Uncle Bila

Uncle Bila is a senior Vertigon elder who initially resists Gustav's role in the search for the family Emblem. The mission changes him from a suspicious gatekeeper into one of Gustav's advocates and guides.

Biography

Suspicion inside the Vertigon council

Bila joins the relatives who question Gustav Oslov's right to handle the missing Emblem case and presses for a replacement. He frames that suspicion as defense of the family, but Madam Lilian overrules the objections and grants Gustav access. Bila obeys while continuing to ask about limits, making him an institutional obstacle without turning him into an enemy of the household's acting head. (Chapters 880–884)

Trust earned through recovery

As Gustav traces the cult and recovers the Emblem, Bila volunteers to guard the relic and witnesses the outsider's commitment to Stark Vertigon's mission. By the aftermath he openly admires Gustav and supports building a friendship with him. He then guides Gustav through the family cells and worries when prisoners appear to seize him, showing that distrust has become active concern. (Chapters 903–920)

Later witness to the NID

Much later, Bila is present when the restored NID is examined and its pointer indicates Planet Agon. His appearance connects the older Vertigon arc to the renewed search for larger threats, while confirming that he remains alive and involved as a trusted family elder. (Chapter 1507)

Appearance and personality

The retained corpus does not isolate a detailed physical description for Bila beyond his position as an older Vertigon relative. He is conservative, protective of family authority, and willing to voice suspicion even in a formal council. Importantly, he is also capable of revising that judgment: Gustav's conduct turns his guarded hostility into admiration and practical cooperation. (Chapters 880–884 and 903–917)

Bloodlines and abilities

Bila is explicitly identified as Delta-ranked and belongs to the Vertigon mixedblood lineage. The corpus does not clearly show which transformed Vertigon state he personally commands or provide enough mechanics to assign him another named technique.
