Biography

From fugitive to grotto-heaven ally

A water ape pursued Zhong Qian after he took a precious herb from its cave, driving him to seek shelter in a protected market. He approached Li Xuanfeng cautiously, kept an escape talisman ready, and offered to return what he had taken. Xuanfeng instead killed the ape and let him leave freely. Grateful and impressed by Xuanfeng’s bow mastery, Zhong Qian established his Foundation and later sought him out with news of the Green Pine Temple ruins, offering a route into the grotto heaven in return for a powerful companion. (Chapters 574–577, 579, 581, 585–586)

A sect founder revealed as a political instrument

After disappearing inside the grotto heaven, Zhong Qian reappeared years later as a spear-wielding devil cultivator who had gathered followers and led them south. A later disclosure revealed that the Golden Feather Sect had secretly protected and cultivated him as a prospective sect founder and instrument in Jiangbei. Zhong Qian eventually became sect master of Chengyun Gate, which rose to prominence as an orthodox power; he maintained courteous ties with the Li family and personally apologized when his subordinates overstepped. He later broke through to the Purple Mansion Realm and received the Dao title Chonggong. (Chapters 825–827, 844, 913, 1039–1040, 1111, 1161, 1615–1625)
