Amanda's Bow

Amanda's Bow is the persistent focus of Amanda Stern's long-range style, channeling both physical ammunition and increasingly sophisticated mana arrows.

History

Lock Academy marksmanship

Amanda first demonstrates the bow by placing three restrained arrows through a tree close enough to force Emma Roshfield's surrender without injuring her. During Elijah's attack she summons and draws it even while drugged, and Ren later uses arrows from her quiver to frame her as the villain's killer. At Hollberg she supplies sustained covering fire until a quiver empties, immediately produces another, and coordinates her shots with Kevin and Emma. These early battles establish the bow as both precision weapon and team-support platform. (Chapters 18, 46–48, and 66–71)

Mana arrows and battlefield control

Amanda's training replaces dependence on physical arrows with blue constructs materialized at the drawn string. She strikes targets five hundred meters away, concentrates atmospheric mana into explosive projectiles, and develops arrows that change function after release: some become thin barriers, while another descends from above after the target is trapped. She can produce a dozen arrows at once, fire through distant windows without missing, and later reshape mana at the bow's ends into close-range blades when demons breach her preferred distance. The one shot against Jezebeth

Before the final battle, Ren entrusts Amanda with a single opportunity and tells her to release only when she is certain. She holds the empty bow drawn while waiting through the confrontation, then manifests an arrow surrounded by whispers and golden runes when Jezebeth's back is exposed. The law-laden shot ages and burns her hands while making the bow unbearably heavy. On release, the bow itself disintegrates into fine powder, marking the last confirmed state of the weapon. Properties and functions

Summoning and ammunition

Amanda can call the bow into her hand and dismiss it, indicating a summoned or stored manifestation rather than a weapon she must carry openly. Early scenes use arrows drawn from replaceable quivers; later, drawing the string forms translucent blue mana arrows directly between her fingers. The corpus does not state whether the quivers are part of the same summoning mechanism. (Chapters 46, 66, 145–148, 215, and 372)

Precision, power and variants

The bow translates Amanda's mana control and perception into exceptional range and accuracy. She can release multiple projectiles in rapid succession, concentrate atmospheric mana at a tip for a high-consumption explosive attack, split an attack into barriers and a descending finisher, or detonate an arrow after it destroys a demon core. Its frame can block in emergencies and can be edged with mana for melee, but Amanda is explicitly weaker at short range and can be disarmed if an opponent closes the gap. Final law interaction

The final arrow is not shown as an ordinary native function of the bow. Golden runes and severe bodily aging indicate that Amanda is channeling a one-use law effect prepared within Ren's plan. The weapon bears the load only long enough to release it and is destroyed immediately afterward, making the shot non-repeatable with the same bow. (Chapter 857)

Owners and users

• Amanda Stern: Sole established owner, summoner and wielder across the corpus. The bow responds to her mana and forms the core of her combat style. (Chapters 18–857)
• Ren Dover: Never owns or wields the bow. He briefly takes arrows from Amanda's quiver for the Elijah cover-up and later supplies the timing and law-based plan for her final shot. (Chapters 47–48 and 857)
