NID
The NID is a sparsely documented Vertigon artifact that revives for Gustav and directs him toward Planet Agon after he misses the natural Warp Demolator. The supplied corpus does not expand the acronym or establish a broader operating history.
History
A single direction from the Vertigon vault
The NID is first mentioned after its guidance has already brought Gustav to Agon. The physical interaction is shown later in the Vertigon ancestral vault, where Uncle Bila watches the long-dormant artifact pulse with energy in Gustav's presence. Gustav places his palm against it while concentrating on the need to reach the remnants of Planet Humbad. (Chapters 1489, 1507)
The NID responds with only the projected words “Planet AGON,” then powers down. Bila says the artifact has never been wrong, but that is a family claim rather than a separately demonstrated guarantee. Gustav follows the answer because Agon is the only new path available, and he explains the result to his allies. No retained section shows him removing the NID from the vault, receiving it, or using it a second time. (Chapters 1507–1508)
Chapter 1618 contains a repeated or variant presentation associated with the same thin evidence rather than a clearly distinct new custody event. The article therefore limits the NID's confirmed public history to the vault activation and its Agon answer.
Abilities and properties
- Revives from dormancy in Gustav's presence and responds to a mentally held need through projected text. (Chapter 1507)
- Supplies a destination—Planet Agon—rather than a map, explanation, coordinates, or direct transport. (Chapters 1507–1508)
- Is claimed by Uncle Bila to have an infallible ancestral record, but the corpus offers only this one demonstrated answer. (Chapter 1507)
- Has no source-grounded expanded name, construction history, power cost, reuse interval, or independent combat function in the supplied scope.
