Min Ling

Min Ling is a renowned cultivator whose exceptional talent and leadership make her a central ally to Jack after they meet at the Cathedral. Their friendship grows into a spirited sparring rivalry, while Min Ling leads C-Grade expeditions and later fights as an Envoy of the Black Hole Church. (Chapters 361–555)

Biography

Cathedral Champion and C-Grade Leader

Min Ling is introduced as the Cathedral’s first-ranked outer disciple and one of its most exceptional cultivators. She is not simply a famous name: the Head Envoy chooses her to lead the C-Grades on an expedition into the hidden realm, relying on her battle strength and judgment to protect the group. She accepts the responsibility and conducts herself professionally even when working with Spacewind, whose pursuit of her she does not welcome. Her role places her alongside Jack as a peer rather than a subordinate, and their shared respect grows through danger and cultivation. (Chapters 361, 368, 384, 389–400)

Inside the Green Dragon Realm, Min Ling, Jack, and Brock face the trials together. She fights the large dragons with her spear and supports Jack when his cultivation grows unstable. After Jack chooses Brock’s safety over his own during the lava crisis, Min Ling understands the cost of that decision and helps the group survive. They then spend three years meditating in the realm. By its end, Jack has matured his fourth fruit, Brock has reached the same boundary, and Min Ling has developed her ninth fruit. They return as wanted fugitives, using disguise pills Min Ling has gathered to evade detection. (Chapters 389–406, 412–419)

Friendship and a Sparring Rivalry

Min Ling continues to meet Jack as his cultivation rises. She cheers his breakthrough to peak C-Grade and reminds him that they promised to spar once he reached B-Grade. Their agreement is a martial challenge, not evidence of a romantic relationship: Jack’s daughter asks whether Min Ling is pretty, and Spacewind mistakenly believes Jack is courting her, but Min Ling remains an independent friend and rival. She later supports Jack through his breakthrough, watching anxiously and defending his talent against Starhair’s insults. (Chapters 465, 468–473, 477)

When they finally spar at early B-Grade, Min Ling wants a true measure of her abilities against Jack, even though she expects him to be stronger. She pushes him with her spear, lightning, and fire, then activates her strongest form and demands that he answer with his own. Jack eventually reveals Thunder Body and nearly kills her before stopping his punch. Min Ling accepts the loss as fair and honors Jack’s strength; the spar deepens their respect without ending their competitive friendship. (Chapter 478)

Envoy and Front-Line Fighter

Min Ling becomes an Envoy and an honorary manager of the Death Boat, retaining her connection to the younger generation and the Cathedral’s leaders. By the time Jack returns to the Church, she has reached peak B-Grade. She helps coordinate the final war and speaks with Jack and the other Envoys between battles, balancing command with her place among the fighters. (Chapters 467, 486, 545, 548)

Min Ling also fights effectively against the Gods’ forces. During one attack, she uses energy supplied by a teammate to bring down an enemy A-Grade; she later joins the defense when a peak A-Grade threatens their formation. These scenes show her ability to work through a team rather than rely on her own Grade alone. Through Chapter 555, she remains an active combatant, alive and aligned with the Church’s effort to protect the universe. (Chapters 550, 554–555)

Appearance and personality

Min Ling is a pale-skinned, dark-haired woman who wears form-fitting armor and fights with a spear. She is spirited, competitive, and direct, but also disciplined and reliable when leading others. She accepts a clear loss without resentment and is willing to risk herself for her team. Her professionalism around Spacewind does not imply interest in him; she reacts coldly to his pursuit. (Chapters 378, 384, 478)

Abilities and cultivation

Min Ling’s strength comes from high-level fruit cultivation, spear combat, and the Daos of lightning and fire. She is both a precise close-range fighter and an expedition leader trusted to protect other cultivators. Her strongest form combines lightning and purple fire, greatly raising her power but consuming substantial energy. By Chapter 548 she is at peak B-Grade; no later grade advancement is confirmed. (Chapters 361, 389, 406, 478, 548)

Fruit cultivation and leadership

Min Ling has seven fruits by the Cathedral expedition and develops her ninth fruit during the three years spent meditating in the Green Dragon Realm. She is known for exceptional talent and battle strength, and the Head Envoy entrusts her with leading the C-Grades in the hidden realm. Later she reaches early B-Grade and then peak B-Grade. Her exact numeric Level, Class, and B-Grade breakthrough chapter are unknown. (Chapters 361, 406, 478, 548)

Spear, lightning, and fire

Min Ling’s spearwork uses rapid thrusts, feints, and flowing combinations that let her maintain pressure. At B-Grade, she can teleport around Jack and use a cage of sparks to intercept his punch; lightning then runs into his body, attempting to paralyze or slow him. Her strongest form surrounds her with red lightning and purple flames and makes space quiver around her. This form lets her pressure Jack, but it consumes tremendous energy; he can defend until her strength wanes. Her attacks and Daos are formidable, but Jack’s superior strength and durability ultimately decide the spar. (Chapter 478)

Relationships

• Jack Rust: Friend and sparring rival. They share the Cathedral and Green Dragon Realm arcs, support one another in danger, and test their strength in a promised B-Grade duel. Their closeness is not identified as romance. (Chapters 361–406, 465–478)
• Spacewind: Fellow Church Envoy who courts Min Ling, despite her cold reaction and lack of interest. His jealousy of Jack’s supposed advances creates tension between the men, but does not establish a relationship between Min Ling and Jack beyond friendship and sparring. (Chapters 378, 384)
• Sovereign Heavenly Spoon: Her master and a fellow Church leader. He is one of the Cathedral’s senior cultivators and supports her work as an Envoy and Death Boat manager. (Chapters 467, 486, 548)
