Gao Fu

Gao Fu, the Bolie King, is a powerful northern ruler of the Gao Family whose dignified diplomacy contrasts with the factional intrigue surrounding his clan. His southern work includes negotiating the submission of Jiangbei sects and retrieving the final possessions of his aunt Gao Xijiang, known as Master Jianghu. (Chapters 1473–1474)

Biography

A northern king between public duty and old loyalties

Gao Fu earns renown for slaying demons at Ying Lake and bringing order to Qi, and is invited to guard a contested gathering during the struggle between north and south. He greets the southern Daoist Masters with exact northern courtesy, requests a demonstration of Daoist Master Qiushui’s reflection ability, and openly praises its ingenuity. Watching the contest, he takes pride in Gao Fangjing, his clan’s outstanding young talent, as the latter wins substantial spoils. His enjoyment gives way to attention when metallic essence appears, illustrating both his family investment and his recognition of a much greater prize. (Chapters 832–833, 842, 1473)

On a later southern journey he persuades Chengyun Gate, the Capital Immortal Dao, and Xuanmiao Temple to join Zhao Shuo’s reorganized Huai River Dao lineage, resolving the matter with relatively little difficulty or bloodshed. He also visits Li Zhouwei on a personal errand: Gao Xijiang cared for him as a child, and he wants to bring her remains or surviving possessions home for burial at Ying Mound. The meeting carries political danger because parts of the Gao Family seek to restore the Shilou name and sever old ties to Wei’s Li lineage. Tinglan, who knows him from Qi, intervenes to host him and explains how his aunt’s presence by the lake could have been exploited to provoke a clash between the families. By coming personally and remaining courteous, Gao Fu prevents the errand from being handed to a hostile Shilou cultivator. (Chapters 1473–1474)

The Li Family returns a box containing seven talismans and his aunt’s letter, assuring him that she died peacefully after expending her cultivation to make them. He falls silent at the contents and bows in thanks, accepting evidence that the feared mistreatment never occurred. His gratitude preserves room for an old allegiance despite the suspicion attaching to a Zhao king’s contact with the Wei descendants. He later lends his lifelong spirit artifact to Shilou Yingge for protection on another southern journey, showing that concern for clan members continues alongside those divided loyalties. By the later northern crisis, Chief Jiang reports that Gao Fu has obtained an opportunity, crossed a longstanding Purple Mansion threshold, and entered seclusion. (Chapters 1474, 1590, 1710)

Appearance and personality

He is broad-chested and imposing, with a prominent nose, thick brows, a handsome beard, and deep-set dark red eyes holding suppressed True Flame. His white upper garment, red lower robes, and black cloak convey the dignity of an ancient noble. He is exact in ceremonial manners, proud of his clan’s success, and capable of restrained grief and gratitude even under political pressure. (Chapters 832, 842, 1473–1474)

Abilities and cultivation

True Fire divine abilities

Gao Fu is explicitly a mid-stage Purple Mansion cultivator with three True Fire divine abilities. Crimson radiance rings behind him and flames extend from his robes into the surrounding void; he can suppress their display when meeting Zhouwei and privately transmit speech through divine ability. His reputation includes demon-slaying and guarding politically contested ground, but the individual names and detailed combat mechanisms of his three abilities are unknown. Chief Jiang’s later report describes a crossed Purple Mansion threshold and seclusion without naming the resulting realm or a newly completed ability. (Chapters 832, 842, 1473, 1710)

The Crimson Wood Radiant Feather

His lifelong spirit artifact is a small crimson feather surrounded by a crescent of True Fire. Entrusted to Yingge for emergency protection, it releases many strands of flame against an incoming spirit treasure. Hastily activated, it cannot stop the blow outright, but lessens its effect and returns to Yingge’s brow to suppress the invading Bright Yang energy. This defensive application belongs to the borrowed artifact and does not establish that Gao Fu personally suffers the attack. (Chapter 1590)

Relationships

  • Gao Fangjing: Exceptional junior whose performance makes Gao Fu visibly proud. (Chapter 842)
  • Li Zhouwei: Southern host who returns his aunt’s possessions and navigates the political danger of their meeting. (Chapters 1473–1474)
  • Tinglan: Longstanding acquaintance from Qi whose timely reception eases the standoff. (Chapter 1474)
  • Shilou Yingge: Clan member whom Gao Fu protects by lending his prized spirit artifact. (Chapter 1590)

Items

The Crimson Wood Radiant Feather is his lifelong spirit artifact, loaned to Shilou Yingge for his southern journey. Gao Fu also receives Master Jianghu’s seven Golden Armor Profound Art Talismans and final letter from the Li Family; the talismans create mana armor against spell arts and are the last products of her spent cultivation.
