Seishan

Seishan is an orphan raised by Ki Song who spends almost a decade trapped on the Forgotten Shore before becoming one of humanity's strongest Saints. Her Aspect grants monstrous transformation and escalating authority over blood, while her Flaw condemns her to an unquenchable thirst for it. She repeatedly survives by protecting tightly bound communities—first the Handmaidens, then her adopted sisters—but that devotion ultimately makes her unable to kill those sisters when Asterion turns them against her. Biography

Protecting the Handmaidens in the Dark City

Seishan enters the Forgotten Shore as one of the orphan girls taken in and raised by the leader of Clan Song. She remains a Sleeper there for almost ten years, longer than any other known survivor, and becomes one of Gunlaug's five lieutenants in the Bright Castle. Her formal responsibility is the Handmaidens, a group vulnerable to abuse within the Host's hierarchy. Seishan protects them, secretly teaches them to fight, and becomes feared enough that Guards learn to leave them alone. (Chapters 142–145, 307–308, and 1856)

Her allegiance to Gunlaug is calculated rather than devoted. Seishan later explains that she followed him because his order offered the best chance to keep people alive, while her deeper aim is returning to the waking world and repaying Ki Song. She quietly allies with Nephis after Sunny leaves the Castle, serves as her spy, and uses Kido's craft to help weaken the Lord of the Dead. This choice preserves her own faction while preparing to replace a ruler whose protection has become an obstacle to escape. (Chapters 307–313)

When Tessai and the Guards prepare to destroy Nephis's faction, Seishan stands beside him until the moment an open battle seems inevitable. She then crushes his skull from behind with the Sunlight Shard, while the Handmaidens use concealed mundane knives to eliminate the unsuspecting Guards. The ambush ends the Castle's civil war without a final massacre between the two armies. Seishan bows to Nephis afterward and openly joins the coalition because their goals align, not because she pretends the betrayal was honorable. (Chapters 306–310)

Seishan helps kill the Lord of the Dead, leads the Dreamer Army's second line at the Crimson Spire, and reveals her first monstrous form when disarmed. She holds the formation with hammer, claws, fists, and fangs until the surviving humans reach the Spire. Only about a hundred Sleepers return, with Seishan barely alive and just a dozen Handmaidens around her. Her success is therefore both extraordinary and ruinously costly: she escapes the Shore, but most of the community she protected dies in the assault. (Chapters 313–333)

A daughter of Song in the Southern Campaign

After Awakening, Seishan returns to Clan Song and becomes one of Ki Song's adopted daughters in public as well as upbringing. Her decade of experience makes her resourceful and dangerous even before Ascension, while her grey skin and reputation for draining victims' blood earn fear alongside the title Blood Lord. She remains mindful of the Forgotten Shore survivors and recognizes Nephis, Sunny, and the others when their paths cross, but her duties now place her on the opposite side of the Great Clans' growing conflict. Seishan arrives in Antarctica as a Master beside Beastmaster, other Song champions, and a man Mordret calls her “bloodbag.” At the Black Skull she studies Valor's delegation rather than reacting to Mordret's spectacle, then fights Jet, whose dead body and soul-centered powers are an unfavorable target for a blood-dependent Aspect. The clash is interrupted by the Nightmare Gates, and Seishan falls into the desert with Jet and Sunny instead of achieving a clan victory. (Chapters 1103–1111, 1168–1184, and 1207–1208)

The three former enemies cooperate because the Gate Guardian and Nightmare Desert leave no other route. Seishan lends her claws against possessed Masters, shares water, follows Sunny's warnings about the enemy, and joins Morgan and the cohort's survivors rather than splitting away. When her arms are broken, she transforms and continues attacking with her teeth. Her abilities cannot stop a Great being from restoring its vessels, making the encounter a direct demonstration that blood loss and physical mutilation do not guarantee victory over a creature whose body is merely replaceable flesh. Her expedition crosses Godgrave's collarbone and is driven toward a great fissure by a displaced horde of Nightmare Creatures. The maneuver burns the route of retreat: her Awakened soldiers must reach and conquer the Citadel before the horde catches them, while she and Death Singer remove threats powerful enough to kill Saints. The victory establishes Seishan as both a battlefield commander and Citadel ruler, but she remains subordinate to her mother. Her Transcendent Ability strengthens the Blood Sisters around her and draws strength back from them, making the Seventh Legion an extension of her personal power. This mutual dependence reinforces an older pattern: Seishan is strongest when responsible for a close group, and her followers become stronger by accepting a bond to her. Choosing her sisters over the Raven Queen

Seishan continues commanding Song forces through Godgrave's shifting fronts, protecting her legion and supporting the queen's plans even when those plans expose the daughters to extreme danger. Her position under the Human Domain is influential but not sovereign. Blood ties broken by Asterion

Mordret's invasion brings Seishan, her sisters, Morgan, and Kai to the Lake of Tears. She uses every stage of her Aspect to hold the line: transforming to tear apart abominations, increasing enemy bleeding, staunching allies' wounds, drawing strength from spilled blood, and empowering her Blood Sisters. Even with these favorable conditions, the Saints exhaust themselves and lose the Citadel. Seishan chooses retreat when the battle between Asterion and Mordret makes continued defense suicidal, helping escort refugees toward Ravenheart. (Chapters 2809–2817)

The retreat exposes how completely Asterion has undermined their trust. Lonesome Howl reveals that she and four other sisters now serve him, and Beastmaster stabs Seishan when she tries to order a countermeasure. Seishan defeats all five because she inherited the core of Beast God's lineage, The Blood, which gives her authority over those who share that lineage. She cannot finish them, however. Appearance and personality

Seishan is an exquisitely beautiful woman with smooth grey skin, dark hair often worn in a long braid, scarlet lips, and eyes that can take on a predatory red glow. Her Aspect changes her appearance even in human form, making her seem elegant, regal, and subtly inhuman. On the Forgotten Shore she favors a wine-red dress, silver jewelry, and a graceful war hammer; as a princess and Saint she continues wearing crimson. Her monstrous form grows taller and rougher, with shark-like skin, elongated limbs, claws, secondary vertical pupils, and multiple rows of triangular fangs. She is reserved, pragmatic, patient, ruthless, and exceptionally difficult to panic. Seishan changes allegiances when survival or family requires it, but does not disguise those decisions as sentimental purity. She protects dependents, plans ambushes, recognizes impossible fights, and uses misdirection rather than chasing glorious victories. Her coldness coexists with a maternal role among her orphan sisters and Handmaidens; that loyalty is her strength and decisive vulnerability. Asterion's enthrallment later preserves her intelligence and cruelty while redirecting them against the people she had chosen to serve. Abilities and Aspect

Seishan's Aspect centers on blood, predation, mutual empowerment, and an early transformation-type Ability. By Transcendence its known stages let her become a monster, manipulate bleeding, grow stronger amid spilled blood, and transform chosen allies whose power feeds back into her. Beast God's lineage adds authority over other inheritors of that blood. Her kit scales dramatically on bloody battlefields but is constrained by target physiology, friendly fire, essence, her sisters' condition, and a Flaw that turns the same source of strength into an unending need. Predatory transformation

Seishan's Dormant Ability transforms her into a predatory humanoid monster, an unusually early transformation power that she already possesses as a Sleeper. Her body becomes larger and tougher, her limbs lengthen, claws extend, and her jaw opens into rows of fangs. The form supplies overwhelming physical strength and natural weapons: she breaks Nightmare Creature carapace with a fist, tears armored bodies apart, and continues fighting with her teeth after both arms are broken. The form does not grant automatic victory or invulnerability. Seishan is still wounded nearly to death at the Crimson Spire, has her bones shattered by a vessel of the Gate Guardian, and cannot prevent supernatural restoration by tearing flesh apart. Hemorrhage control

Her Awakened Ability controls the rate of bleeding. Seishan's Ascended Ability grants a scaling augmentation based on blood spilled around her.
