Madam Lilian

Madam Lilian is Stark Vertigon's mother and the acting head of the Vertigon family after her husband's death. She authorizes Gustav's search for the lost family Emblem and mobilizes the house against the cult holding it.

Biography

Opening the family to Gustav's search

Lilian convenes the suspicious Vertigon relatives and silences objections to Gustav Oslov's involvement. She defends his qualifications, grants broad access, and insists that family members not obstruct the mission. Her decision places institutional authority behind Stark's outsider ally, allowing Gustav to investigate the Emblem's disappearance instead of becoming trapped in a prolonged argument over family pride. Recovering the Emblem

Once the Emblem is recovered, Lilian secures it and prevents Stark from rushing into further danger. Learning that the cult master is Beta-ranked, she summons Viltru as a protector and mobilizes more than three hundred family troops for the raid. After the operation, she thanks Gustav and advocates a durable friendship with him, treating the successful recovery as a strategic relationship rather than a single paid favor. (Chapters 903–915)

The unresolved vault claim

In Lilian's last concentrated scene, the Satori master claims that she granted him access to the vault. Lilian responds with confusion, and the retained corpus does not resolve whether the statement exposes complicity, coercion, altered memory, or a lie. Appearance and personality

Lilian is a dark-skinned, middle-aged woman with long white hair and smooth features resembling Stark. She has led the family since her husband died of illness seven years earlier, because Stark was too young to take the position. Courteous but commanding, she can silence a hostile room, make rapid security decisions, and prioritize the family's survival over relatives' suspicions. (Chapters 880–883)

Lilian belongs to the Vertigon mixedblood family, whose lineage is associated with powerful transformed states, but her own form, mechanics, and formal rank are not directly demonstrated. Her operational power comes through command of family forces, access controls, and the ability to call protectors such as Viltru.
