Melody

Melody is an Alphen-born Holy Maiden whose healing, blessings, and oracles make her a symbol of hope on two worlds. She reaches Earth as the chosen servant of the goddess Aria and seeks military aid for Alphen, but her encounters with Kang Woojin force her to reconsider both his legend and her own absolute obedience. After defying a destructive oracle and losing Aria's Holy Power, she governs Sauraus Colony and tentatively begins a different priesthood connected to Thrash. (Chapters 21, 30–31, 35–46, 56, 77–91)

Biography

The Holy Maiden on Earth

Before arriving on Earth, Melody is known on Alphen as the Church of Aria's Holy Maiden and “Seventh Highest.” The coalition sacrifices heavily to assemble a Dimensional Proof for her, hoping she can find outside help. When she loses her Domain through inexperience, she follows divine guidance rather than continue a losing Dimensional Battle: she dismantles the proof, uses one recovered fragment to purchase a dungeon, and travels through that connection. The choice costs her lordship and part of the coalition's scarce dimensional resources, but it succeeds in placing its most important religious emissary on Earth. (Chapters 21, 56)

Titan Guild gives Melody and her followers an entire floor, public protection, and material support while she adapts to Earth's language and technology. In exchange, she heals believers, shares foresight that helps Titan acquire valuable dungeons, and openly spreads worship of Aria. Her miracles cause conversions to grow rapidly, particularly among patients and their families, and Dr. Hamilton becomes her principal attendant. Melody's dependence on belief means the church is not merely ceremonial: at this stage, people who reject Aria cannot communicate through her borrowed divine voice or receive the full benefit of her miracles. Her spiritual authority consequently begins to compete with Deacon's institutional leadership inside Titan. (Chapters 30–31, 35)

Seeing Woojin in Earth's media shatters Melody's composure. She remembers the Immortal as the Necromancer whose army devastated Alphen, and initially fears that her presence has violated their old non-aggression arrangement. At the international consortium she abandons her usual majestic bearing, kneels before him, and tries to prove she has not entered his territory as an enemy. Yet her oracle also identifies him as the savior she must guide. Melody therefore supplies knowledge of Dimensional Fragments, lends him a fragment she intended to use for Alphen, and helps form the Titan–Alandal alliance. Fear makes the cooperation uneasy, but the possibility of saving her world outweighs her pride and distrust. (Chapters 35, 37–41)

Aria's instruction that Melody go to the Immortal turns that temporary alliance into a change of allegiance. Melody leaves Titan's headquarters while preserving its Church of Aria under Dr. Hamilton as bishop, then follows Woojin despite the instinctive hostility of his undead. During the Middle East campaign, she sees him protect people whom he has no need to impress. She later apologizes for treating him only as a butcher and refusing to see him as human. That admission does not erase her memory of the Immortal's atrocities, but it replaces reflexive condemnation with a conflicted judgment: he remains terrifying, yet may still be Alphen's necessary rescuer. In Korea, Melody delivers evidence for Woojin's confrontation with corrupt officials and supports the meaning he gives Alandal as “the monarch's land.” Her more distinctive contribution is explaining Dimensional Domains from personal failure. She warns that visitor defenses are insufficient, describes how lordship can consume energy, and gives Woojin an example of abandoning a Domain before it destroys its owner. She also recognizes Kang Sooah as a God's Seed because Melody survived the same awakening in childhood. Although she cannot identify which god is calling Sooah, she can use Aria's power to help the child awaken without losing her mind. (Chapters 49, 52, 54–59, 65)

Aria's oracle and a new priesthood

Melody becomes Alandal's principal healer during the expanding dimensional war. She restores Hong Sunggoo's wounds and magical stability during Sharot's invasion, supports field parties in Europe, and keeps an Alphen expedition fighting far beyond its normal endurance. These campaigns change how her companions rely on her: Sunggoo entrusts his life to her when Woojin is absent, while Do Jaemin grows close to her through shared raids even though his vampirism prevents her Holy Power from helping him. Her priority remains Alphen's salvation, but sustained work beside Woojin's people makes that mission personal rather than an abstract divine command. (Chapters 64–72, 75–76)

Returning to Alphen confronts Melody with the people who believed she had vanished or died. Coalition survivors initially assume Woojin kidnapped her and still regard the Immortal as their enemy. Melody neither denies his past nor repeats their simple verdict. She explains that he has sacrificed for their survival, helps gather people around Sauraus Colony, and mediates between the fearful heroes and their abrasive new king. Her joy at seeing Alphen's survivors is mixed with guilt over leaving them. As reconstruction progresses, she realizes that concern for Alphen's peace has become inseparable from concern for Woojin's own safety and ability to return home. (Chapters 77–79)

Melody travels with Woojin to Aria's temple because receiving its Holy Item will finally make her the official, complete Holy Maiden. The site proves stranger than traditional doctrine suggests, but Melody follows the divine energy deeper into the structure while Woojin separately encounters Aria's holographic systems. She emerges wearing Aria's Circlet, and the coalition expects her already unrivaled Holy Power to have strengthened. The achievement does not settle her faith. A later oracle tells her to burn Sauraus Colony's World Tree, an act that would sever Woojin's route between Earth and Alphen, and she cannot determine whether Aria intends to save him, obstruct him, or fulfill another outcome. (Chapters 79, 81–84)

For the first time in her life, Melody chooses her own conclusion over Aria's voice. She reasons that destroying the World Tree offers no clear benefit to either world and refuses to obey. Her Holy Power immediately drains away, leaving her at the same level but without the defining skill of a Holy Maiden. The Colony is then captured through another route, making the oracle's meaning even harder to resolve; Woojin judges that either choice would have endangered the Colony and tells Melody she did well. His response does not remove her guilt, but it gives her a new responsibility. He returns the circlet and appoints her administrator of Sauraus, trusting her commitment to Alphen rather than demanding continued divine favor. (Chapters 84–87)

Melody governs the Colony efficiently, using coalition soldiers and existing forces to gather Bloodstones rather than waste its Points. The loss of Aria's presence nevertheless leaves a painful spiritual emptiness, and she asks Woojin to grant her Thrash's blessing. He warns that he is not a priest and does not know whether the rite can work, then names her “the priestess of Thrash”; no immediate outward change follows. Later, however, Melody can see grieving souls and absorbs them as smoke when she reaches toward them. She thinks of a god who sends no oracles, but the text does not fully explain when this ability began or whether Woojin's improvised blessing directly caused it. (Chapters 87, 89, 91)

Appearance and personality

Melody is described as beautiful, with an elegant presence and a majestic bearing that makes her resemble an angel to her followers. Her voice is likewise considered beautiful once she learns to speak English without relying entirely on Aria's borrowed communication. She normally maintains a serene smile, graceful posture, and unflappable composure even after a sleepless night. Visible fear sharply disrupts that image: encounters with Woojin can leave her pale, shaking, hiccupping, or prostrating herself, making the gulf between her public sanctity and memories of Alphen impossible to conceal. (Chapters 31, 35, 37–39, 65)

Her early confidence sometimes carries an arrogant air, reinforced by followers who expect others to treat her as Aria's representative. Beneath that ritual authority, Melody is conscientious, emotionally sincere, and capable of revising a deeply rooted belief. She apologizes when she recognizes that fear led her to dehumanize Woojin, accepts responsibility for the consequences of refusing Aria, and continues serving Alphen after losing the power that defined her status. Her development is not a simple rejection of faith: she still longs for divine connection, but begins to distinguish devotion from surrendering every moral choice to an oracle. (Chapters 31, 35, 39, 44–46, 79, 84–89)

Abilities and class

Melody is initially an exceptionally powerful Holy Maiden and is assessed as SS rank during Alandal's expedition. Her abilities originate in Aria and operate through prayer, faith, and Holy Power rather than ordinary physical combat. After she rejects Aria's oracle, that Holy Power disappears even though her level remains comparable to an S-rank Awakened. Her later soul perception belongs to her post-Aria state, but its precise system, strength, and relationship to Thrash are not fully established within the supplied chapters. Miraculous healing

Melody can rapidly regenerate grave wounds, treat conditions that Earth medicine calls incurable, and stabilize depleted magical energy. In battle she serves as a rear-line lifeline, allowing fighters to recover and rejoin engagements that would otherwise exhaust or kill them. The power applies to living recipients who can receive Aria's influence; it is not demonstrated as resurrection of the dead. It also has categorical limitations. Jaemin's undead vampirism makes him incompatible with her healing, and Woojin's undead instinctively recoil from her Holy Power. After Aria withdraws the power, Melody cannot even wake the drugged Che Haesol, demonstrating that her earlier miracles were not an innate medical talent. Blessings and support magic

Aria's blessing increases the recipients' combat effectiveness, with one account describing a B-rank fighter rising to A-rank performance and some recipients exceeding that increase depending on unspecified factors. Melody applies blessings to individuals and groups while remaining behind the main formation, combining them with repeated healing to extend a party's operational time. Her support is powerful enough that Alandal divides her between vanguard and rescue plans, but it is not universally compatible: belief in Aria is required for her power to touch ordinary recipients, and her Holy Power interferes with Woojin's necromancy when they operate too closely. These restrictions make positioning and party composition important despite her high rank. (Chapters 30–31, 38, 41, 64–71, 75–76, 82)

Oracles and foresight

Melody receives rare divine messages and prophetic guidance from Aria. Her foresight helps Titan identify valuable high-ranked dungeons, while major oracles direct her to seek Earth, guide Woojin, and later burn the World Tree. The messages are not a controllable source of complete information: prayer can receive no answer, the wording may not reveal purpose, and Melody can misread the consequence of obedience or refusal. Aria's prophecies are treated by Melody as reliable, but the final World Tree command forces her to recognize that a correct prediction does not automatically tell her which action is morally right. Once she loses Aria's favor, she no longer has premonition. (Chapters 31, 38, 41, 44, 56, 79, 84–89)

Former dimensional lordship

The Alphen coalition combines three Dimensional Fragments into a proof that makes Melody a Dimensional Lord. She can access the Dimensional Store and use a dungeon as a tunnel between a Domain and a planet, but her inexperience allows opponents to drain her Domain Energy. She responds by dismantling the proof, receiving only two fragments back, then spending one to buy the dungeon through which she reaches Earth. The strategy demonstrates practical knowledge that later helps Woojin, yet the loss of the proof means this is former access rather than an ability she retains. (Chapters 39, 49–50, 56–57, 67, 79, 81)

Soul perception

After Woojin informally names Melody a priestess of Thrash, the rite appears to fail and grants no immediate visible blessing. By Chapter 91 she can see the dead as grieving souls and causes a soul to become black smoke and enter her hand when she tries to touch it. She is still learning and does not know how to comfort or direct them; unlike Aria, the god she associates with this state sends no guiding oracle. The chronology suggests a new priestly power, but the narrative does not explicitly define its activation, limits, or whether every effect comes from Thrash rather than another change in Melody. (Chapters 89, 91)

Melody also adapts rapidly to unfamiliar languages and technology. After arriving with no Earth experience, she learns fluent English, begins using computers, and later works within the Colony's point-based administration. The narration compares her language acquisition to something nearly supernatural, but it does not formally identify it as an Aria-granted skill. Her efficient Sauraus management is more clearly practical: she preserves Points by mobilizing existing soldiers and coalition forces to gather resources. (Chapters 31, 35, 81, 89)

• Kang Woojin: Melody begins terrified of the Immortal she knew as Alphen's enemy, even while Aria orders her to guide him. Fighting beside him changes fear into wary respect, apology, and personal concern. His acceptance after she defies Aria gives her a role independent of holy power, and she later asks him to mediate her approach to Thrash. (Chapters 35–46, 54–59, 65–89)
• Aria: Aria chooses Melody, supplies her miracles and prophecies, and structures her identity from childhood. Melody's refusal to burn the World Tree ends that power relationship. Whether Aria's command was hostile, protective, or designed around a foreseen consequence remains unresolved from Melody's perspective. (Chapters 21, 30–31, 41, 44, 56, 79, 81–87)
• Deacon: Deacon shelters Melody and benefits from her foresight, healing, and converts, while worrying that her church is eclipsing his control of Titan Guild. Melody preserves their alliance by leaving a bishop and church behind when Aria sends her to Woojin. (Chapters 30–31, 38–44)
• Doctor Hamilton: Hamilton begins as Melody's attendant and fervent convert, helps her investigate Woojin, and speaks for her ritual authority. Melody later names her bishop so the Church of Aria can continue at Titan after the Holy Maiden leaves. (Chapters 31, 35, 37, 44)
• Kang Sooah: Melody recognizes Sooah's divine awakening from her own childhood experience. She cannot identify the god calling the child, but offers to guide the transition so Sooah can become a Holy Maiden without being overwhelmed. (Chapters 59, 65, 74, 76)

• Bibi and Woojin's undead: Holy Power and necromancy are naturally antagonistic, so Bibi, Kiba, Shingshing, Jaenis, and the undead react to Melody with hostility or disgust.
