Modo Lagos

Modo Lagos is a senior Modo Civilization officer assigned to inspect and supervise Roddick's expedition fleet. He manages resources, intelligence, and political accountability through Modo's deteriorating Flickering World campaign. He is unrelated to Alumera Lagos, who died centuries of story history earlier.

Biography

The Flickering World

Lagos arrives as an inspector with limited authority to interfere in Roddick's military command but direct access to Modo's upper echelons. He helps assess the expedition's manpower, reports on a suspected virtual intrusion, and worries that Roddick is risking too many Calamity Grade operatives on covert work. Their different offices create friction, yet repeated setbacks force them into a close administrative partnership. (Chapters 1011–1012, 1030, and 1037)

Intelligent Plague and the Association

As Modo's position collapses, Lagos proposes recruiting Immortals against the Black Star Army and helps design a scheme to manipulate Aesop with the Soul Swapper so that Ames will turn against Han. The plan fails and makes Lagos and Roddick direct targets. Their civilization abandons the expedition, the Super Star Cluster Alliance refuses rescue, and Lagos accepts that flight from a Virtual Mechanic is futile. Han's mechanical troops bypass the command center's defenses and annihilate it, explicitly killing both officers. (Chapters 1152–1159 and 1175–1176)

Appearance and personality

The corpus supplies no stable physical description. Lagos is restrained, administrative, cautious about operational losses, and willing to challenge Roddick's temper. Mounting pressure makes him desperate enough to endorse a dangerous indirect attack, then bitter and resigned when Modo abandons the people carrying out its policy. (Chapters 1011–1037 and 1152–1176)

Abilities and class

No Super class or personal combat ability is established. Lagos's demonstrated strengths are political access, resource management, strategic analysis, personnel oversight, and covert planning. Institutional authority cannot protect him when Han attacks the expedition directly. (Chapters 1011–1012, 1030, and 1152–1159)
