Yu Seolha

Yu Seolha is a former Second Division Commander of 「Rift」 whose loyalty to its anti-cultivation ideal eventually brings her into conflict with the organization itself. A survivor of the Great Disappearance and a disciple of Chunghuh, she develops from a pessimistic enforcer into the strategist of the Guides of Destruction and the founder of the Committee that governs the postwar Abyss.

Biography

A disciple shaped by the Great Disappearance

Seolha survives the Great Disappearance as a child and later becomes one of 「Rift」's strongest Division Commanders under the Awakening method Chunghuh helped create. Seven centuries after that disaster, she finds her former master in Gorgon and asks him to return. She insists that 「Rift」 alone still fights for humanity, while he condemns the organization for sacrificing its original purpose. Their argument is personal as well as ideological: Seolha blames Chunghuh for standing by during the catastrophe that made her what she is, then opens Mountain of Corpses, Sea of Blood, a world built from its victims, to force him to confront the legacy he left behind. (Chapters 59–60)

Although Seolha says she came to kill Chunghuh, his renewed hope makes her delay that intention and watch the changes around Jaehwan. She later intercepts Jaehwan at the passage to the Abyss because he has independently developed Soul Erasure, a technique that 「Rift」 restricts to its senior members. She praises his victories, offers him membership, and attacks when he refuses, but withdraws after his sword threatens her Pineal Thread. Later chapters clarify that this was not merely a lost encounter: Seolha had seen a possibility in Jaehwan's world and consciously allowed him to continue even though her Combat Power should have been sufficient to stop him. (Chapters 102–103, 182, 199)

Loyalty tested in the Metaverse

Two years later, Seolha enters the Metaverse without waiting for her Commander's authorization because Jin Eunsae has stopped communicating. Protecting the child takes priority over procedure. When she finds Jaehwan, she initially assumes he is holding Eunsae hostage and threatens him with overwhelming force, but Eunsae explains that he rescued them from an experiment conducted within 「Rift」. Seolha accepts the correction, offers to repay Jaehwan by handling the Alliance, and turns her anger toward the hidden project rather than defending her organization reflexively. (Chapters 144–156)

While Jaehwan trains, Seolha independently attacks the Alliance's palace and confronts its Leader, Eoduksi, whom she calls Senior Brother. She wants both Eoduksi and Chunghuh to return because their departures have left the remaining members with a burden they once agreed to carry together, but she also recognizes that 「Rift」 has become “something strange.” When Eoduksi refuses, Seolha chooses combat and resists his Time Rewind through Sanctuary Manifestation. He cannot defeat her directly in the exchange and instead seals her inside a reinforced Time Cube, where she spends three days battering the prison from within. (Chapters 159–167)

Seolha emerges from the Cube as the Metaverse collapses, catches the falling Jaehwan with World Power, and then contributes her remaining power to his attempt to stop the Driver despite judging the plan too late. She guards him through the destruction and tells Eoduksi that she will destroy 「Rift」 herself if it repeats the Great Disappearance. Afterward she pursues him, then temporarily cooperates with Chunghuh to infiltrate Caspion. Her refusal to explain why she keeps letting Jaehwan live masks a growing curiosity: his world can perceive 《Big Brother》, and his determination offers a route beyond the despair that had defined both Seolha and her master. (Chapters 174–182)

Leaving Rift and organizing resistance

When Maiad van Declan nearly kills Jaehwan at Caspion, Seolha challenges the Commander's judgment and helps devise an escape toward the Great Forest. She remains behind to slow 「Rift」's pursuit, even though this means defying Maiad, because she believes a Division Commander's duty includes correcting a Commander's mistake. The confrontation finally makes her examine the secret experimentation on Eunsae alongside her World Appraisal's failure to measure Jaehwan. Unable to reconcile those experiments with 「Rift」's promise of a world without cultivation, she leaves and chooses a world in which she can stand proudly, whether or not that choice proves correct. (Chapters 195, 199, 207–208)

Seolha joins the Guides of Destruction and spends three months trying to persuade Nameless to oppose 「Rift」. Her argument is no longer that victory is certain: World Appraisal tells her Maiad cannot defeat 《Big Brother》, and Nameless warns that the Setting is imperfect. Instead, she wants to stop needless sacrifices and rebuild enough strength to challenge the root of cultivation later. In defending that hope against Nameless's ancient fatalism, Seolha discovers that the pessimism she carried for seven hundred years has changed. Jaehwan's example has made her believe again that refusing to surrender can alter a world. (Chapters 213–214)

As strategist of the Guides, Seolha reorganizes the Seventh Site and promotes Jaehwan as a symbol around whom opposition can gather. Maiad's apparent destruction of 《Big Brother》 overturns that campaign and leaves her unable to offer an easy plan, but she continues preparing the Site rather than hiding her uncertainty. She then fights former companions directly. Imai Kazuki regards her departure as a personal betrayal, while Mirel meets her on the battlefield; Seolha's frontline experience eventually gives her the advantage over Mirel. That victory is interrupted when Maiad uses their shared Rift Worldview to drain the World Power of everyone connected to it, demonstrating that leaving the organization did not sever Seolha from its underlying world. (Chapters 218, 223–225, 228–233)

After Maiad and 「Rift」 fall, Seolha establishes the Committee to govern the Abyss without turning it into a new personal power base. She imposes equal Setting evaluations even on Jaehwan and argues that heroes cannot remain permanent exceptions without recreating resentment and hierarchy. Yet Runald's challenge—asking how those measurements differ from the old System—exposes her fear that Jaehwan is preparing to leave. Seolha leads the Committee in trying to stop him, arguing that their reformed Abyss offers peaceful coexistence and cannot risk provoking 《Big Brother》. She ultimately yields when Chunghuh and the others defend Jaehwan's choice, accepting responsibility for those who remain while letting him pursue the root problem she knows the Committee cannot solve. (Chapters 236–237)

A final verdict on Jaehwan's world

Seolha lives into the New World after ordinary aging returns. As the long-lived survivors begin dying, she bitterly envies Sirwen Armelt's unchanging dream-demon body and asks her to keep waiting for Jaehwan. Seolha's final request is not for vindication of her own decisions: she wants Jaehwan told that he was never wrong, even if everything they accomplished proves meaningless. Age changes her body but does not weaken the force of her gaze before death. (Chapter 262)

Her life also persists as part of the world Jaehwan has forgotten. A teacher invokes Seolha among the people whose stories prove that Jaehwan's world still exists within him, while Sirwen dreams of fighting beside her during the long wait. Jaehwan's later revision recovers only fragmentary memories of Seolha's scheme at the entrance to the Abyss, but the act of writing restores those relationships to the story rather than converting them into proof that the original events never occurred. (Chapters 261–262, 265)

Appearance and personality

Seolha is a beautiful woman with sharp, aloof features and long hair tied into a ponytail. She commonly wears black robes or night-traveling clothes and carries a black chain scythe around her waist. In battle, vivid blue ghostly energy covers her body, lightning crackles from her hair, and the unfurling chain turns the surrounding space into a field of thunder and moving steel. (Chapters 52, 102–103, 144, 156, 182, 207)

Her outward manner is mocking, impatient, and intimidating. Seolha needles Chunghuh, orders Imai to be quiet, and can reduce a room to silence when frustrated. That severity coexists with awkward care: she brings Chunghuh liquor, is embarrassed by Jaehwan's thanks, and treats Eunsae's safety as more important than orders or factional consequences. Her habit of carrying every problem herself makes her an effective commander but also leaves her anxious even after a victory. (Chapters 59–60, 144–156, 214, 223)

Seolha's central trait is loyalty to an ideal rather than unquestioning loyalty to an institution. She remains with 「Rift」 while she believes it fights cultivation, challenges its leaders when they abandon that purpose, and leaves when secret experimentation makes the organization resemble the Cultivators it opposes. Her later governance preserves the same demand for fairness, though Runald forces her to recognize that universal measurements can reproduce the System. She is capable of changing course when evidence contradicts her while accepting the personal cost of that change. (Chapters 159, 175, 195–199, 236–237)

Powers and limitations

Fourth Awakening and Mountain of Corpses, Sea of Blood

Seolha reached at least fourth-stage Awakening long before her first direct battle with Jaehwan. Her Unique World, Mountain of Corpses, Sea of Blood, recreates the Great Disappearance as a crimson landscape of piled bodies and an ocean of blood. Its pressure can overwhelm Chunghuh and tear through his White Horn World, and it supplies immense World Power to Seolha's combat techniques. The world is also shared in some form among 「Rift」's senior members: Seolha retains it after leaving, but Maiad can exploit that connection to drain her and every other bearer during the final Rift War. (Chapters 59, 63, 182, 207, 218, 233)

Thunder Chain and Thunder Goblin

Thunder Chain is identified as Seolha's innate Setting. It can activate involuntarily when she becomes furious, producing electricity from her hair, while deliberate use wraps her body in blue energy and calls down lightning over a broad area. Her signature chain scythe, Thunder Goblin, turns this power into a mobile field of chains and phantom afterimages; her specialty, Lightning Surge, forces even Imai to retreat. The weapon remains vulnerable to unfavorable matchups, however. Imai's shape-changing Blade Nuri can seal its direct approach and interrupt the chain's rhythm, pushing Seolha back before she commits her Unique World's power. (Chapters 103, 156, 199, 218)

World Appraisal

World Appraisal predicts the future potential of a Unique World. Nameless transmitted the Setting to Seolha, and both acknowledge that it is imperfect even though its evaluations are usually correct. Its most important result is a failure: when Seolha tries to appraise Jaehwan, she sees nothing because the appraisal itself cannot operate on his world. That uncertainty becomes evidence of potential beyond what she has found in Maiad and contributes to her decision to leave 「Rift」. The failure does not prove what Jaehwan will accomplish, and Seolha continues to treat trusting him as a choice rather than certain prophecy. (Chapters 199, 213–214)

Soul Erasure, Sanctuary, and World Power

Soul Erasure is a 「Rift」 technique normally restricted to Division Commanders and higher. It severs a soul's Pineal Thread, potentially leaving the target trapped within the Phantasmal Tree for life. Seolha can use it, but explicitly cannot sever the hundreds of Links supporting the Driver at once. Her Sanctuary accelerates her perception until surrounding motion appears slow and lets her resist Eoduksi's Time Rewind, although it does not prevent a Time Cube from sealing her. Her publicly known World Power is slightly above three billion—enough to terrify Clockmakers and exceed a Seven Star, but far below Maiad's roughly ten billion before his Gigantes is counted. Strategy and command

Seolha is an experienced field commander as well as a fighter. She identifies a viable split-route escape into the Great Forest, organizes the Seventh Site's defenses, uses publicity to construct Jaehwan as a counter-symbol to 「Rift」, and later designs the Committee's evaluation system. These plans can be overturned by information outside her reach: Maiad's false victory narrative collapses her propaganda strategy, and the apparent fall of 《Big Brother》 leaves her briefly without a workable answer. Her strategic strength lies in reorganizing after such reversals, not in predicting every outcome. (Chapters 195, 223–225, 236–237)

Relationships

• Jaehwan: Seolha begins by trying to recruit or suppress Jaehwan, then repeatedly chooses to preserve the possibility represented by his unreadable world. She protects his escape, leaves 「Rift」 partly because his example gives her another standard to trust, builds an alliance around him, and finally allows him to depart despite fearing the consequences for everyone she governs.

• Chunghuh: Chunghuh is Seolha's former master and a participant in the history that traumatized her. Their early reunion is accusatory and violent, but Jaehwan's influence lets them work together again. Their continuing arguments hide recovered affection, and Chunghuh is ultimately the person who helps her accept Jaehwan's departure.

• Jin Eunsae: Seolha regards Eunsae as precious and violates procedure to search for them. Learning that 「Rift」 experimented on the child without her knowledge becomes decisive evidence that the organization has betrayed its anti-cultivation purpose.

• Imai Kazuki: Imai follows Seolha into the Metaverse and harbors feelings that she recognizes but refuses to encourage. Her departure wounds him as both a comrade and a believer in 「Rift」. Their later duel makes the organization's ideological fracture into a personal conflict neither can resolve through persuasion.

• Maiad van Declan and Nameless: Maiad is the Commander whose growing power, hidden experiments, and compromised goal drive Seolha from 「Rift」. Nameless, a founder who also abandoned it, supplies World Appraisal and becomes the reluctant ally she spends months recruiting against Maiad.
