Nameless — The World After the Fall

Nameless, formerly Pierre, is the God of Madness, ruler of the Seventh Site Epoche, and one of Rift's three founders. An ancient Awakened One who abandons both Rift and their old name after losing hope, they return to active resistance after meeting Jaehwan.

Biography

War on the Metaverse Floors to Only One World

Nameless first appears at a Divine Throne meeting as the masked and almost unknown ruler of Epoche. They break two hundred years of silence to keep Ignis and Droyan focused on the Metaverse crisis, then defend the tower's neutral rules until evidence shows trust is being diverted outside it. Their deeper history emerges later: as Pierre, the God of Mockery, they wrote guides for low-grade gods, trained under La-Hamad, befriended Mulack Armelt, and helped Buddha and Maiad van Declan found Rift. Pierre eventually despaired before an apparently insurmountable System, abandoned their name, and left the organization. (Chapters 135–136, 213–214, 222, 227, and 232)

Yu Seolha spends three months trying to recruit Nameless against Rift. They initially refuse because Maiad still claims to seek Big Brother's fall and because Mulack's earlier disappearance at the Nest convinced them that replacing one ruler of the Abyss with another changes nothing. Jaehwan identifies Nameless as Pierre through Mulack's memories and challenges whether their strength is worth borrowing. Their restrained fight burns Nameless's hand and injures their soul form for the first time since they became a Divine Throne. Seeing that Jaehwan still perceives Big Brother as something vicious revives a fragment of their old hope, and Nameless agrees to help under unstated conditions. (Chapters 213–215)

Nameless declares their return, permits Seolha to reorganize the Seventh Site's forces, and supports the Guides of Destruction after Jerome's defeat. When Rift later mounts its full assault, Nameless holds two Great Lords at once and gradually gains the upper hand until Only One World begins weakening everyone tied to Rift's worldview, including former members. They survive that crisis, and by the final supplied chapter they are counted among the Committee's strongest members, temporarily away when the White Revolutionary Corps attacks. Appearance and personality

At the Divine Throne meeting, Nameless appears as a mysterious figure in a white mask. In Epoche they are described more fully as a pale man in white burial-like robes, with bloodless lips and the air of an invalid who has gone too long without sunlight. They can speak no more than ten words at once, so longer thoughts appear as beautifully written text in the air; the chapters do not explain whether this limitation is self-imposed, a Setting cost, or damage from age. (Chapters 135–136 and 213)

Nameless combines eccentric humor with immense accumulated despair. They repeat greetings, stress the first word of each phrase, and enjoy Seolha's exasperation, yet their books and old life show sustained concern for weak gods and resistance to cultivation. Mulack's failure makes them treat mass slaughter and regime change as recurring surface phenomena. Jaehwan does not erase that knowledge; he gives Nameless evidence that someone can still see the System as an enemy, enough for the ancient god to act again without claiming certainty about victory. Powers and limitations

World Appraisal and Truth's Eye

Nameless is exceptionally skilled with manipulation and perception Settings. They possess World Appraisal and transmit an imperfect version to Seolha, allowing both to evaluate likely outcomes and the shape in which an Awakened One perceives Big Brother. Truth's Eye and World Appraisal cannot properly read Jaehwan when he enters Edmund, demonstrating that the Settings are fallible rather than omniscient. (Chapters 213–215)

Unique World and shared worldview

Big Brother appears as a moon within Nameless's Unique World. Nameless explains that Rift's founders share their Unique Worlds to some degree, and later reports that the moon has disappeared while carefully distinguishing that observed fact from the unprovable truth of Big Brother's death. This shared worldview is a vulnerability under Maiad's Only One World: despite having left Rift, Nameless twists in pain and loses strength when the Setting drains those connected to its collective world. (Chapters 215, 224, and 233)

Divine-Throne combat

Nameless possesses enough World Power to be the only available being Seolha considers capable of opposing Rift. Their manipulation Setting expels most observers from the fight with Jaehwan, while direct World Power leaves Jaehwan unharmed enough to continue and Nameless with a burned hand. Later they fight two Great Lords simultaneously and slowly gain ground in both attack and defense. The cited chapters do not name a principal offensive Setting, and the Only One World interaction prevents that battle from establishing their unrestricted upper limit. (Chapters 210, 213–215, 226, and 230–233)

Naked and scholarship

Nameless trained in the Great Forest and once posed as the Mad God. During that period they passed the Setting Naked to Andersen, whom they identify as the only god to inherit it from them. Their writings also preserve unusually detailed knowledge of God Complex; they recognize Runald's supreme-grade condition and interpret it as a possible answer to the System rather than merely an illness. These are transmitted knowledge and Settings, not evidence that Nameless uses Andersen's later techniques in the same form. (Chapters 226 and 230)

Relationships

Yu Seolha: Seolha receives World Appraisal from Nameless and spends three months trying to move them from resignation to resistance. After Jaehwan supplies the decisive evidence, Nameless authorizes her to reorganize Epoche and plan the Guides of Destruction's campaign. (Chapters 213–215 and 223–224)
Jaehwan: Jaehwan recognizes Pierre through Mulack, tests Nameless in combat, and restores their interest in opposing the System. Nameless later shares information about Rift, Reincarnation, and Maiad's Setting that helps him understand the final conflict. (Chapters 214–215, 229, and 232–233)
Maiad van Declan and Buddha: The three found Rift and share aspects of their Unique Worlds, but Nameless abandons the organization after despairing of its path. They later judge that Maiad and Buddha never perceived Big Brother negatively enough to create a true revolution. (Chapters 213, 215, 224, 227, and 232)
Mulack Armelt: Mulack is Nameless's friend and fellow opponent of cultivation. His disappearance after leaving for Big Brother's Nest destroys Nameless's remaining confidence that the System can be defeated, while Jaehwan's connection to him opens the way back to action. (Chapters 213–215)
Andersen: Nameless remembers Andersen as the sole god to whom they passed Naked while acting as the Mad God. The inheritance links Andersen's later resistance to Nameless's earlier experiments against the System. (Chapter 226)
