Brock

Brock is a brorilla who leaves his pack to become stronger and grows into an independent cultivator whose Dao turns the trust he builds with others into shared power.

Biography

Harambe's son and Jack's little brother

Brock first appears as Harambe's small son, a level-2 brorilla whose variant resembles a gymonkey and is often shunned by other brorillas for lacking their bulging muscles. When Harambe decides to remain with his pack, Brock leaves with Jack, eager to see the wider world and grow strong enough to make his father and mother proud. He comes to call Jack “Big Bro,” and the two form a close bond as they travel from the Forest of the Strong into human society. (Chapters 31–33)

Brock's first idea of strength is physical. He watches Jack train, works out while Jack sleeps, and compares his own body to the stronger people around him. The comparison hurts: Brock believes his father sent him away because he was weak, even though Harambe had described the separation as being for Brock's own good. Jack encourages him without treating him as a burden, and Brock's practice gradually makes him more muscular and confident. (Chapters 60–82)

Brock also begins extending his idea of strength beyond himself. He gathers a small group of stray dogs and takes responsibility for them, teaching them to exercise and standing up for them when people threaten them. He is still learning how to judge danger, but his instinct to protect others is already taking shape alongside his physical training. (Chapters 82, 100–101)

A path beyond brute strength

As Jack enters the wider System world, Brock travels with him but remains classified as a monster rather than a normal cultivator. He can gain battle experience and Dao insight, but the System eventually stops his level progression at 37. Brock keeps training and fights beside Jack through the Trial Planet, where he carries the Staff of Stone and learns to use it with his strength. The plateau frustrates his ambition, but it does not end his development: his understanding of his own body and Dao continues to deepen. (Chapters 107–135)

During a Trial Planet challenge intended to test E-Grade cultivators, Brock faces an obstacle course and a series of trials built around density. He uses his Big Thought of Muscle to keep his balance on swaying poles and to lift a boulder despite exhaustion and fear that failure would leave him useless to Jack. The trial forces him to recognize that his fear of being discarded is driving him harder than his own judgment. (Chapters 174–175)

In his breakthrough, Brock confronts an imagined version of his father and rejects the idea that his worth depends on matching other brorillas' size. He insists that his muscles are strong even if they are not the largest. He then faces the Big Thought of Muscle itself, learns to meet it as an equal rather than submit to it, and fuses it into his soul. His memories of helping others and following the Bro Code crystallize into the Very Big Thought of Brohood. The change greatly strengthens him and gives him a path of his own, distinct from Jack's fist-based cultivation. (Chapter 186)

Turning brotherhood into a Dao

Brock's Very Big Thought gives him a way to act even when he cannot communicate easily with words. In the Beast Garden, he befriends its animals, asks for directions, and speaks with the sphinx Eterazel instead of treating her as an obstacle to the treasure she guards. He explains that he wants to live according to his path, help his friends, and go where he is needed; his questions also prompt Eterazel to consider whether she wants a life beyond guarding the garden. Their exchange reflects Brock's view that friendship is built through respect and attention, not just shared strength. (Chapters 201–202)

Brock's conception of brotherhood becomes more demanding as he travels with Jack. To him, a bro is not simply a member of an existing group: it is a way of treating people with respect, helping strangers, and continuing to improve after failure. His willingness to trust others and put himself at risk becomes central to the way he chooses allies and confronts conflict. (Chapters 208–213)

By the time he fights Alexander Petrovic on Earth, Brock has developed four Big Thoughts: Muscles, Density, the Staff, and Never Stopping. He uses them together to make the Staff of Stone move faster and more precisely than Alexander expects. Brock fights because Alexander had injured Harambe, killed three brorillas, and harmed Brock's friends; he refuses Alexander's offer of food and status in exchange for abandoning Jack. When Alexander calls for reinforcements, Brock rallies other cultivators as “bros,” turning a force that looked like scattered soldiers into an alliance willing to fight beside him. (Chapters 314–315)

In the middle of that war, Brock and Alexander break through to D-Grade. Brock's Big Thoughts combine around his Very Big Thought of Brohood, which he understands as a Dao built from power, effort, respect, and perseverance. His golden presence strengthens the resolve of those fighting around him, while the Bro Code takes shape as a book drawn from his understanding. The breakthrough formalizes Brock's own path: his strength comes from physical cultivation, but also from the bonds he builds and the shared purpose those bonds make possible. (Chapters 316–318)

From late D-Grade to the Cathedral's cultivator

After the war, Brock stays with Jack and the Bare Fist Brotherhood, continuing to train rather than relying on his reputation. He clears D-Grade dungeons and reaches late D-Grade, then advances to C-Grade. In the Cathedral, Brock insists on entering the Ceaseless Murder Globe even though he has no Dao stone or recommendation. He accepts the Envoy's wager, defeats the Globe's first C-Grade opponent, and earns a place as an outer disciple. This is a choice to test his own foundation instead of remaining in Jack's shadow. (Chapters 325, 356, 359, 371)

Brock continues to develop his Dao through practice, combat, and time with the people around him. He trains in the Cathedral and spends time recruiting disciples into brohood, inviting them into a way of life rather than demanding obedience. His efforts make the Cathedral less isolating for those who respond to him, while his own cultivation continues to advance. (Chapters 342, 356–371)

During the hidden-realm expedition, he protects Jack and Min Ling through dangerous encounters, including the passage through a lava cavern. When Min Ling saves them, Brock calls her “big sis” and promises to remember the favor. His willingness to treat a trusted ally as family extends his understanding of brohood beyond the original group. (Chapters 388–394)

An inner world built from brotherhood

When Brock reaches B-Grade, his inner world forms around his Dao. A golden temple appears at its center, surrounded by brorilla phantoms that chant and act together. As the world expands, flaws open in its laws; the phantoms work together to patch those gaps, allowing the inner world to continue growing. Brock reaches 8,800 miles, breaking the previous record discussed by the observers. The scene gives physical form to the principle at the heart of his Dao: coordinated effort can sustain more than any one participant could manage alone. (Chapters 470–472)

Brock keeps advancing through the B-Grade. After sharing a space-monster core, he rises three levels and reaches middle B-Grade; later, he absorbs a compatible peak A-Grade core and enters late B-Grade. He then reaches A-Grade. Even at these levels, he remains attentive to the people he has recruited and the trust they place in him. His personal cultivation and his responsibility to his “bros” remain tied together rather than competing goals. (Chapters 486, 490, 516, 542–545)

His strength is tested against other elite cultivators as his reputation grows. In a public duel with Starhair, Brock uses his staff, golden aura, and manifested brorillas to keep pace with an opponent whose Dao initially lets him evade Brock's attacks. Brock adapts his timing and range instead of relying on raw force alone, demonstrating how his cultivation blends physical training with tactical control. (Chapter 491)

Sharing power in the final war

During the final conflict with Enas, Brock gathers the cultivators around him through the ties of brohood. His golden light forms connections to them, and they willingly channel their remaining power through him. Brock becomes a conduit for that combined strength and directs it to Jack, giving Jack access to a power he could not have produced alone. The process leaves Brock exposed and strained; it is a temporary act of trust and sacrifice, not a permanent change to his own rank. (Chapters 558–559)

Brock’s call works because the bonds he has built are mutual. The cultivators respond to his voice and give up the strength they need to continue fighting, while Brock accepts the risk of carrying their power through his own body. His breakthrough is therefore an expression of the Big Thought of Brohood that he developed after rejecting comparisons with his father: strength is shared and returned through trust, rather than held by one person alone. (Chapters 186, 316–318, 558–559)

After Enas is defeated, the borrowed power no longer defines Brock’s state. He formally reaches S-Grade and remains Jack’s equal companion as they choose to explore beyond the known universe. Their departure extends the pattern that has shaped Brock’s life since he left his pack: he uses his strength to help create a world where others can grow, then takes on the next uncertain journey beside his brother. (Chapter 560)

Appearance and personality

Brock is a male brorilla from planet Green. His variant resembles a gymonkey and is often shunned by other brorillas for its lack of bulging muscles, though the System's description says the variant is not weaker than other brorillas. When first introduced, Brock is small enough to sit on Jack's shoulder; he later grows into a heavily muscled fighter. He wears red shorts and is frequently seen with the Staff of Stone. (Chapters 31, 72, 128, 314)

Brock is affectionate, brave, and openly enthusiastic. His early speech is limited, so he often relies on gestures, expressions, and monkey sounds; as his understanding develops, he speaks more readily. He prizes physical strength but comes to reject size as the measure of worth. His sense of humor and simple phrasing persist alongside a thoughtful commitment to respect, loyalty, and helping others. (Chapters 60, 82, 186, 201–202)

Abilities and cultivation

Brock's power grows through physical training, Big Thoughts, and cultivation of the Dao of Brohood. His combat style combines close-range strength with staff techniques and the ability to coordinate power with other cultivators. His Big Thoughts are not separate, interchangeable attacks: they are concepts that frame how he trains, fights, and understands his Dao.

Brorilla body and Big Thought of Muscle

Brock's body is naturally strong, but he makes it stronger through years of training. The Big Thought of Muscle lets him consciously coordinate his body, including muscles that are not normally visible or thought of as important. During Eterazel's trial, he uses this control to recover his balance on swaying poles and to lift a boulder under pressure. His breakthrough fuses the Big Thought into his soul, strengthening both his physical and mental capacity beyond what ordinary muscle growth could explain. (Chapters 65, 82, 174–186)

Brock's development is not simply a matter of becoming larger. His breakthrough teaches him that his body need not match his father's or the other brorillas' size for his strength to be real. Later, his cultivated body can withstand increasingly powerful battles, though higher-Grade opponents can still overwhelm him and his durability is not limitless. (Chapters 186, 314, 394, 539)

Big Thoughts and the Dao of Brohood

By the Earth war, Brock has four Big Thoughts: Muscles, Density, the Staff, and Never Stopping. Muscles represents effort and power; Density lets him apply force and control through his cultivation; the Staff extends his body and intent into the world; and Never Stopping is his commitment to recover from failure and continue improving. The exact acquisition chapters for Density, the Staff, and Never Stopping are unknown. Brock integrates these concepts under the Very Big Thought of Brohood, which becomes his Dao. (Chapters 186, 314, 316)

The Dao of Brohood expresses itself as a golden aura and a presence that can encourage others to stand and fight. In battle, Brock can manifest brorilla phantoms that attack or defend alongside him. His aura does not compel everyone: Alexander, whose emotions have been frozen by his Dao, resists its influence. At the Cathedral, Brock invokes this power to draw willing energy from other cultivators; their contribution strengthens the collective formation without erasing their individuality. The more consequential use during the war against Enas extends this principle across space and time, letting Brock channel the power of those connected to him into Jack. This channeling requires the others' trust and leaves Brock vulnerable while he maintains it. (Chapters 317, 470, 481, 522, 527, 555, 558–559)

Staff of Stone and the Bro Code

Brock's principal weapon is the Staff of Stone, whose weight adjusts to match its wielder's strength up to a limit of one thousand points. He first favors it because it matches his strength and physical style; with the Big Thought of the Staff and the Dao of Density, he learns to use both ends, change its momentum, and attack from shifting angles. By the Cathedral period, Brock is nearing the staff's adjustment limit, and its weight can no longer keep pace with his growing strength. He continues to use it in later fights. (Chapters 135, 174, 314, 356, 527)

The Bro Code is the set of principles Brock understands and later manifests as a golden book. It is not just a written rulebook: the Code becomes fused with his soul as part of the Very Big Thought of Brohood, and the book appears as an expression of that Dao. It can reinforce Brock's presence and help him direct the power of his brothers, though the rules and limits of this effect are not fully specified. (Chapters 186, 316–317, 356, 558)
