Kong Guxi
Kong Guxi leads Profound Peak Gate through the death of its founding Daoist Master, the loss of its mountain home, and its eventual return. He serves as the keeper of his ancestor’s robe and the gate’s mountain-moving inheritance. (Chapters 1086–1087, 1204–1205, 1536)
Biography
Carrying out Changxi’s last instructions
Guxi had only recently succeeded Kong Tingyun as gate master when he arrived at the Li family’s gathering. He approached stronger powers with courtesy, aware that his own gate’s Earth Virtue techniques were poor tools for combat. When Daoist Master Changxi disclosed that the Kong lineage had never been destined for the Purple Mansion Realm and gave his final instructions, Guxi wept but remembered them. After Changxi died and became a mountain, Guxi collected his robe and followed the order to obey Li Ximing. During the fighting in the Wilderness, Guxi suffered grave injuries and lost much of his gate’s support; he nevertheless remained with the survivors and acknowledged that Profound Peak Gate owed its continued existence to Moongaze. (Chapters 1034, 1086–1087, 1099–1100)
Preserving a lineage after its mountain was taken
After the war, Guxi helped restore Profound Peak Gate in the Wilderness, but the Grace Covenant Gate then took the old mountain home and invoked its distant connection to the same Tongxuan Dao lineage. Guxi recognized that neither his family nor Moongaze could resist the political tide. He therefore surrendered the Profound Light Mountain Chasing Scripture so it could return to the Profound Grace lineage, asking that his descendants retain a copy in case they could continue the art. Decades later, still serving as gate master, he returned to the mountain carrying Changxi’s robe and laid it over a throne during the gate’s ceremony. (Chapters 1199, 1204–1206, 1536)
Appearance and personality
Guxi is first described as pale-faced and beardless, wearing Profound Peak Gate’s golden robes. In later years he appears old and physically rigid. He is deferential toward powerful allies and openly grieves for his ancestor, yet he can act decisively in defense of his gate; in the Wilderness, he rejected the notion that his injured followers should abandon their orders. (Chapters 1033, 1086–1087, 1099–1100, 1536)
Abilities and cultivation
Guxi reached the late stage of the Foundation Establishment Realm by Chapter 1199. Profound Peak Gate’s inheritance includes Earth Virtue and mountain-moving arts, but its techniques were not regarded as strong combat methods when he first met the Li family. His role in the lineage is chiefly as its leader and custodian rather than its foremost fighter. (Chapters 1034, 1199, 1205)
Relationships
- Daoist Master Changxi: His ancestor and the former gate master. Changxi’s last instructions shaped Guxi’s wartime alignment and his later stewardship of the lineage. (Chapters 1086–1087)
- Li Ximing and Li Zhouwei: Leaders of the family that sheltered Profound Peak Gate during its crisis. Guxi followed Ximing’s direction and later expressed gratitude to the Li family for preserving his people. (Chapters 1087, 1100, 1199)
- Kong Guli: Guxi’s elder brother, who waited for him after the gate’s inheritance was surrendered. (Chapter 1206)
Items
Guxi recovered and kept Changxi’s Daoist robe after the ancestor’s death, later bringing it back to the mountain for the gate’s ceremony. He transferred the Profound Light Mountain Chasing Scripture to the Li family so it could be returned to the Profound Grace Dao lineage, requesting that a copy be preserved for Kong descendants.
