Vinei

Vinei is the black bird who rules the Crystal realm's darkness, commands its monsters, and later abandons divinity to become a genuine Mythical Phoenix. His alliance with Lex Williams helps transform the Crystal realm and free him from its old constraints, while his immense experience and darkness authority make him one of the Inn's most formidable allied guests.

Biography

Awakening the monster armies

Vinei spends ages as the object of continuous monster worship, confined by a Deity's inability to leave his realm. Sensing an aura powerful enough to offer escape, he commands the kneeling hordes to assemble for the first time in their lives. He subsequently leads the monsters against the Kraven amid the Ventura examination, introducing a new power center into the realm's war. Cornelius predicts that if the realm permits Heaven Immortals, Vinei's hundreds of thousands of immortal followers will make his rule effectively unchallengeable. (Chapters 710 and 1308–1315)

Alliance, death, and rebirth

Lex returns with a Profane core able to break law-based bindings, and Vinei helps formulate a plan that serves both their goals. He accepts the agonizing destruction of his divine existence without crying out, relying on his Mythical bond to the realm and an enormous mythos accumulated from millions of immortal worshippers. His apparent death removes the divine shackle; as the Crystal realm fuses into the Primordial Garden and rises, Vinei undergoes universal punishment for forsaking divinity and rebuilds himself as a Heaven Immortal Phoenix rather than returning to his former office. Life after the Crystal realm

The reborn Vinei studies the Crystal Phoenix and delays visiting the Inn because he must digest millions of years of accumulated power in a new cultivation framework. Lex finds him deceptively formidable at level one Heaven Immortal: his Mythical Phoenix nature and the realm's ascension give him limited adaptation to the Primordial environment. Vinei later appears at the Inn as a black phoenix and strikes a deal to accelerate Mary's construction of a body, showing that his alliance has shifted from wartime necessity to active cooperation. Appearance and personality

Vinei begins as a black bird resembling the Sol and Frio birds but aligned with darkness, enthroned in a moon-sized temple amid worshipping monsters. After rejecting divinity he is a black Mythical Phoenix whose aura inspires reflexive fear and reverence even in former subjects. He is patient, secretive, and calculating enough that Lex treats possible betrayal as plausible, yet he also endures extraordinary pain without complaint and contributes detailed planning rather than resisting changes that advance both parties' aims. Darkness law and monster creation

As the Deity of Darkness, Vinei is responsible for a Crystal-realm law that creates monsters from darkness and commands every monster in the realm. His name itself carries power among them, and the oldest hordes include vast numbers of Earth Immortals poised to rise when the realm's limit changes. This authority is strongest through the realm and its monster population; it is not evidence that Vinei individually possesses every follower's power, and leaving divinity changes the foundation of that command. Divine mythos and binding

Millions of years of worship build a terrifyingly strong mythos around Vinei, while his innate status as a Mythical being anchors him into the Crystal realm's laws. That foundation makes destroying the divine role extraordinarily slow and painful, demonstrating both durability and constraint: the same law-based existence that empowers him prevents ordinary freedom and resists removal. A Profane core is required to strip away those bindings safely enough for his planned rebirth. (Chapters 1848 and 1857–1859)

Mythical Phoenix cultivation

After forsaking divinity, Vinei reaches level one Heaven Immortal as a genuine Mythical Phoenix. He retains immense accumulated experience, overwhelms a same-level image of Zagan, and carries a hint of Primordial aura because his home realm ascends into the Primordial Garden. This unusual combination makes him stronger than his numerical level suggests, but he still needs time to digest past gains and adapt them to ordinary cultivation rather than instantly accessing unrestricted higher realms.
