Revel

Revel, known as Dark Dancer and Lightslayer, is the first of Ki Song's adopted daughters to become a Saint. Her command of true darkness makes her a natural counter to shadow and light-based fighters, while her inability to endure sunlight confines much of her life and military service to darkness. After the Domain War, she becomes Sunny's first Transcendent subordinate and leads the Shadow Clan's field operations. (Chapters 1856–1858, 1886–1905, and 2740–2743)

Biography

The ambush at Vanishing Lake

At the beginning of the Domain War, Revel acted as a senior among the Song princesses and presided over the council that committed their army to an aggressive campaign in Godgrave. Her bleak address did not promise safety; it argued that Song had to conquer a Citadel quickly so Ki Song could extend her Domain into the region. In private, Revel accepted the most uncertain part of the strategy: delaying Valor's progress with Moonveil, Silent Stalker, Lonesome Howl, and the Saint of Sorrow while Seishan pursued a separate Citadel. Revel claimed the Vanishing Lake Citadel first and orchestrated an ambush tailored to the strongest members of Valor's expedition. She isolated Sunny inside true darkness, suppressing his senses and much of his Aspect while fighting him with two of Mordret's Reflections, as her sisters attacked the other Saints. Sunny and his Shadows eventually destroyed the Reflections and forced her toward defeat, but Revel stalled long enough for Moonveil to invoke Ki Song's blood and extract their surviving force. Revel killed no Saint personally, yet the plan killed seven Sword Saints and left Song with a major numerical advantage despite losing the Citadel. (Chapters 1885–1905)

The Spine Ocean and the fall of Song

Revel later led the First Royal Legion into the Spine Ocean with Moonveil. Their ship and crew were destroyed, the Call of Nightmare blocked retreat through the waking world, and seven enemy Saints continued hunting them. Revel chose to pursue both strategic objectives rather than merely escape: she and Moonveil would thin the punitive expedition and seize the Citadel, even if Revel had to hold the enemy alone while her sister claimed its Gateway. They survived by using the ocean's horrors against their pursuers and returned grievously wounded with four enemy Saints dead. (Chapters 1992, 2069, and 2209–2212)

During the final battle of the Domain War, the Song sisters broke from their mother after Seishan chose her sisters' lives over Ki Song's cause and Nephis healed the dying Moonveil and Beastmaster. Revel survived the old Domain's destruction and afterward remained in Ravenheart, living in the lightless caves beneath the Jade Palace because of her Flaw. Although she was no longer a princess of a ruling clan, she continued serving the Human Domain as a night-bound military champion and cooperated with Sunny, Kai, Seishan, and Death Singer during the search of their childhood home. Elder of the Shadow Clan

When Asterion's influence began spreading through humanity, Sunny sought a Saint capable of leading the Shadow Clan in his absence. Revel initially rejected his request, but accepted the position of elder when he offered meaningful work, the Mark of Shadows, and a territory where the sun never rises. She immediately commanded the clan's Ravenheart operation during a coordinated assault on Asterion's sleeper cells, then helped confine thousands of captured followers on the Forgotten Shore. Her new role turned a reclusive former princess into the field leader of a clandestine force, although managing frightened and unruly prisoners proved less glamorous than war. (Chapters 2740–2747)

Revel could not join the daylight defense of the Lake of Tears, and during her absence most of her sisters fell under Asterion's influence. Her latest direct scene establishes that she retained her own judgment and the Mark of Shadows: she transported the Dark City's captives back to the waking world after their isolation had become strategically useless, reported that the prisoners reached the authorities, and decided to keep the Dark Castle moving because Asterion had learned that the Shadow Clan occupied the Forgotten Shore. She then parted from Jet with a warning that they might not meet again soon. (Chapters 2809 and 2830)

Appearance and personality

Revel is an exquisitely beautiful woman with alabaster skin, raven-black hair, and eyes likened to obsidian gems. She usually wears dark clothing and speaks in a subtle, slightly husky voice. Her cold features and deep gaze can seem forlorn, while her Transcendent form is nearly four meters tall, with curved obsidian horns, black leathery wings tipped by spikes, longer hair, and entirely dark eyes. Publicly, Revel is aloof, taciturn, bleakly practical, and intimidating. She accepts lethal assignments without bravado, plans around failure, and remains fiercely attached to her sisters despite denying that she worries about them. Her private life is less severe: isolation in the Jade Palace leaves her untidy, surrounded by snacks and popular novels, and she proves capable of dry humor, embarrassment, and concern for captives placed in her care. Abilities and Aspect

Revel is a Saint bearing the lineage of Beast God. The corpus does not disclose the name or formal rank of her Aspect, but directly demonstrates control over elemental true darkness, a darkness-dependent physical enhancement, swift movement through that element, and a winged Transcendent form. Her power is exceptionally potent in darkness and severely constrained by her Flaw. (Chapters 1856, 1886–1905, and 2740–2743)

True darkness

Revel can flood a large area with true darkness. It extinguishes ordinary radiance and supernatural fire, consumes environmental shadows, blinds Sunny's shadow sense, and suppresses shadow-aligned powers. Within it, Revel can dissolve into the flowing element and coalesce elsewhere with near-instantaneous speed. Sunny also observes that her strength and speed appear to receive a powerful augmentation inside true darkness, although this explanation is his informed assessment rather than a disclosed Ability description. The field is not absolute. Saint, whose nature is compatible with true darkness, can perceive and thrive within it, and later overrules Revel's authority after becoming Supreme. Strong opposing light diminishes the darkness, while losing the Reflections supporting Revel reduces both her pressure and ability to maintain an otherwise favorable battle. Most decisively, Revel's Flaw prevents her from walking beneath the sun, forcing her to live underground, fight at night, and miss operations conducted in daylight. Transcendent form and combat

Revel's Transformation is a horned, winged demon-like body. Its wings function as weapons as well as means of flight: their sharpened edges and obsidian tips pierce Saint's armor, while Revel combines them with a long two-handed sword in a continuous, dance-like assault. The form supplies enormous physical power, reach, mobility, and resilience; she can fight Sunny at close quarters after losing her weapon and survive accumulated wounds that would incapacitate most combatants. It does not make her invulnerable, and concentrated damage, depleted essence, poison, superior elemental authority, or removal from true darkness can all reduce her advantage. Revel is also an accomplished commander and infiltrator. The Vanishing Lake ambush shows careful target selection, isolation, coordination with Reflections, and a prepared extraction, while the Spine Ocean campaign shows her using terrain and hostile creatures to destroy a superior expedition. As Shadow Clan elder she leads clandestine Awakened teams, uses darkness to cover their approach, and transports captives between worlds. Relationships

• Seishan: Revel treats Seishan as a sister and co-strategist. Their understated coordination begins at Song's war council, and Revel later helps Sunny search the Jade Palace alongside her. When most of the sisters are enthralled, Seishan's private hope that Revel remains safe reflects the exceptional danger of Revel's absence from their group. (Chapters 1857–1858, 2305–2309, and 2818)
• Moonveil: Moonveil is Revel's closest demonstrated partner in the Domain War. They fight together at Vanishing Lake and survive the Spine Ocean after losing their entire crew; each is prepared to risk death for the other's objective, and Moonveil refuses to accept a plan that simply abandons Revel to die. (Chapters 1885–1905, 2069, and 2209–2212)
• Sunny: Revel first meets Sunny as the opponent her darkness was designed to counter. After the old Domains fall, hostility becomes wary cooperation, and Sunny recruits her as the Shadow Clan's elder because her power, judgment, and Flaw suit the Forgotten Shore. Their latest relationship is an irreverent but functional lord-and-lieutenant partnership. (Chapters 1885–1905, 2305–2309, and 2740–2747)
• Jet: Revel and Jet cooperate in the crisis surrounding Asterion. Their latest farewell combines professional trust with dark humor: Revel releases the captives, prepares the wandering Dark Castle, and warns Jet to retain her humanity during a dangerous solitary journey. (Chapter 2830)

Items

Revel fights with dark armor and a long, curved two-handed sword, both of which withstand Transcendent combat but are damaged during her battles. Their names, ranks, enchantments, and latest condition are not supplied. She also has brief custody of the Black Beast Locket, using it to move the Dark City's prisoners to the waking world and stating that she intends to return it; the locket belongs to Effie, not Revel.
