Nuwa

Nuwa is an ancient human Dao Lord whose hidden support gives humanity standing in the realm wars. Her modern role is expressed through apostles such as Cassandra, covert agents, the Masterless technique, and a protective karmic veil placed around Lex Williams. (Chapters 892, 942, 1875, 2032–2034)

Biography

Hidden patron of humanity

For two ages Nuwa conceals the fact that she survived, while her name remains the public foundation of human protection. Cassandra describes humanity's position as dependent on Mother Nuwa's backing, and other followers identify themselves through her authority. Nuwa also sends agents to the Inn and teaches them the Masterless technique, allowing them to work without even Dao Lords easily investigating their identity or karma. These arrangements keep her influence broad while her person remains absent from ordinary political life. (Chapters 892, 942, 1517, 1853, 2264)

Protecting Lex and returning to notice

Nuwa hides Lex when his breakthrough threatens to broadcast a universe-spanning phenomenon, leaving remnant power that obscures his traces and later blocks another spectacle. Ventura's attempt to inspect the Innkeeper finally recognizes her aura, exposing that she is alive. Nuwa responds with a tremendously powerful clone, warns Ventura and Eclipse away from her affairs, and continues sheltering Lex from inside him even while exasperated by the dangers he attracts. She later tells him she will no longer keep helping, though his continuing expectation that she prevents hostile mental or karmic intrusion shows how decisive that protection has been. Appearance and personality

Nuwa's on-page manifestation is a female cloud-like clone whose presence is strong enough to surprise Ventura and challenge Eclipse inside Eclipse's own Seat of Power. She is commanding, protective, and impatient with powerful meddlers; her private sighs show weary humor about Lex, but her decisions consistently prioritize keeping him and wider human interests out of hostile scrutiny. Dao Lord authority and karmic concealment

Nuwa can place persistent power around another person, hide identity and universal phenomena, obscure karmic traces, and manifest a clone whose pressure exceeds what other supreme beings expect from a mere projection. Her veil is not absolute: Ventura recognizes its aura while probing the Innkeeper, and unexpected Time energy escapes the protection during Lex's breakthrough. Its strength lies in preventing most observers from noticing a target, not in making every possible effect impossible. (Chapters 1875, 2032–2034, 2360)

Masterless technique and creation

Nuwa teaches the Masterless technique to her agents, removing the handles by which powerful observers could trace or investigate them. The technique's deeper purpose is consequential enough to make Lex reassess humanity and the universe when he learns it. In the ancient universe, Nuwa and an unnamed partner also created several races to help contain primordial chaos and madness, establishing that her power extends beyond concealment into life-shaping creation.
