Ventura

Ventura is the unknown founder and owner of the universe-spanning Ventura academy, a ruler of five Major realms, and one of the Eight beings who have surpassed the Dao Lord realm. His true name, race, origin, and exact cultivation stage are not supplied; he is called Ventura after the institution he built. Though his academy and influence shape events long before he appears personally, his central objective is to end the universe's dangerous stagnation without provoking a ruinous confrontation with Eclipse.

Biography

Building influence around the Primordial Garden

Ventura's academy is already a universal institution before he enters the narrative directly. It recruits promising students such as Liz, operates multiple branches, and maintains an exchange with Eclipse: peak Celestial elders can strengthen their foundations in the Primordial Garden, while Eclipse's pets use a specially prepared portion of one of Ventura's realms for Dao tribulations. The arrangement serves both cultivation and diplomacy, giving Ventura rare access to the Garden while allowing Eclipse to help her dependents without exposing her domain to the wider universe. That cooperation follows an earlier conflict rather than uncomplicated friendship. Ventura once tried to take the Primordial Garden and learned that forcing Eclipse would be a grave mistake; afterward he apologised and continued trying to repair the relationship. He nevertheless remains one of the only outsiders able to reach her domain, and his schools maintain the exchange after he stops sending weaker students who were traumatized by it. The result is a wary, durable accommodation in which his ambition is checked by experience rather than abandoned. (Chapters 1895–1896, 2018, 2033, and 2066)

Entering the Innkeeper's tea party

Eclipse introduces Ventura as the enemy she has temporarily spared at the Innkeeper's tea party. He arrives as a thin, visually blurred figure, immediately probes the Innkeeper's concealment, and recognizes a deeper protection associated with Nuwa. Once Nuwa appears and warns him away from her affairs, Ventura changes course: he promises neither to act against the Innkeeper nor disclose what he has learned, judging continued access to Eclipse and the gathering more valuable than pressing a secret that could create a much greater conflict. Ventura's joviality does not prevent decisive intervention. When the Henali ruler's provocation threatens to turn the gathering into a universal war, he draws his weapon and orders the ruler to stop. He also uses the party to pursue institutional goals, embarrassing Wu Kong over refused teaching invitations, recruiting professors, and inviting guests who strengthen his own standing. His actions preserve the meeting while reinforcing the academy's network, demonstrating a preference for leverage and recruitment over fighting when both can achieve more lasting results. The party also clarifies why Ventura can afford that measured posture. He says more than nine hundred Dao Lords obey him across the five Major realms under his control, while families and organizations with children or assets in his academy have a direct interest in protecting it. Rather than attach himself to a wartime bloc, he treats this interdependence as a defensive alliance already built into the institution. His neutrality is therefore strategic, not isolationist: the academy converts education, investment, and access into a network capable of responding without requiring Ventura to reveal his own condition. Trying to end universal stagnation

In private, Ventura and Voidmaw approach the Innkeeper with the problem that motivates their diplomacy. The universe's opening era has lasted far beyond the normal span, preventing natural maturation and constraining Dao Lords in ways that may eventually drive them toward destructive madness. Ventura wants the Innkeeper to persuade Eclipse to leave the Primordial Garden and participate in finding a solution. He chooses an intermediary because his own attempt to pressure her failed and because another direct confrontation could damage the very universe he wants to preserve. (Chapters 2065–2066)

Ventura knows that Eclipse's refusal is connected to events in the Primordial Age, although he does not claim complete knowledge of that history. He argues that fear of the past cannot justify indefinite stagnation and that negotiated safeguards would be preferable to a conflict forced by worsening conditions. The Innkeeper neither formally accepts nor rejects the request, but his invitation for Eclipse to visit the Inn gives Ventura reason to believe progress is possible. Ventura leaves the tea party reminding him of the conversation, making persuasion rather than coercion the immediate path toward universal growth. (Chapters 2066 and 2114)

His conduct during the gathering reveals the same willingness to balance caution with consequential knowledge. Ventura joins a karmically bound exchange of secrets, waits to scale his own contribution to what others provide, and later responds seriously when the revelations concern the Nether, the Nexus, and the Gilded Hollow. He is capable of withholding information and protecting his interests, but he also contributes when doing so advances the collective inquiry. The disclosures help move the party beyond ceremony into a forum where the universe's oldest powers reassess threats they had treated as settled. (Chapters 2084–2096 and 2324)

Concealing his wounds and mobilizing Spirit

Ventura ends the party by giving the Innkeeper a token granting one worker free access to the academy's Dao Pedestal for a Dao tribulation. The gesture extends practical trust while reinforcing the academy's role as cultivation infrastructure. The moment Ventura returns home, however, his relaxed persona collapses: he coughs toxic green blood, orders professors to prepare for a possible invasion, and conceals his weakness so rivals cannot confirm an opportunity to probe him. His public generosity and composure therefore operate alongside an urgent defensive need to keep the academy from appearing vulnerable. (Chapters 2113–2115)

No medicine presently available in the universe can heal Ventura's wounds. He withdraws to a private chamber and submerges himself in an exceptionally rare liquid that suppresses rather than cures them, knowing suitable resources may become available only after universal maturation unless he can refine them himself. The origin and date of the injury are not narrated. Its consequence is clear: maintaining the appearance of full strength becomes essential, and his wish to accelerate the universe's growth is also connected to the practical limits placed on his own recovery. When Death, Destiny, Fate, Divine, Oblivion, Chaos, and Life begin moving, Ventura is identified with them as one of the Eight who surpassed the Dao realm. Pain and frustration make him reluctant to join the clash, but he resolves that he cannot ignore it and mobilizes the forces following Spirit. The decision shows that injury changes the cost of action without removing his responsibilities or will. He acts through affiliated forces rather than exposing himself directly, answering pressure while preserving as much of his restricted strength as possible. (Chapters 2185 and 2189)

Responding to the expanding war

Ventura continues projecting influence through the academy as the universal war worsens. Academy branches provide news, access routes, and a quest system for the Tyranum realm, rewarding cultivators who advance its objectives; Cornelius treats those rewards as more reliable than competing arrangements. When three Major realms are destroyed together, the news reaches Ventura immediately. This distributed structure lets him coordinate human and academy interests across realms even while his personal intervention remains constrained by injury and the universe's inability to support his full state. A universe-wide time freeze finally affects Ventura despite leaving ordinary Dao Lords unable even to sense its cause. Still injured, he concludes that direct options are limited and contacts Eclipse through the Speaker of her Dao Senate, avoiding an unannounced arrival that could be mistaken for aggression. He warns that a previously unknown ninth power or refugees from Pentagal may be manipulating the war, begins withdrawing his forces from the Dream realm, and considers preserving additional Major realms. At the endpoint, Ventura remains active and strategically responsive, but neither healed nor able to identify the force that exceeded the Eight. (Chapter 2395)

Appearance and personality

Ventura is male and appears as a thin, blurred humanoid figure whose actual body and race remain concealed. Even nearby observers cannot resolve his face or species, and the narrative explicitly treats his true name and origins as unknown. The concealment persists through social scenes rather than functioning as a momentary disguise. When he is alone and injured, the clearest physical detail is the toxic green blood he coughs, but that symptom does not establish his race or the nature of the original wound. He presents himself as jovial, sociable, and diplomatic, readily laughing at danger, teasing Eclipse, and smoothing tense gatherings. The charm is calculated without being wholly false: Ventura enjoys unusual company and spectacle, yet can drop all warmth when a threat requires authority. He is ambitious enough to have challenged Eclipse and to command an enormous educational empire, but the defeat taught him restraint. His later choices favor reciprocal benefit, information, and institutional leverage, while his private pain and grave response to the time freeze reveal the strain hidden beneath that ease. Abilities and cultivation

Unnamed post–Dao Lord state

Ventura has surpassed the Dao Lord realm, but the narrative never names the stage he attained. The distinction is observable even inside the Primordial Garden: although the Garden suppresses the law-based senses of Dao Lords, Ventura can still perceive more than they can. He sees through an outer concealment on the Innkeeper, recognizes high-level auras, and rapidly confirms that an apparent karmic transfer never truly detached from its source. These feats establish superior perception, not omniscience; Nuwa's deeper protection still blocks the identity he seeks, and some actions inside the Garden escape his senses entirely. Universal restriction and persistent injury

The immature universe cannot openly accommodate beings at Ventura's actual stage. Until maturation, the Eight's usable power is restricted to the Dao Lord range even though their underlying cultivation exceeds it. Ventura is also severely injured, a separate condition that further reduces what he can safely do rather than lowering his cultivation realm. His rare liquid bath suppresses the wounds but does not heal them, and Chapter 2395 still treats the injury as an active limit. No breakthrough, recovery, or canonical name for his state is supplied by the endpoint. (Chapters 2115, 2189, 2350, and 2395)

Perception, portals, and high-level action

Ventura can inspect protections that obstruct Dao Lord senses, recognize Nuwa's aura before her projection forms, create a portal to bring a chosen guest directly into the Primordial Garden gathering, and sense universe-scale changes associated with peers of the Eight. When the unknown time-freezing force acts, he recovers, distinguishes it from the other seven powers he knows, and communicates across factions through a remote projection. These capabilities remain vulnerable to superior forces and domain rules: he cannot resist the freeze, cannot identify its author, and avoids an unannounced personal arrival in Eclipse's territory. Institutional power and strategic command

Ventura controls five Major realms and commands more than nine hundred Dao Lords, professors, schools, portals, Dao-tribulation infrastructure, and a universe-wide investment network. He can issue defensive mobilization orders, assign quest-backed rewards in the Tyranum realm, and move the forces aligned with Spirit. This is organizational power rather than proof that he personally performs every action attributed to the academy. His approach deliberately distributes risk through vassals and allied interests, especially while universal restrictions and hidden wounds make a direct display more dangerous. Relationships

• Eclipse: Ventura once tried to take the Primordial Garden and was defeated, leaving them in an antagonistic but functional relationship. Their exchange agreements, teasing, shared threat assessment, and ability to communicate during crises make them strategic counterparts despite persistent distrust.
• Lex Williams: Ventura first notices Lex during a passing encounter and later knows him through the Innkeeper persona. He respects the Innkeeper's discretion, grants access to the academy's Dao Pedestal, and asks him to help persuade Eclipse to address universal stagnation.
• Voidmaw: Voidmaw is Ventura's confidant and partner in approaching the Innkeeper about the universe's arrested development. They share information, socialize easily, and coordinate their appeal without claiming that either can force Eclipse to act.
• Nuwa: Ventura recognizes Nuwa's protection around the Innkeeper and accepts her warning not to probe further. He treats her as a peer-level power whose interests are better handled through tact than confrontation.
• Nulli: Ventura invites Nulli's former husband to the tea party partly to unsettle Eclipse and enjoys Nulli's ability to disrupt the gathering's balance. They later remain among the few attendees able to face dangerous revelations without erasing their memories.
