Lin Yao

Lin Yao is a young Division 13 hacker assigned to Zhang Wei's covert-operations team. Although anxious in physical danger, he provides the electronic intrusion, monitoring, and communications support that lets stronger field agents penetrate Germinal bases and act on intelligence supplied by Han Xiao.

Biography

Escape from Germinal and the Aquamarine War

Lin Yao first joins Li Yalin and Lambert in a raid on a Germinal server room, bypassing security and extracting valuable data while the others hold off the guards. He later becomes Han Xiao's indispensable hacker during the Dark Crow Valley operation. Despite his fear and lack of spying experience, he infiltrates the inner base with Lambert, plants a dormant virus in its communications, tracks the secret retreat, and activates the disruption during the ambush. He remains with Zhang Wei's team through the Aquamarine war and is alive when they learn that their former teammate is both Black Phantom and Germinal's traitor Zero. Appearance and personality

Lin Yao is a young-looking man about 1.7 meters tall. Later descriptions say that he still looks mistreated, matching his timid bearing. He stammers, sweats, trembles, and expects the worst during dangerous infiltrations, but he does not abandon his assignment and can become indignant when allies betray the team. He admires Han Xiao as “Brother Xiao,” responds modestly to praise, and frequently becomes the harmless target of Li Yalin's teasing or rough affection. (Chapters 34, 80, 82, 87–88, and 135)

Abilities and class

No Super class is established for Lin Yao. He is a specialist hacker who opens secured doors, monitors stolen camera feeds, copies server data, plants malicious code, and disables an enemy communications network at a chosen moment. He carries the team's electronic tools and can work rapidly under pressure, though he contributes little to direct combat and is explicitly kept away from some frontline fighting. Relationships

• Han Xiao: Lin Yao respects Han Xiao's technical skill and follows his infiltration plans even while frightened. He later helps confirm Han Xiao's hidden identities and regards his history with awe.
• Zhang Wei: Zhang Wei is Lin Yao's team leader and assigns him the electronic and support work suited to his skills.
• Li Yalin: Li Yalin is his more confident frontline teammate. She relies on his hacking but also pinches, shoves, or slaps him when excited or angry.
• Lambert: Lambert protects Lin Yao during raids and infiltrates Dark Crow Valley beside him, balancing Lin's nervousness with quiet composure.

Items

Lin Yao uses portable hacking equipment, a tablet, access cards, micro-earphones, and a tool bag during Division 13 operations. None is established as a persistent named personal item, and most of the equipment is issued for specific missions rather than presented as his private property. (Chapters 34 and 80–84)
