Chehong

Chehong is a Purple Mansion cultivator of Chunyi Dao Gate and a junior of Fuxuan. He represents a newly flourishing generation of his lineage, balancing its wish for recognition with caution toward more powerful neighbors. (Chapters 1381–1382, 1456)

Biography

Guarding Chunyi’s standing and inheritance

Chehong initially receives Chi Buzi with distrust, unwilling to accept the visitor’s claim of kinship through the Supreme Yang Dao. Buzi’s display of Chunyi’s own Chougui Hidden Form changes the matter from an unwelcome visit to a problem of ancestral inheritance. Ordered to admit him, Chehong observes the ensuing investigation, purifies himself before bringing out the ancestral mirror, and retrieves the Chougui Water Seeking Method. He then brings forward an aged volunteer willing to accompany Buzi rather than spend his final years without contributing to the gate. Chehong thus helps his elders negotiate an opportunity they cannot simply dismiss despite their suspicions. (Chapters 1381–1382)

At Mount Tangdao, Chehong gives vigorous support to the Supreme Yang alliance after Tinglan acknowledges him as a fellow disciple. The recognition matters because Chunyi has long been treated as an uncertain branch, and he regards their loyal assistance as an answer to earlier belittlement. The failed struggle and Kuiqi’s fall temper that satisfaction: Chehong understands that his gate cannot risk its aged principal master while threatened by other sea powers. When Buzi returns, he helps complete the promised exchange, returns the visitor’s pledged treasures, and guards Fuxuan’s chamber while questioning their returning elder. His loyalty remains centered on securing Chunyi’s future, even as he welcomes broader orthodox recognition. (Chapters 1428, 1456–1458)

Appearance and personality

Chehong wears white robes embroidered with waves and crescents, with a pale silver jade belt. He has a high-bridged nose and a watchful expression. He is cool toward threatening outsiders but perceptive about political overtures, recognizing both Buzi’s leverage and an older visitor’s attempt to probe the Lis’ inheritance. (Chapters 1381, 1456)

Abilities and cultivation

Supreme Yin cultivation

Chehong is a Purple Mansion cultivator of Chunyi’s Supreme Yin inheritance. He recognizes Chougui Hidden Form at sight and uses Supreme Yin radiance during the alliance’s siege of Maha Beigu. Even the combined attack fails to dismantle the Maha’s Buddhist kingdom, demonstrating that the alliance’s radiance does not automatically suppress every opponent. His divine ability is visibly dimmed after withdrawing from the fierce battle. (Chapters 1381, 1428, 1456)

Relationships

  • Fuxuan: Elder whose negotiations and inheritance investigations Chehong supports.
  • Chi Buzi: Initially distrusted visitor whose exchanges with Chunyi Chehong helps administer.
  • Tinglan: Acknowledges him as a fellow disciple before the northern struggle. (Chapters 1381–1382, 1456–1458)

Items

Chehong ceremonially carries the ancestral Supreme Circuit Spirit Mirror and opens the golden jade slip containing the Chougui Water Seeking Method. He also temporarily handles Buzi’s pledged Rain-Viewing Precious Cauldron and Ink Jade, returning both during the later exchange. These are custodial duties rather than personal acquisitions.
