Beastmaster

Beastmaster, also known as Song Eunbin, is one of Ki Song's adopted daughters and one of the most feared Saints of her generation. She controls minds, creates multisensory hallucinations, and enthralls Nightmare Creatures, making her equally important as a battlefield commander and logistical architect. After resisting the Dreamspawn's return, she is herself taken into Asterion's Domain. (Chapters 1102–1110, 1187–1202, 1629, 2012–2024, 2305, 2781–2819)

Biography

Enchantress of the Antarctic expedition

Beastmaster entered the Antarctic conflict as a Saint of Song whose power could turn the continent's countless abominations into an army. She joined Seishan, Silent Stalker, and Song's expedition against Valor while also cooperating with the evacuation forces when common threats demanded it. Her ability to enthrall humans and monsters made her one of the few champions whom Madoc considered his equal, while her experience conquering the eastern Dream Realm made her a capable strategist rather than merely a magical asset. At the Battle of the Black Skull, Beastmaster fielded a horde ranging from Dormant vermin to Corrupted behemoths and attacked Valor's formation from behind their own senses. Her mental pressure forced Saint Tyris out of her Transformation and spread across roughly a thousand Awakened, though dividing her attention reduced the strength and concentration of the effect. She also fought Whispering Blade directly and helped Song survive Morgan's trap until the Nightmare Gates turned the clan battle into a struggle against the Chain of Nightmares. (Chapters 1185–1202)

When the desert became untenable, Beastmaster and her sisters withdrew from the race for the Tomb of Ariel. The Antarctic campaign demonstrated the scale and flexibility of her power, but also its limits: powerful mental resistance could delay her, controlling many targets weakened the pressure on each, and even an army of enthralled creatures could be ground down by disciplined Awakened and higher-Rank enemies. The infrastructure behind Song

In Ravenheart, Beastmaster's thralls were not used only for war. Nightmare Creatures hauled immense platforms, transported cargo, worked construction, and connected settlements across the River of Tears. Her labor force accelerated the expansion of the Song Domain manyfold and made her the logistical foundation of the East, a contribution that could not be replaced merely by killing more monsters or building ordinary Echoes. After Ki Song's death and the creation of the Human Domain, Beastmaster retained that function rather than becoming a displaced princess. She spent most of her time in Ravenheart, managed a major share of western logistics, and prepared newly captured Nightmare Creatures for construction and transport. Freed from her mother's court, she appeared more relaxed in a role that joined supernatural control to civic administration. (Chapters 2305, 2781)

War against the Lord of Shadows

During the Domain War, Beastmaster supported Song's armies with thralls, aerial forces, intelligence, and direct mental attacks. In a battle against the Lord of Shadows, she simultaneously slowed his thoughts with enchantment, filled all his senses with false Saints and false wounds, directed Nightmare Creatures, and attacked with a sling. Her sisters formed a wall around her because removing the enchantress would collapse much of their coordinated pressure. (Chapters 1845–1858, 1968–1970, 2006–2017)

Sunny exploited that dependence by distracting the other Saints and reaching Beastmaster with a separate incarnation. He knocked her unconscious rather than kill her because her logistical work was too valuable to humanity. The defeat forced Beastmaster and her sisters to reassess the Lord of Shadows, and they recognized that his choice to spare them was deliberate. Later, Ki Song nevertheless led them into the final catastrophe, where Beastmaster was nearly killed before Nephis healed her. (Chapters 2017–2024, 2258)

Beastmaster followed Seishan and the other sisters when they abandoned their mother for Nephis. That choice helped strip Ki Song's Domain of its heirs and gave Nephis leverage in the final duel. It also marked a change in Beastmaster's allegiance: she survived as a leader within the new Human Domain rather than dying as an instrument of the Raven Queen's war. (Chapters 2258–2259)

Defense against two Supremes

When Asterion returned, Beastmaster joined her sisters in recognizing that his Hunger Domain existed to consume its subjects rather than protect them. They agreed to fight for the Human Domain. At the Lake of Tears she committed Echoes, ground thralls, and flying abominations against Mordret's vessel army, personally helped hold the Gateway, and continued commanding defenders despite catastrophic losses. Her forces delayed a Supreme but could not defeat one. (Chapters 2781–2782, 2809–2813)

After Asterion intervened against Mordret, Beastmaster helped evacuate civilians with surviving thralls. During the exhausted retreat, however, she and four sisters succumbed to the Dreamspawn and tried to force Seishan to join them. Beastmaster used genuine affection and guilt as a mental weapon during the fight; Seishan defeated but spared them, then surrendered rather than kill her family. By the latest scene, Beastmaster is alive in Ravenheart and reporting to an enthralled Seishan, both acting under Asterion's influence. (Chapters 2816–2819)

Appearance and personality

Beastmaster is tall and slender, with fair skin, long black hair, red lips, and dark eyes. She usually wears elegant red clothing and possesses an allure so strong that simply seeing her makes people want to approach despite knowing the danger. Later she bears a scar across her otherwise mesmerizing face; rather than diminishing her beauty, it sharpens the unsettling contrast between her languid elegance and her violent power. She is poised, humorous, tactically experienced, and able to remain composed amid grotesque violence. Her light teasing coexists with a pragmatic understanding of infrastructure, war, and the value of skilled people. Beastmaster loves her sisters and recognizes Ki Song's failures, yet she also weaponizes emotion reflexively and, once enthralled by Asterion, uses that intimacy to break Seishan's resistance. The late betrayal is presented as the Dreamspawn's influence, not proof that her earlier loyalty was false. (Chapters 1103–1105, 2014, 2024, 2066, 2781–2819)

Abilities and Aspect

Enchantment and domination

Beastmaster can mesmerize living beings, draw them into a trance, intensify an alluring emotional presence, and ultimately dominate their minds. Direct eye contact is especially dangerous. Her control extends to humans, ordinary beasts, and Nightmare Creatures, producing enduring thralls who obey her commands in battle or labor. Her power is not automatic or irresistible. Strong mental defenses slow enthrallment, and spreading her attention across a thousand Awakened weakens what she can do to each individual. Sunny's mental resistance prevented rapid domination, while Asterion's successful control of Beastmaster demonstrates that her own mastery of minds does not make her immune to a Supreme mental Domain. Hallucinations

Beastmaster's Awakened Ability falsifies every sense inside a target's mind. Her hallucinations can reproduce sight, sound, smell, touch, taste, pain, and even a Transcendent presence, allowing one real attack to appear to come from several directions. She constructs them consciously, however, and can reproduce only qualities she understands. Sunny distinguished reality through shadow sense because Beastmaster did not know that sense existed and therefore failed to imitate it. (Chapters 2012–2017)

This power works alongside her broader enchantment rather than replacing it. In the same battle she burdened Sunny with a tranquil, intoxicating influence while generating false combatants and directing thralls. Maintaining several forms of mental manipulation and a monster army at once is possible for her, but resistant targets remain capable of acting and reaching her if her defenders fail. Thralls, command, and limits

Beastmaster controls large, mixed hordes of Nightmare Creatures, including ground laborers and winged combatants. She uses them as cavalry, siege forces, aerial screens, beasts of burden, construction engines, and evacuation transport. Thralls remain physical creatures: they can be killed, exhausted as a strategic resource, or overwhelmed by superior Ranks. Unlike Echoes, their deaths do not dissolve harmlessly, and no evidence shows Beastmaster restoring a slain thrall herself. (Chapters 1187–1202, 1629, 2075–2093, 2270, 2305, 2810–2817)

The corpus never clearly describes Beastmaster's Transcendent form. During the Black Skull battle Sunny could not tell whether she had transformed, and later fights continue to depict her in a human-looking body. Her formidable combat value comes primarily from mental pressure, thrall command, positioning, tactics, and ranged sling attacks; she can be rendered unconscious by a sufficiently strong opponent who reaches her. Ki Song and her sisters

Ki Song adopted Beastmaster, gave her the Beast God lineage, and raised her alongside Seishan, Silent Stalker, Lonesome Howl, Moonveil, Death Singer, and Revel. Beastmaster served her mother loyally until the Domain War showed that the Queen would spend her daughters' lives for victory. She then followed Seishan into Nephis's Domain. The sisters remained a political and emotional unit afterward, which made their mass enthrallment by Asterion especially devastating. (Chapters 1102–1103, 1776, 2258, 2305, 2781–2819)

Sunny, Nephis, and Morgan

Sunny first treated Beastmaster as a terrifying enemy, then spared her because killing her would cripple human logistics. Nephis healed her after Ki Song's final catastrophe and used that act to contrast her protection with the Queen's sacrifice of her daughters. Morgan was Beastmaster's opposing commander at the Black Skull and later fought beside her at the Lake of Tears. Asterion

Beastmaster remembered Asterion as charming and affable toward the Song children, but unnaturally disturbing. She agreed with Seishan that his subjects existed only to feed his power and initially chose resistance. After the Lake of Tears, despair, exhaustion, and his direct influence drew her into the Hunger Domain. Her latest loyalty is supernatural enthrallment; the corpus does not show her freely renouncing the Human Domain. (Chapters 2781–2782, 2816–2819)

Beastmaster uses a sling for ranged combat, launching shots powerful enough to matter in battles between Saints.
