Sun Heuk-sin
Sun Heuk-sin is a viscount, senior member of the Mirror Faction, and lover and follower of Ja Soo-jung. The Tower Master's trauma presents her as both a survivor of political and religious violence and a perpetrator who consumed hundreds of people. A counterfactual scene later shows a better life she might have led; it is not a continuation of the historical Sun shown at the council.
Biography
From captive rebel to faction chairman
Sun alone survives when the Apathetic Duke suppresses her family's rebellion. Seeking revenge against the duke and kingdom, she joins the Black Witch and learns the Ritual of Darkness, devouring more than three hundred people before Ja Soo-jung captures her. She is initially reduced to the victors' plaything, regains her intellect after six months, and is freed, though her cannibalism continues. Ja Soo-jung nevertheless makes her a lover and trusted chairman within the Mirror Faction, where hostility from other nobles reinforces Sun's commitment to the people who accept her criminal past. At the council, Sun backs her comrades when Ja Soo-jung's ducal candidacy is attacked. She remains silent when Ja Soo-jung accepts responsibility for the faction's harms and introduces the Golden Rule.
