Lin Chensheng

Lin Chensheng is a Foundation cultivator of Great Xiukui Temple and a nephew of Daoist Master Houfu. His friendship with Li Xuanfeng begins during the Green Pine expedition and later extends to protecting Xuanfeng’s niece from danger.

Biography

Expedition alliances and a warning

Zhong Qian introduces Chensheng to Xuanfeng before the Green Pine expedition. Chensheng cautions the newcomer against becoming another cultivator’s disposable pawn, but later proposes exploring together as the mountain grows more dangerous. His childhood friend Bi Yuzhuang joins them and directs their attack on a formation. Chensheng contributes a powerful talisman, and the party shares the recovered ancient books. Further competition over meditation places and treasures leaves him bleeding from the chest; he finally flees the battle of divine powers rather than remaining to tend his wounds. During Great Xiukui Temple’s later attack on a Crimson Reef Island market, Chensheng encounters Li Qinghong while carrying a severed head. Recognizing her relationship to his friend, he courteously warns her that the temple is attacking the market ahead and advises her to choose another route. Their meeting turns an expedition acquaintance into practical protection for Xuanfeng’s family. (Chapter 739)

Appearance and personality

He wears black robes adorned with jade and animal bones. His short, light eyebrows and sharp gaze give him a fierce appearance, although he addresses Xuanfeng and Qinghong courteously. He is willing to cooperate while keeping the dangers of an expedition in view. (Chapters 589, 592–594 and 739)

Abilities and cultivation

Chensheng is a Foundation cultivator whose expedition resources include a black talisman that releases a multicolored attack. Bi Yuzhuang directs the formation-breaking work. His ability and resources do not permit him to remain safely within the later clash of divine powers, from which he escapes injured. (Chapters 589, 594 and 614–615)
