Oreg

Oreg is the Blackrock Clan's northern warlord and commander of its elite Orc Berserkers. The Orc Dominion dungeon depicts him dying as Orobak's lieutenant, but later chapters explicitly establish that the historical Oreg survived and remained one of the clan's strongest warriors.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

In the Orc Dominion scenario, Oreg initially supports Orobak and commands Berserkers trained to resist sedatives. Rather than defend his isolated northern camp against Barca's growing coalition, he abandons it and consolidates at Orobak's fortress—a tactically sound decision despite his reputation for limited subtlety. He then mans the walls and charges Lux's rear group when the siege breaks through (Chapters 99, 107–111).

Oreg's charge overwhelms Pazuzu and shrugs off shallow melee wounds, forcing Lux's party to layer blindness, knockback, poison, archery, and ranged magic. Once blinded, Oreg takes a defensive stance but cannot escape the accumulating damage; Morgazar lands the killing arrow. His scenario body dissolves into light and drops axes, a Beast Core, and a necklace, confirming that this is a dungeon defeat rather than the later living Orc's corpse (Chapter 111).

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

The real Blackrock history directly corrects the reconstruction: Oreg did not die, allowing the clan to retain its Berserker strength. He is now a Peak-Argonaut Alpha warlord who distrusts Lux, dismisses his warning about the Destroyer, and accepts Heaven's Gate only at Lady Avyanna's command. The guild's regeneration rapidly heals his wounds and changes his assessment from skepticism to confidence that the clan can win (Chapters 592, 599, 606–607).

Oreg leads the Berserkers into the Haca formation, breaking organized ranks through ferocious close combat. He later smashes Ronan's already-damaged legendary shield with a gauntleted blow and remains among the powerful Orcs retained by Lux's guild. His survival through the campaign confirms that later Oreg is the historical warlord, not an undead revival of the dungeon version (Chapters 609–611, 614).

Appearance and personality

Oreg is a massive Orc Berserker, tall enough that Lux reaches only his waist, and is associated with bloodshot eyes, war axes, and later heavy gauntlets. He is blunt, aggressive, proud, and quick to dismiss low-ranked advice, yet capable of strategic withdrawal when isolated. His loyalty to the Blackrock Clan and obedience to its chieftain are more durable than his contempt for outsiders (Chapters 107, 110–111, 599, 607).

Berserker abilities

The reconstructed Oreg fights with two war axes, great strength, high health, and resistance to sedative drugs. His charge sends obstacles flying and initially overpowers Pazuzu's shield work; even Matty's direct Triple Slash causes only shallow cuts. His elite Berserkers share the head-on “either you die, or I die” doctrine, making Oreg an effective shock commander (Chapters 107, 109–111).

High health does not prevent status effects. Repeated Void Arrows eventually blind him, percentage-based poison steadily erodes him, and coordinated ranged attacks deny retaliation. The historical Peak-Argonaut Alpha benefits from natural Orc regeneration further strengthened by Heaven's Gate, but he still accumulates wounds against designated High-Ranker teams and must retreat to heal. His later gauntlet strike excels at breaking an already-stressed defense (Chapters 111, 607, 610–611).

Relationships

  • Barca: Oreg opposes Barca in the dungeon reconstruction but follows the Blackrock leadership beside him in true history (Chapters 99–111, 595–614).
  • Orobak: The reconstructed Oreg remains Orobak's last loyal warlord and dies defending his fortress; this outcome is explicitly not the historical record (Chapters 107–112, 592).
  • Lux: Oreg initially scorns Lux and rejects his warning, then joins Lux's guild at Avyanna's command and gains regenerative power from it (Chapters 599, 606–607).
  • Morgazar: Morgazar kills the dungeon version with a final long-range shot, while the living historical versions of both later serve the clan together (Chapters 111, 595).
