Fate-Defying Heavenly Orb

The Fate-Defying Heavenly Orb is a single-use resurrection relic formed through the Lunar Scourge from mutually opposed divine ingredients. Its normal rule is an exchange of one life and soul for another. Qi Yue’s use on Ling Shui Ruo produces an exceptional outcome only because both women carry linked portions of Lachesis’s original soul.

History

An incomplete resurrection hope

Moon Goddess blood, the Demon Emperor’s soul, and a Shura’s tear fuse through the Scourge into a fingernail-sized transparent orb containing holiness, evil, and hatred that should not coexist. Qi Yue explains that even this incomplete form could revive the dead, but the incomplete Scourge might restore Shui Ruo without all memories or senses. Touching it with the missing Sun God Orb would make its result equivalent to creation by a complete Scourge, so Ling Chen keeps the relic rather than risk an imperfect awakening. (Chapters 781–782)

Theft, completion, and the staged betrayal

At Godchild Peak, Qi Yue reveals that she has secretly taken the Orb and already possesses the Sun God Orb needed to perfect it. She claims she intends to use the completed relic for her own mother and refuses every demand that she return Ling Chen’s only hope of restoring Shui Ruo. The theft and apparent loss of the Orb intensify his break with her, although later revelations show this cruelty was part of a deception meant to direct the conflict against Qi Xing. (Chapters 808, 811–815)

A life-for-life exchange with an exceptional survivor

After Qi Xing’s defeat, Qi Yue brings the completed rainbow-colored Orb to Shui Ruo in the Fairy Fountain and transfers it through a kiss while offering herself as the exchange. Shui Ruo’s life and soul awaken and Qi Yue’s body disappears, consuming the relic. Qi Yue later explains why she did not die normally: Shui Ruo carries Lachesis’s human soul while Qi Yue carries its separated godly soul, so the linked souls awaken one another rather than completing an ordinary unrelated exchange. Qi Yue sleeps within Shui Ruo, regains consciousness after a week, and eventually reforms her own body. (Chapters 839, 848–849)

Abilities and properties

• Contradictory composition: The initial relic fuses Moon Goddess blood, the Demon Emperor’s soul, and a Shura’s tear through the Lunar Scourge, combining utmost holiness, evil, and hatred. The Sun God Orb perfects the result after the core has already formed. The Orb is not one of the Scourge’s fifteen socketed components even though the artifact supplies the fusion power. (Chapters 780–782, 811–812)
• Incomplete resurrection: Qi Yue says the early form can bring a dead person back, but missing Scourge completion may leave the revived target without some memories or senses. This warning is never tested because Ling Chen waits for a perfect result. It is therefore a stated capability and risk, not a demonstrated failed resurrection. (Chapters 781–782)
• Ordinary exchange rule: The completed Orb exchanges the user’s life for another life and the user’s soul for another soul. It does not create life without payment or generally reverse death for free. Under ordinary unrelated use, the donor is expected to disappear so the target can return. (Chapters 839, 849)
• Lachesis-linked exception: Qi Yue and Shui Ruo inherit the separated godly and human portions of Lachesis’s original soul. Their continuing link lets Qi Yue’s strength awaken Shui Ruo’s deceased soul without consuming Qi Yue’s soul; only Qi Yue’s body disappears, and exhaustion leaves her dormant inside Shui Ruo. This special compatibility does not establish repeatable cost-free resurrection for other people. (Chapter 849)
• Recovery after use: Shui Ruo awakens alive, while Qi Yue becomes conscious within her roughly one week later and uses Shui Ruo’s senses until her own power recovers. Qi Yue reforms an independent body after about half a year. Those later events are consequences of their shared soul history, not evidence that the consumed Orb remains active. (Chapter 849)
• Single-use current state: The physical rainbow relic disappears during the exchange. Ling Chen later detects only familiar residual light near the Fairy Fountain, and no second Orb or reusable charge appears by Chapter 850. (Chapters 839, 849–850)
