Fei Tongyu

Fei Tongyu inherits responsibility for the Fei Family while it is exposed to rival clans and sect politics. He preserves the clan through cautious alliances, but his later fixation on revenge threatens the same family he once tried to protect. (Chapters 341–346, 355, 620–621, 903)

Biography

A clan leader under siege

When his grandfather Fei Wangbai is killed and his father is absent, Tongyu must lead the Fei Family as the Yu clan attacks Glacial Cloud Peak. His brother urges him to seek the Li Family, but Tongyu fears they may not come; the Yu encirclement seals the peak before help can be assured. Li Tongya eventually arrives and rescues them, after which Tongyu explains the circumstances of Wangbai’s death and the Fei clan’s Patterned Brocade burial custom, hoping to learn the killer’s identity. He later accepts the next Azure Pond Sect disciple place for his clan despite recognizing that Yu Muxian may have political motives; Wangbai had regretted that the Fei Family could not support a sect disciple. (Chapters 341–342, 344–346, 355)

As family head, Tongyu keeps the clan formation active when Li Qinghong visits, yet personally comes out to greet her and Li Xuanfeng, showing both lingering distrust and a willingness to risk contact. He mourns his younger brother Fei Tongxiao, who died after failing to establish a Foundation, and receives a letter from his father. Years later, grief has hardened into a consuming grudge against Si Yuanli: Tongyu presses his daughter for intelligence about Yuan Xiu’s remaining lifespan and dismisses her warning that the Fei family may be endangered by surveillance and its ties to the Li clan. He falls silent when she makes the risk plain. (Chapters 620–621, 903)

Appearance and personality

Tongyu is described as handsome and elegant, often carrying a fan and speaking with practiced courtesy. His politeness coexists with caution; under pressure he can hesitate, while later grief makes him dangerously single-minded. (Chapters 232, 294, 903)

Abilities and cultivation

During the Yu-family siege, Tongyu is described at the peak of the Embryonic Breathing Realm. By the sect’s disciple-allocation meeting, he has just reached Qi Cultivation, and his aura is still unstable after medicinal aid. Later scenes do not specify another cultivation stage. His most visible responsibility is maintaining the Fei family’s Cloud Gathering Southern Heaven Formation, which protects the clan during the siege but requires Li Tongya’s arrival to bring the attack to an end. (Chapters 342, 344–345, 355)

Relationships

  • Fei Wangbai: His grandfather’s death makes Tongyu the clan’s leader and shapes his decision to accept a sect disciple place in Wangbai’s memory. (Chapters 341–346, 355)
  • Fei Tongxiao: Tongyu is protective of his younger brother and warns him not to discard the distinctive Six White Jade Chakras he formed through cultivation. Tongxiao’s later failed Foundation attempt and death deepen Tongyu’s grief. (Chapters 346, 621)
  • Li Qinghong: Tongyu’s early admiration is grounded in her ability and conduct rather than a serious romantic pursuit. Their later dealings are shaped by Fei-family distrust and the Li clan’s growing power. (Chapters 232, 294, 620–621)

Items

The Cloud Gathering Southern Heaven Formation belongs to the Fei Family and guards Glacial Cloud Peak. Tongyu relies on it during the Yu-family assault; it is a clan defense rather than his personal possession. (Chapters 340–342)
