History

The price of Emma's recovery

After Aaron damages Emma Roshfield's spine and leaves her unable to move her legs, Kevin Voss commits himself to winning Issanor's tournament and taking an Elven Tear as his reward. Ren Dover withdraws from contention in a way that preserves Kevin's opportunity, and Emma later understands that both men surrendered valuable rewards for her treatment. The dose restores her mobility, although the administration itself occurs between scenes rather than being mechanically described. (Chapters 383, 419–420, 440, 444–469)

A second negotiated dose

The story distinguishes Emma's cure from another Elven Tear sought by Ren. When Queen Maylin offers Ren his choice from the tournament treasures, he refuses the visible Tear because he considers Emma's dose Kevin's responsibility. Ren instead honors a promise connected to Hein's father by negotiating separately with Gernis Lasfront, who delivers a transparent flask in exchange for a future task requiring approximately S-rank strength. Properties and functions

An Elven Tear is a crystal-clear liquid stored in a small transparent or hexagonal glass flask. It is described as capable of healing practically all diseases regardless of seriousness and can address catastrophic physical injuries such as Emma's spinal damage. Its reach is not absolute: it cannot correct Ren's soul backlash, and a dose given to a curse victim whose life energy continues draining fails to stop that curse.
