Liu Yebai
Liu Yebai is Liu Qiyue's father, Meng Dajiang's life-and-death friend, and one of the guardians who raises Meng Chuan and Qiyue in the same household. His concealed work as a Demon Annihilation Guild assassin, later Earth Net service, and decision to care for the next generation allow stronger frontline Godfiends to keep fighting without severing the family ties behind them.
Biography
Hidden Service and a Shared Household
Liu Yebai loses his wife while Qiyue is young and brings his daughter to Meng Manor when Meng Chuan is eight. His life-and-death bond with Dajiang makes the arrangement more than lodging: the two fathers raise and train the children together until Meng Chuan and Qiyue regard the household as a shared family. Yebai is absent for much of each year, but the absences conceal service rather than abandonment. He and Dajiang accept Demon Annihilation Guild missions against demons and the Skydemon Sect, while Dajiang uses the resulting credit to strengthen Meng Chuan's foundation. (Chapters 1 and 20–23)
Their work requires secrecy, reconnaissance, and mutual reliance. Yebai moves through the wilderness with Dajiang, finds secure places for his wounded partner to recover, and handles local arrangements while they conceal their identities. When an Eastcalm Skydemon expert threatens the children, both men respond immediately; later, during the full demon invasion, Yebai abandons his cover to find Qiyue and joins Dajiang against Demon Monarch Poison Pool. Their complementary domain, ambush, and frontline methods force the stronger demon to withdraw even though neither can defeat him alone. (Chapters 20–21, 28–29, and 63–64)
After the invasion, Yebai supports Qiyue's departure for Archean Mountain and accepts her eventual marriage to Meng Chuan because he has watched the groom grow up. He manages pressure from the estranged Liu family without burdening his daughter with it, helps arrange the wedding at North River Pass, and tells Meng Chuan that Qiyue is more important to him than his own life. The marriage turns his long guardianship into a formal father-in-law relationship while preserving the same trust between the two families. (Chapters 70–71, 118–119, and 159–160)
Intelligence Work and Caregiving
Yebai helps Dajiang manage Earth Net's Eastcalm intelligence network, applying the scouting and concealment skills developed as an assassin. When Meng Chuan and Qiyue's twins are born, however, he leaves much of that work behind and becomes their principal daily caregiver. The parents remain essential frontline Godfiends, and Dajiang carries clan and Earth Net responsibilities, so Yebai's choice lets the children receive stable care without requiring either parent to abandon missions. He remembers this period near the end of his natural lifespan as one of the defining parts of his life. (Chapters 217–219, 245, and 546)
His knowledge of Dajiang becomes decisive when Earth Net accuses his friend of colluding with the Skydemon Sect. After three decades of shared missions, Yebai rejects the confession because the alleged conduct contradicts both Dajiang's character and the records they recovered from the destroyed Eastcalm branch. He also reasons that his own skill at scouting and hiding would have exposed a long-running betrayal. Yebai nevertheless asks Meng Chuan to consider the possibility that they are wrong and warns him not to oppose Archean Mountain, helping turn loyalty into a disciplined investigation rather than blind defiance. (Chapters 222–225)
The investigation proves that Dajiang's memories were altered. Yebai remains with the family as the war widens, but his cultivation has not reached the Great Solar realm, preventing him from joining Dajiang as a Patroller Godfiend. He openly regrets the limitation while still celebrating his friend's service. He later says farewell to Qiyue before she enters suspended animation and continues acting as a link among her husband, children, and older generation while frontline responsibility repeatedly separates them. (Chapters 357, 480, and 546)
Old Age, Slumber, and Renewal
By the time Meng An prepares to leave the human world, Yebai is near the end of his Godfiend lifespan. He and the family's other elders have seen enough war to accept the departure calmly, though he warns his grandson to be careful. His age does not erase the consequences of his earlier work: Meng An and Meng You accompany the grandfather who raised them, while Meng Chuan acknowledges that Yebai and the other elders once carried the burdens now borne by their descendants. (Chapter 546)
Meng Chuan promises to extend the lives of his father, mother, father-in-law, and wife after he gains access to suitable outer-realm treasures. Yebai accepts the offer but asks for a month to arrange his affairs, showing that continued life does not cancel his existing obligations. He then enters the Millennium Instant beside Dajiang, choosing suspended animation over dying before Meng Chuan can return with the treatment. (Chapter 550)
More than two millennia later, Meng Chuan awakens them and administers the promised longevity treasure. Yebai's life essence rises to the Supremacy level, his thin aged hair becomes long and black, and his lifespan extends to two thousand years. The change does not supply demonstrated new technique comprehension, but it removes the immediate limit of old age. His latest state is alive within the reunited extended family, still responding first as Qiyue's father when he notices that her phoenix transformation leaves her hair white. (Chapters 624–625)
Appearance and personality
In his active years, Liu Yebai is lean, elegant, and slightly dissolute in appearance, an outward ease that suits his ability to pass without attracting notice. In old age, his hair becomes thin, his face remains ruddy, and deep wrinkles and age spots show his approaching limit. The longevity treatment restores a younger life state and long black hair. (Chapters 20–21, 546, and 624–625)
Yebai is observant, understated, protective, and practical. He jokes easily with Dajiang and the younger family members, yet becomes cold and methodical when the Skydemon Sect or a threat to Qiyue appears. His loyalty does not eliminate judgment: he supports Dajiang when evidence looks damning but still tests Meng Chuan's response to the possibility of guilt. As a parent, he absorbs pressure from the Liu family, trusts Qiyue's choice of husband, and later exchanges field service for the unglamorous work of raising her children. (Chapters 20–21, 118–119, 159–160, 217–225, and 546)
Abilities and cultivation
Liu Yebai is a concealed Godfiend whose combat specialization combines reconnaissance, hiding, a black-fog domain, deceptive manifestations, and sword ambushes. He never reaches the Great Solar realm through ordinary cultivation, so his strongest demonstrations depend on positioning and cooperation rather than overwhelming direct power.
Scouting and concealment
Yebai is explicitly skilled at scouting and hiding. He can move through wilderness and cities with little trace, notices concealed intruders whom ordinary experts miss, and uses black mist to obscure his identity and aura during emergencies. These skills support Demon Annihilation Guild assassinations and later Earth Net intelligence work. They also give evidentiary weight to his defense of Dajiang: years of close partnership and clandestine observation make an extended secret betrayal difficult to reconcile with what he has seen. (Chapters 20–21, 37, 64, and 222)
Concealment is not perfect. A mortal expert who has comprehended Force can sense something amiss when Yebai crosses a city wall, and Meng Chuan's aura perception recognizes him through the black fog because disguising appearance and ordinary energy does not change an individual's aura signature. His stealth is therefore highly effective against conventional observation but can be challenged by specialized perception. (Chapters 20–21 and 64)
Black-fog domain and sword ambushes
Yebai's black fog forms a domain that suppresses Poison Pool's poisonous fog and makes movement feel like wading through a swamp. Within it, seven apparent Liu Yebais can attack and retreat from different directions. Struck manifestations collapse back into fog, while his true body uses unpredictable movement to stab from a flank. The combination controls space, conceals the real attacker, and creates openings rather than relying on a single decisive blow. (Chapter 64)
The battle also establishes the system's limits. Yebai's sword can penetrate Poison Pool's defensive fog only far enough to inflict a small wound, and the stronger demon's sweeping attacks remain dangerous if they find his true position. Dajiang must absorb frontal pressure so Yebai can continue ambushing, while Yebai's domain prevents Poison Pool from freely isolating Dajiang. Even with both using forbidden Godfiend spells, they achieve a costly draw rather than a kill. His latest ordinary cultivation remains below the Great Solar realm. (Chapters 64 and 357)
Supremacy-level life essence
The longevity treasure administered after his slumber permanently elevates Yebai's life essence to that of a Supremacy-level special lifeform and grants a two-thousand-year lifespan. This externally raises his physical level and reverses visible aging, but the corpus does not show it advancing his domain technique, sword realm, or understanding of laws. It therefore should not be treated as a cultivated Supremacy breakthrough. His latest source-grounded state is a living Supremacy-level lifeform with his earlier stealth and domain experience, but no post-treatment combat demonstration. (Chapters 550 and 624–625)
Power progression
