Vilax

Vilax is the captain of the Ozis IYSOP team and later a member of the expedition seeking survivors of Planet Ozious.

Biography

Captain of Ozious

Vilax enters IYSOP with a reputation that repeatedly places him among the competitors other captains fear. His signature redirection ability protects the Ozis team from traps, although the displaced effects can strike nearby rivals. After Ozious is destroyed and Handler One dies, Vilax rejects his father Handler Three's insistence that Gustav caused the disaster. Handler Three sends him to the Xelios Tower recovery team, turning a political argument into a mission to locate their enslaved kin. (Chapters 1178, 1289, and 1364)

The expedition against Seifiling

At Xelios Tower, Vilax tries to mediate when teammates attempt to arrest Gustav Oslov, then persuades the group to accept Gustav and Endric Oslov's help against Seifiling. Inside the slaver's vessel, Vilax recognizes a false Sersi, destroys the impostor, and marks the gateway it tried to use against him. After Gustav defeats Seifiling and frees billions, Vilax credits the brothers instead of claiming an Ozis victory. He then defends Gustav before the surviving Handlers and helps convince his father not to pursue their rescuer. (Chapters 1376–1400)

Appearance and personality

Vilax is an insect-like Ozis with two contrasting greenish eyes. He is proud of his people but more reflective than several teammates, repeatedly choosing mediation and gratitude over revenge. His willingness to oppose his father and the surviving leadership marks a strong independent conscience. (Chapters 1364 and 1376–1400)

Bloodlines and abilities

Like other Ozis, Vilax can imprint on, corrupt, and redirect energy. He is identified as the best on his team at this signature ability, allowing him to move the effect of triggered traps onto other locations or targets. He can also leave corruption marks for navigation and disintegrate hostile constructs, but redirection may endanger bystanders when no safe outlet is available. (Chapters 1289, 1305, and 1387)

• Gustav Oslov: Vilax moves from wary pursuer to mediator, ally, and outspoken defender after Gustav saves the captives.
• Endric Oslov: Endric joins Vilax's rescue mission and helps free the enslaved Ozis from within Zonpaktu.
• Osiark: Osiark is a fellow expedition member who joins Vilax in defending Gustav before the Handlers.
• Handler Three: Handler Three is Vilax's father; their conflict centers on whether institutional recovery justifies betraying Gustav.
