. She kills his Sword Attendants and humiliates the Sacred Masters, intensifying rather than curing his obsession with the divine way. Her departure removes Yun Che's immediate protection and triggers Xuanyuan's move against him. (Chapters 812–829 and 836–838)

• Little Demon Empress: Xuanyuan helps engineer the invasion that destroys her father, brother, and the Illusory Demon Realm's defenders. After possessing Fen Juechen, he invades her realm and fights her repeatedly. Her Golden Crow power can nearly destroy his devil body, but the awakened sword lets him suppress her until outside intervention changes the battle. (Chapters 294, 802–804, and 843–864)

• Feng Xue’er: Xue’er protects Yun Che and the Illusory Demon defenders from Xuanyuan even when the gap in power can injure her with a single exchange. Fen Juechen's resistance creates the chance for her Golden Annihilation to drive him away, and her later growth makes her one of the future threats he intends to remove. (Chapters 823–850 and 857–864)

• Duke Ming: Each believes he is using the other. Duke Ming offers the false Mirror of Samsara secret to enlist the Sacred Grounds, while Xuanyuan strengthens the lie and uses the coup to obtain access to the Illusory Demon Realm. Their shared conspiracy devastates both continents without ever producing genuine loyalty between them. (Chapters 771, 802–804, and 844)

• Xuanyuan Wendao: His son benefits from the Sword Master's authority and acts as an agent in schemes against Yun Che. Xuanyuan protects the succession and receives reports through him, but his pursuit of power always remains the higher priority. Yun Che later cripples Wendao and leaves him to face the Xiao Family's judgment before fighting Xuanyuan. (Chapters 795–806, 823–829, and 899–900)
