Murong Gong

Murong Gong was a Purple Essence devil cultivator whose attack broke Mount Yan Pass. His success against the weakened defenders was followed by disputes with other northern cultivators and a failed attempt to overpower Gao Fangjing. (Chapters 816, 825–826, 835, 837)

Biography

Victory and factional rivalry

Murong Gong charged through Mount Yan Pass after its defense had been emptied, breaking the formation and driving Zhao Tinggui and Lin Wuning south. He followed them at a measured pace, apparently hoping to lure out further prey, then pressed harder near the river. Zhao's decision to stay behind with the White Blossom Lamp gave Lin a chance to escape and forced Gong to treat the remaining defender seriously. His strength and equipment made him dangerous against the disrupted line, but the chase also depended on the defenders having already lost their supporting forces. (Chapter 816)

During the Chengshui conflict, Gong tried to persuade Zhong Qian to stop fighting him by offering a recommendation to Purple Mansion cultivators and blaming Murong En for failing to appreciate Zhong's talent. The refusal left Gong occupied while hostile cultivators attacked his side. He also provoked Gao Fangjing over his family's adopted surname, then regretted the quarrel when Xuanfeng appeared and Gao withheld the assistance Gong wanted. Gong hid in violet mist to evade the archer and redirected his attack toward Lingu Rao. He later joined another devil cultivator against Gao, but Gao defeated both and pursued them as they fled. Their shared northern camp provided no lasting unity against personal hostility and competition. (Chapters 825–826, 835, 837)

Appearance and personality

Gong is openly mocking toward defeated enemies and fiercely hostile about lineage prestige. His disdain gives way to caution when he confronts Xuanfeng's archery and acknowledges Gao Fangjing's superior strength. (Chapters 816, 826)

Abilities and cultivation

Gong cultivates Purple Essence and uses violet radiance and mist. His attacks carry a dispersing force that prevents Zhao Tinggui's flying artifact from activating fully; the precise technique and possible Water Mansion equipment are uncertain. A dharma artifact helps him break the pass formation. Against Xuanfeng, his mist conceals his position well enough to prevent immediate targeting, but it does not secure victory, and Gao's True Flame later drives him into flight. (Chapters 816, 826, 835, 837)
