Orobak

Orobak is the ruling Orc Chieftain opposed by Barca in the Orc Dominion scenario. He is a heavily armed warlord whose ambition, resentment, and numerical advantage make him the scenario's central enemy, though later evidence warns that the reconstructed events do not perfectly reproduce Orc history.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Orobak rules through four warlords and rejects Barca's claim, turning the Orc Dominion into a contest over leadership and survival. His hostility is personal as well as political: he recalls Barca's mother choosing Barca's father and treats the surviving son as a threat that should have been killed in infancy. From his fortress, he mobilizes a larger army and prepares to crush the challenger rather than negotiate (Chapters 99, 107–108).

The final engagement pits Orobak's rank and equipment against Lux's preparation. He fights as a Rank 5 Orc boss, using direct martial pressure and rage-enhanced skills, but accepts a Duel without recognizing the terrain trap beneath him. Knockback and quicksand prevent him from recovering his footing, and he suffocates despite his raw power. His death ends the scenario's immediate succession conflict and leaves his armor as part of the victory rewards (Chapters 113–118, 123, 142).

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

When older Baronar later watches the Orc Dominion within the Spirit World, he explicitly says that neither Barca nor Orobak is the Orc King's present identity and that the displayed duel differs from the real past. Orobak's appearance in this phase is therefore retrospective and reconstructed, not a resurrection or proof that the scenario's exact death happened historically (Chapter 579).

Appearance and personality

Orobak stands over two meters tall and wears black plate armor with a horned helmet that leaves his eyes visible. He is shown with formidable Orc weapons, including a black spear and a greatsword. His speech and choices mark him as possessive, vindictive, and confident in status and strength; his contempt for Barca and certainty during the Duel also make him vulnerable to an opponent who plans around that pride (Chapters 107, 115–118).

Orc warlord abilities

Orobak's combat kit includes Rending Strike, Berserk, Primal Slash, and Last Stand, supporting a greatsword-centered style built around heavy damage and persistence. His initial Rank 4 Alpha standing rises to the Rank 5 threat used for the scenario's climax. His armor adds battlefield effects such as war cries, presence, and bloody fervor, but those are properties of his equipment rather than innate Orc abilities (Chapters 99, 118, 123, 142).

The chieftain's weakness is tactical rigidity. He can overpower ordinary foes and withstand prolonged direct fighting, but Duel draws him into a prepared area and knockback denies him stable ground. Heavy armor and physical might do not solve suffocation in quicksand, so Lux's party defeats a statistically superior boss by controlling position rather than matching him blow for blow (Chapters 115–118).

Relationships

  • Barca: Orobak treats Barca as both political rival and reminder of an old personal rejection. Their reconstructed struggle defines the Orc Dominion scenario (Chapters 107–108, 579).
  • Tanabur and Baronar: Both are among the warlords connected to his rule, although rivalry and later defections prevent Orobak's command structure from remaining unified (Chapters 99, 105).
  • Lux: Lux does not defeat Orobak through equal brute force; he orchestrates the positional trap that converts Duel and knockback into the chieftain's death (Chapters 115–118).
