Dae Ha-ran is a former Platinum General and the youngest disciple of Ja Soo-jung. An accomplished commander with a history of mass killing, Dae joins the faction that gives their military purpose a place after the royal army is dissolved. Biography

A general seeking an army and a patron

Sixty years before the noble council, Dae leads the royal army in suppressing a major rebellion. The operation kills sixty thousand combatants and raises the total to roughly two hundred ten thousand when civilian deaths are included. The rebellion is later exposed as a royal fabrication, the army is disbanded, and Dae loses the institution that defined their expertise. Dae argues that relying solely on noble armies will doom the kingdom and at one point plans rebellion, but Ja Soo-jung instead accepts the former general as her youngest disciple. Dae becomes one of the faction's bluntest defenders, threatening opponents and laughing at their political discomfort.
