Scientist ZiL — The Bloodline System

Scientist ZiL is a celebrated Burning Sands researcher whose medical philanthropy, dimensional theory, and gratitude toward Gustav conceal a long project to abolish bloodlines by force.

Biography

Patron of Burning Sands science

ZiL first meets Gustav Oslov as the gigantic owner of Greyscale Pharmaceuticals and the grandfather of Damien. Grateful that Gustav protected his grandchildren, he provides access and information about Boss Danzo's underground matches. His wealth and prestige make him useful, yet Gustav senses something unsettling beneath the hospitality. (Chapters 674–700)

ZiL later recruits Gustav as a voluntary test subject for the Arhkum Serum, which is intended to strengthen ordinary human and Slarkov DNA and extend their lifespans. He asks permission, explains the risks, and needs Gustav's regeneration because weaker subjects suffer side effects; the cooperation gives him legitimate blood samples while presenting the research as an answer to families divided by mixedblood longevity. Dimensional research and the stolen sample

During examinations, Gustav discovers ZiL's suppressed Planetary Placement Dimensional Theory. ZiL had funded readings around Warp Demolator appearances and concluded that planets could be displaced rather than destroyed, work the government pressured him to abandon. His records later help Gustav confirm that Humbad survived and guide investigation of the Warp Demolator's history. (Chapters 705–1031)

The serum collaboration also gives ZiL access to Gustav's early cells. Without informed consent, he spends nearly three years growing the imperfect replica G2 so he can study cells before their ability-producing potential becomes vitality. The clone's public attacks initially obscure ZiL's involvement, while the scientist withdraws from family life and hides inside a distributed research network. (Chapters 1361–1414)

The Foral Project and arrest

ZiL abducts a weakened Gustav with G2's help and explains the Foral Project: erase every bloodline on Earth, then give humans, Slarkovs, and former mixedbloods non-bloodline abilities and regeneration derived from Gustav's cells. He believes abolishing grades will end discrimination, but dismisses Gustav's warnings that equalizing Earth downward would destroy its defenses and invite crime or extraterrestrial predation. When E.E., Endric, Damien, and Vera disrupt activation, ZiL tries to proceed despite G2's instability. Damien confronts his grandfather, Vera takes control of the clone, and ZiL is beaten unconscious and delivered to the MBO. His laboratories are stripped of essential evidence and burned; he remains alive in custody on charges of treason and illegal research, with his humanitarian goal inseparable from coercion and planetary risk. Appearance and personality

ZiL is approximately twelve feet tall yet appears no older than thirty despite being over seventy. He dresses with the polished formality expected of a prestigious industrialist and initially presents as warm, courteous, protective of his grandchildren, and respectful of Gustav's choice. His curiosity gradually overwhelms those boundaries. ZiL is visionary, secretive, stubborn, and sincerely preoccupied with unequal lifespans and bloodline discrimination, but he treats Gustav's body as a research resource and global consent as dispensable once convinced of his solution. His refusal to engage with strategic consequences turns idealism into fanaticism. (Chapters 705–1418)

Bloodlines and abilities

ZiL's own bloodline and formal rank are never established. His power is scientific, financial, and organizational: he owns advanced facilities, funds space readings, develops pharmaceuticals, grows an autonomous mixedblood replica, and builds technology that can disrupt abilities and spatial containment. He is not shown matching elite mixedbloods physically and depends on G2 and prepared devices when confronting Gustav. (Chapters 674–1418)

Arhkum Serum

The serum is designed to reinforce human and Slarkov DNA so their lifespans approach mixedblood longevity. Early subjects cannot tolerate the desired effect, so ZiL uses Gustav's strength and regeneration to identify the missing factor. The research remains experimental; its compassionate purpose does not establish that it ever becomes safe or generally effective. (Chapters 703–709)

Dimensional displacement research

ZiL's measurements around Warp Demolator appearances support the theory that a supposedly destroyed planet can be displaced across dimensions. The work is analytical rather than a personal travel ability and was abandoned under government pressure, but later evidence validates enough of it to guide Gustav toward Humbad. (Chapters 705–1031)

G2 and the Foral Project

G2 is an imperfect replica grown from Gustav's sampled cells, not ZiL's alternate identity. ZiL uses the clone to access early ability-producing cellular states and complete Foral, whose twofold mechanism would erase existing bloodlines and distribute replacement supernatural abilities. The plan requires equipment, the clone's cooperation, and Gustav-derived material; it is stopped before planetary activation. (Chapters 1412–1418)

Relationships

Gustav Oslov: ZiL first assists and studies Gustav, then secretly clones him and tries to use his cells to remake Earth's power system.
Damien: ZiL is Damien's grandfather; Damien's pride becomes disillusionment when he helps expose the Foral Project.
Boss Danzo: ZiL provides Gustav access to Danzo's underground matches and later holds research relevant to his rescue.
E.E: E.E helps stop ZiL and receives official credit for uncovering the plan.
Vera: Vera subverts G2, turning ZiL's strongest protector against him.
