Sun Bai

Sun Bai is a healer from the Grave Verdant Grove who first serves as a guest cultivator of Profound Peak Gate. His skill earns him a place in the Li Family’s service, though fear sometimes overtakes his willingness to face danger.

Biography

A healer after Profound Peak Gate’s defeat

As Profound Peak Gate struggles to hold its territory, Sun Bai reports what remains under its control and treats the wounded gate master, Kong Guxi. His lineage specializes in healing and nurturing, so Li Ximing brings him into service to help Moongaze’s injured cultivators. During a later retreat, however, Sun Bai feigns defeat and hides rather than withdraw with the others; when Qu Buzhi finds him, he returns ashamed and tends Li Minggong, Miaoshui, and the white ape. (Chapters 1098, 1100, 1105 and 1176)

Service at Moongaze Lake

Sun Bai continues treating the Li Family’s cultivators, including distributing a restorative preparation after a major battle. Much later, he tries to sustain the dying Li Qiuyang by using Horn Wood material and mana to nourish the Merging Fire symbol at his lips. The desperate measure is meant to buy Qiuyang a few more breaths, but it does more harm than good, showing the limits of Sun Bai’s healing even in the hands of a skilled specialist. (Chapters 1359, 1714 and 1729)

Appearance and personality

Sun Bai is an elderly cultivator who usually keeps a quiet, deferential manner around senior figures. He is diligent about examining injuries, but his fear during the retreat leads him to hide; afterward, he admits his failure and returns to care for the wounded. (Chapters 1100, 1105 and 1176)

Abilities and cultivation

Sun Bai is a mid-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator of the Grave Verdant Grove, whose healing lineage is associated with Horn Wood. He uses mana and Horn Wood spirit material to treat injuries, and the Li Family later entrusts him with administering restorative medicine. His care can sustain a gravely weakened patient, but it cannot repair the deep damage that Merging Fire has done to Li Qiuyang. (Chapters 1098, 1105, 1359, 1714 and 1729)
