Gao Fangjing

Gao Fangjing is an outstanding True Flame cultivator of the Gao Family whose victories during the northern and southern contest earn Gao Fu’s visible pride. His later attainment of Purple Mansion strengthens the family’s ability to project power beyond the north. (Chapters 842, 1500)

Biography

Answering insults with strength and spoils

Fangjing enters the contest amid hostility toward the Gao Family’s relationship with Wei. When Murong Gong denounces its adopted lineage, Fangjing claims Zhou ancestry and refuses the comparison. He does not let the quarrel displace his own combat priorities: his flaming cavalry lance drives back two opponents and melts their equipment, while he watches Li Xuanfeng with wary attention. Later, as cultivators gather around the cauldrons, he urges them to stop delaying and proposes duels to divide the prizes. Murong Gong and another devil cultivator attack him together instead, turning an old insult into a direct contest over resources. (Chapters 826–827, 835)

Fangjing defeats both attackers, pursues them with sheets of True Flame, and emerges carrying two great cauldrons despite further pursuit. His conspicuous flight draws enemies away from Xuanfeng and Si Yuanli, while Gao Fu observes the gains with delight. The performance marks him as the clan’s greatest talent in nearly a century, rather than merely another northern entrant. He later reaches Purple Mansion, an advancement announced by Ch’i Lanyan as the reason the Gao Family can spare another cultivator for a southern descent. (Chapters 837, 841–842, 1500)

Appearance and personality

He is a burly man in dark crimson and black robes who carries a cavalry lance. Golden-red True Flame gleams in his eyes and surrounds his body in battle. He answers enemies with cold retorts and loud, mocking laughter, but is more measured when addressing the formidable Xuanfeng and proposing a practical division of spoils. (Chapters 826–827, 832, 835, 837)

Abilities and cultivation

True Flame and equipment suppression

Fangjing combines lance strikes with golden-red arcs and broad sheets of True Flame. The flame is particularly effective against dharma artifacts: Zhong Qian’s spear becomes red-hot and a Golden Feather cultivator’s sword begins to warp, forcing them to retreat. Fangjing identifies the latter’s mixed metal and water cultivation as poorly suited to resisting his fire. He regularly exploits this property to render opponents’ equipment ineffective during a fight, and its strength lets him drive off two attackers competing for the cauldrons. His later Purple Mansion breakthrough is established, but the specific divine abilities completed with it are unknown. (Chapters 827, 835–837, 1500)

Relationships

  • Gao Fu: Clan king who is proud of his victories and spoils. (Chapters 832, 842)
  • Murong Gong: Rival who insults the Gao lineage and then attacks him over the cauldrons. (Chapters 826, 835, 837)
  • Li Xuanfeng: Powerful southern competitor whom he treats cautiously; Fangjing’s later escape diverts pursuers from him. (Chapters 835, 841)
  • Zhong Qian: Opponent whose spear is overheated by Fangjing’s True Flame. (Chapter 827)

Items

His cavalry lance channels arcs of True Flame in battle. He seizes two great cauldrons during the contest; their acquisition demonstrates his success against rival cultivators without establishing any permanent power he gains from them. (Chapters 826–827, 835, 841)
