Graham

Graham is an Archmage among Alphen's surviving coalition heroes. His caution and defensive magic help preserve the Colony against overwhelming forces, while his instruction gives Hong Sunggoo practical control that the self-taught fire mage lacks. (Chapters 77–87)

Biography

Archmage of the Alphen coalition

Graham arrives while scattered heroes are trying to rescue survivors from destroyed towns. Faced with an unwinnable horde, he urges Tauric not to waste the life of Alphen's best remaining healer, then prepares to make a stand when Tauric refuses retreat. The appearance of Woojin's Undead Army terrifies him, and the mistaken enemies clash; Graham uses Blink and defensive magic to evade pursuit but is badly wounded before Melody heals him and proves that the Immortal's return is now part of the coalition's hope. (Chapter 77)

When several Dimensional Lords assemble an army far larger than the Colony's defenders, Graham argues for relocating or retreating while survival still permits another plan. He is not cowardly—the barrier he maintains is credited with preventing the flying attackers from ending the battle immediately—but he knows it cannot stop a Dragon's Breath and resents Woojin's late return as casualties mount. Even after the coalition chooses a last stand, Graham accepts the order to cover a retreat and continues defending until reinforcements arrive. (Chapters 81–83)

Graham then helps Hong Sunggoo stabilize dangerously unruly magical energy, scolding the fire mage for incomplete training before apologizing when he thinks he has insulted a dead teacher. His relief at the arrival of Jaenis briefly lifts the defensive burden. Daken Guild later imprisons Graham with the other Alphen leaders, but Woojin frees them, and Graham returns to the coalition rather than accepting Daken's imposed protection. (Chapters 83 and 86–87)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not supply Graham's age or detailed physical appearance; it shows him carrying a staff and identifies him by his Archmage rank. He is cautious, analytical, and willing to voice bleak assessments when others rely on hope. His magical status gives him some professional pride, but he can apologize when that pride leads him to speak unfairly, and his arguments for retreat consistently center on preserving people and future options. (Chapters 77 and 81–83)

Abilities and class

Graham uses Blink, a short-range teleportation spell that lets him disappear in a flash and reappear across open ground. He also deploys defensive barriers strong enough to keep aerial monsters from immediately overwhelming the Colony. Woojin's projectile breaks through his personal defense, while a Dragon's Breath pierces the large barrier effortlessly, establishing limits against concentrated high-tier attacks. (Chapters 77 and 82–83)

As an Archmage, Graham can diagnose unstable magical energy and guide another mage through recovery. He forces Sunggoo to sit, cycle his energy, and use a recovery technique to reinforce his weakened body. The corpus does not name the stabilization spell or establish whether Graham transfers magic, manipulates the patient's flow directly, or relies primarily on instruction. (Chapter 83)

Relationships

  • Tauric: Graham repeatedly urges Tauric to preserve lives rather than embrace sacrifice, though he ultimately supports the coalition's chosen defense.
  • Latasha: Latasha is a fellow hero and survivor. Graham disputes her certainty that the Colony tree is the true World Tree but still helps defend it.
  • Kang Woojin: Graham initially mistakes Woojin for an enemy and is defeated, later relies on his promised return, and is freed by him from Daken's imprisonment.
  • Hong Sunggoo: Graham stabilizes Sunggoo's magic and recognizes his potential to become an Archmage despite incomplete training.
  • Jaenis: Graham first assumes Sunggoo's teacher is conventionally dead, then realizes the teacher is a Lich. The two do not receive a direct instructional scene together.
