The Road South and the Fairy Realm

Xiao Feng Chen recounts that the Night Emperor died, his only descendant vanished, and the leaderless Night Demon Clan dispersed. This is an in-world historical report rather than fact confirmed by the narrator. When Ling finds him, Ye Wu Ya looks worse than a beggar: dirty, smelly, hunched, with a withered hand and the erratic manner of a mad old man. Ye Wu Ya is free-spirited, egalitarian, emotionally intense, and defined by devotion to his daughter.
