Cui Jueyin

Cui Jueyin arrives from Chongzhou as a courteous mid-Foundation cultivator and becomes one of Li Ximing’s most trusted juniors. His Everbright Platform foundation gives him strong binding and pushing or pulling techniques, and he proves his worth both in battle and in the civil work of governing Milin. Jueyin’s service gradually turns a cautious family exchange into personal loyalty. When his native clan recalls him, he leaves with the Li family’s goodwill rather than treating the summons as a betrayal. Later he uses his relationship with both households to ease pressure on Chongzhou and preserve ties that remain valuable after his return. (Chapters 1080–1083, 1091–1098, 1128, 1271–1273, 1437, 1666–1672)

Biography

A Chongzhou junior enters the Li household

Jueyin is the second descendant of the Jue generation of the Cui Family of Chongzhou Island. His family describes him as courteous and magnanimous, and sends him to serve at Moongaze Lake as part of its renewed relationship with Ximing. He accepts the invitation with gratitude, recognizing the chance to cultivate under a Purple Mansion patron. His move also reflects the Cui family’s caution: their elder, Cui Xianye, chooses a junior unlikely to offend Ximing. (Chapters 1080–1083, 1666)

Jueyin is already at mid Foundation Establishment and has been trained in the fifth-grade Everbright Platform. He speaks about his experiences without embellishment and quickly notices the Wei imperial blood in Zhouwei’s golden eyes, paying him princely respect. He also understands that Li Wen’s close personal bond with Ximing matters more than any simple comparison of combat strength. His courtesy is not mere submission; it lets him serve without creating needless rivalry inside the Li household. (Chapters 1080, 1083, 1085–1086)

The Wilderness campaign and new diplomatic trust

During the struggle for the Wilderness, Jueyin helps defend the allied line against the stronger Capital Immortal Dao. When Gongsun Baifan tries to reach Zhouwei, Jueyin uses luminous footwork to draw him into the Everbright Platform’s binding force. Spell arts hold Baifan in place while the platform batters him. Jueyin later shifts to reinforce the weaker side instead of chasing an individual victory, coordinating with Zhouwei and Fu Yuezi. (Chapters 1091–1098)

Zhouwei’s transformation briefly shocks Jueyin and disrupts his concentration, allowing an opponent to close the distance. This lapse reveals the limits of his composure under extraordinary pressure, but does not erase his contribution to the defense. After the campaign, Ximing chooses him as a companion for negotiations with Purple Smoke Gate, valuing his tact and upbringing. Jueyin learns the inland political landscape, tours with Wei Danying and builds a friendly rapport before returning to summon the Li family’s responsible officers. Martial skill and diplomatic judgment become complementary parts of Ximing’s trust in him. (Chapters 1096–1098, 1121–1124)

An administrator and teacher reshapes Milin

Zhouwei entrusts Jueyin with governing Milin and places Li Jiangliang under his care. Jueyin handles construction, sect relations and the recruitment of eastern-shore families while Ximing is absent. He oversees the Penetrating Mountain Profound Pins and submits regular reports, and he mediates matters involving Purple Smoke Gate’s proposed adoption of Ding Mu and Ding Mu’s mother’s relationship with Cao Chu. He warns about the consequences of forcing too many shore families into new offices rather than treating every administrative order as harmless. (Chapters 1128, 1231–1234, 1246)

Under Jiangqian’s direction, Jueyin revises three curricula based on 667 Dao Collection volumes and prepares Dao Stipend scrolls. He organizes an academy open without charge to mortal family members, then reports unexpectedly broad enrollment and recruitment pressure from Grace Covenant Gate. The academy gives poorer relatives access to Dao learning and helps ease divisions between family branches. Zhouwei later recognizes that Jueyin has been more attentive to Jiangliang’s education than he was himself, confirming that Jueyin’s influence extends beyond his office. (Chapters 1236, 1245–1246, 1269, 1511)

Defending Milin and finding Ding Weizeng

As Milin governor, Jueyin refuses Crimson Reef Island’s demand for land where it can gather Merging Fire qi, arguing that the method harms living beings and that the mainland’s righteous gates constrain such conduct. When the island’s forces attack, Jueyin combines his spells with Fu Yuezi’s defenses, helps the Kong faction withdraw and preserves Milin. He credits Fu Yuezi for the defense instead of claiming all the merit himself. (Chapters 1157, 1162, 1176)

The assault sends the lake’s central figures overseas, leaves Chenghui dead and Ding Weizeng missing. Jueyin searches for more than half a year across the mainland and sea, carrying a jade pendant that cannot detect Ding in the river palace. He approaches Ying Hebai for aid, respects the limit that Ying will help only through personal ties, and eventually finds Ding alive. He secures Ding’s return and reports the Grace Covenant Gate’s changed position. At the lake, he receives Tinglan’s manifested message alongside Zhouluo and disperses a crowd mocking the distressed Kong guests. His grief and pity show that his tact is not simply self-interested diplomacy. (Chapters 1187–1188, 1191, 1204, 1206)

Fear of Luoxia and the limits of worldly competence

When Mount Luoxia’s decree reaches the lake, Jueyin’s fear is shaped by a thousand years of pressure on the Cui family. He swears compliance and admits that his family has suffered, but cannot safely explain more. Li Jiangqian recognizes the depth of his distress and stops pressing him. Jueyin later delivers sensitive orders after steadying himself; his fear is neither cowardice nor proof that he agrees with the decree. (Chapters 1271–1273)

He remains a practical intermediary rather than an all-knowing strategist. Jueyin’s spell arts fail to wake Chen Yang from an abnormal influence, and he yields to Tinglan’s more effective intervention. When raiders use techniques resembling those of South Chou Waters, he reports what he sees without insisting that appearance proves identity. He holds a seal ready to restrain the impulsive Ding Weizeng and gives Daoist Bai a face-saving way to retreat, helping preserve a fragile northern balance instead of turning suspicion into open war. (Chapters 1316, 1326–1327, 1334)

His family’s loss of the Eastern Fire Grotto Heaven remains a source of grief. Jueyin cannot safely overturn that history or protect Chongzhou from powers far above it, but he accompanies Ximing’s sect diplomacy and helps transmit the information the lake needs. His cultivated knowledge is useful; his inherited fear marks where it stops. (Chapter 1342)

A defender recalled against his wishes

When devil raiders attack the northern shore, Jueyin leads the defense against black qi, scatters it with demon-dispelling bright fire and warns that the attackers’ refined arts are suspicious. Elite opponents temporarily restrain him, showing the limits of his defense. Later, Chongzhou’s losses and lack of a Purple Mansion master make his return important to his native family; Yangya brings a continuation of Everbright Platform and demands that he go back. (Chapters 1437–1438, 1519)

Jueyin kneels to ask Ximing’s forgiveness and pleads that Yangya not be blamed. His immediate fear is that leaving will fracture the relationship between the Li and Cui families. Ximing releases him, gives him techniques and provisions, and feels both heartache and anger at the recall. Zhouwei recognizes that Yangya is trying to keep Chongzhou clear of the north–south crisis. Jueyin returns for cultivation and clan duty, not because he has abandoned the Li household; the promised future Purple Mansion advancement remains only a prospect. (Chapter 1519)

Protecting Chongzhou through an enduring personal bond

Years later, Jueyin is still managing unsettled sea affairs as a dangerous sea official pressures Chongzhou. The island’s elders fear that maintaining open ties with the Li family will expose them to Luoxia. Jueyin advises Juechen to receive the envoys cautiously, tolerates Sea Patroller Hui’s sudden flattery without claiming authority he does not have, and serves Zhouwei during his visit. When Cui Changyan is pressed, Jueyin uses a kneeling tea offering to defuse the moment. (Chapters 1666–1668)

Jueyin’s connection to the White Qilin earns respect even from an arrogant official. Zhouwei reassures Chongzhou that it need not stand against Luoxia on the Li family’s behalf, and Jueyin is treated as half a Li clansman. The two families renew a concrete exchange: Zhouwei conditions three Bright Yang spirit pills on one being reserved for Jueyin’s future breakthrough and gives Changfu an artifact that Jueyin may inherit if Jueyin reaches Purple Mansion. This visit strengthens their alliance, but it does not show Jueyin himself advancing to Purple Mansion. (Chapters 1668–1672)

Appearance and personality

Jueyin is described as elegant and scholar-like, with the manner of someone educated to carry himself before powerful people. He uses luminous steps in combat and wears his family background without turning it into a claim of superiority. In conversation he is courteous, observant and restrained; he notices social details such as imperial blood and understands when personal ties carry more weight than formal rank. (Chapters 1080–1083, 1091, 1121–1124)

He can be brave under pressure and diligent in civil work, but his greatest strength is disciplined judgment. He gives credit to allies, serves people beyond his own branch and can acknowledge fear without letting it turn into needless retaliation. His loyalty to Ximing is real, yet he also honors his native clan’s summons. Rather than choosing one family by publicly denouncing the other, he keeps their relationship workable. (Chapters 1176, 1236, 1245, 1269, 1271–1273, 1511, 1519, 1666–1672)

Abilities and cultivation

Everbright Platform and Chongzhou heavenly light

Jueyin’s Everbright Platform Immortal Foundation binds and pulls targets with radiant force. He can direct dazzling, scorching light from his sleeves, push or draw opponents out of position, and manifest the platform to batter someone caught within its reach. Spell arts and radiant footwork complement the foundation. He can contain multiple Foundation opponents and support an allied line, but four coordinated enemies can strain him; distraction weakens his control, and elite raiders can restrain him temporarily. (Chapters 1080–1083, 1091–1098, 1437–1438)

Radiant footwork and spellcraft

Luminous steps let Jueyin redirect himself and opponents, while shifting footwork can dissolve a close attack. He uses Radiant Light for long travel and perception techniques to examine visitors and their tokens. His hand-seal spell arts can attempt to disrupt unusual conditions, but they do not reliably overcome the True Monarch’s influence affecting Chen Yang. His Foundation realm supplies substantial combat power without granting an autonomous great-void technique or Purple Mansion abilities. (Chapters 1091–1098, 1187, 1204, 1313–1316)

Governance, scholarship and diplomacy

Jueyin reads political relationships, manages construction and reporting, revises technical curricula and uses courtesies to prevent conflict. His work organizing the academy expands Dao learning among mortal branches, while his handling of Chongzhou envoys preserves ties across rival centers of authority. These are learned skills and institutional responsibilities, not supernatural powers; Luoxia’s decree and the loss of his family’s grotto heaven remain beyond his control. (Chapters 1128, 1236, 1245, 1269, 1271–1273, 1342, 1511, 1666–1672)

Relationships

  • Li Ximing: His patron and mentor in practice, who treats him as a worthy junior, chooses him for diplomacy and later releases him when Chongzhou recalls him. Their personal trust outlasts Jueyin’s daily service at the lake. (Chapters 1080–1083, 1121–1122, 1519, 1666–1672)
  • Li Zhouwei: A commander in the Wilderness campaign and the ruler who entrusts Jueyin with Milin and Jiangliang’s education. Zhouwei later reassures Chongzhou that the Li family will not demand it fight Luoxia. (Chapters 1091–1098, 1128, 1511, 1668–1672)
  • Li Jiangliang: His student and charge in Milin. Jueyin gives him years of personal instruction and helps build an academy for broader family education. (Chapters 1128, 1236, 1245, 1511)
  • Fu Yuezi: A battlefield ally whose defenses help preserve Milin. Jueyin credits his contribution rather than claiming the victory alone. (Chapter 1176)
  • Ding Weizeng: A fellow Li defender whom Jueyin searches for across land and sea after the Milin assault. He finds Ding alive and secures his return. (Chapters 1187–1188, 1191)
  • Tinglan: A Purple Smoke ally whose manifested message Jueyin receives alongside Zhouluo while helping restore the lake’s position after the attack. (Chapter 1204)
  • Cui Xianye and Yangya: Chongzhou elders who first send Jueyin to the Li family and later recall him. Jueyin serves both families rather than treating the recall as a personal betrayal. (Chapters 1080, 1437–1438, 1519, 1666)

Items

The Everbright Platform is the named expression of Jueyin’s Immortal Foundation rather than evidence of a separate cultivation realm. He also carries a jade pendant during his search for Ding Weizeng, though it cannot detect Ding’s presence in the river palace. His technical texts, reporting materials and tools serve his work in Milin but do not signify a separate combat advancement. (Chapters 1080–1083, 1187–1191, 1236, 1245, 1269)
