Master Ashen Pine
Master Ashen Pine is a mid-stage Nirvana Shatterer of the Treasured Jade Sect who organizes a treasure expedition into a Seven-Colored Realm. His century of preparation, nine blood nascent souls, and lightning inheritance make him formidable, but he deceives the expedition and is killed by Wang Lin after securing the dao essence he sought. (Chapters 1172–1229)
Biography
Auctioneer and recruiter
Master Ashen Pine presents himself as the genial host of a private Nirvana Shatterer auction on Peng Lai. He trades rare pills and thousands of origin crystals while quietly engineering conflict between guests. When Wu Qing pursues Wang Lin, Ashen Pine follows with divine sense, expecting to recover the crystals from the survivor. Wang's easy victory forces him to replace predation with respect on the surface. (Chapters 1172–1176)
He then offers Wang Lin twenty thousand origin crystals to join an expedition to a secret realm, after bargaining over payment. The invitation is part of a plan prepared for nearly a thousand years. Ashen Pine buys costly armor, gathers restriction specialists and powerful cultivators, and withholds the fact that the route is built around Sima Mo's trap and his own intended harvest. His resources and patience make the deception plausible even to experienced old monsters. (Chapters 1176–1187)
The Seven-Colored Realm
Inside, Ashen Pine guides the group through Lost Ones, Enlightened Ones, and restrictions toward stone tablets that process cultivated dao into black dao essence. Cooperation fractures as the expedition's true stakes emerge. He restores and strengthens his body through a lightning statue's inheritance, uses the group's knowledge to reach the essence, and prepares a secluded place where he can drink it and sleep through its dangerous assimilation. (Chapters 1187–1204)
Wang Lin confronts him after both sides have suffered injuries. Ashen Pine deploys seven remaining blood nascent souls and his lightning inheritance, but Wang's own thunder authority and a seven-colored nail pierce body and origin soul. Wang searches his memories and takes his storage space; Ashen Pine then loses reason, withers, and collapses into a blood bead. The treasure planner obtains no chance to enjoy the cultivation he tried to steal from the realm. (Chapters 1198–1204)
His memories continue to matter. They provide the exit method, routes, the nature of the dao essence, and the location of deeper dangers. A name jade in a distant palace breaks at his death and reforms with Wang Lin's name, linking Ashen Pine to mysteries larger than the expedition he believed he controlled. (Chapters 1203–1229)
Appearance and personality
Master Ashen Pine is an old man with a hoarse voice who masks calculation behind smiles and dry laughter. He is low-key within the Treasured Jade Sect despite having enough disciples, wealth, and authority to oppose its master. Patient, ruthless, and suspicious, he treats generosity as investment; loss of control eventually exposes madness beneath the carefully managed exterior. (Chapters 1172–1204)
Abilities and cultivation
Mid-stage Nirvana Shatterer
Ashen Pine's stable realm is mid-stage Nirvana Shatterer. He can threaten fellow old monsters and withstand exchanges that would kill lower cultivators, but serious injuries prevent full access to every prepared spell. Wang Lin's domain breakthrough and thunder advantage let a nominal Nirvana Cleanser overcome him, illustrating that realm alone does not cancel bloodline, treasure, and counter-technique differences. (Chapters 1172–1204)
Hundred Blood Origin Forms the Nascent Soul
This method creates nine blood entities analogous to nascent souls. Each can cultivate a different, otherwise incompatible spell, and together they increase comprehension speed ninefold. The separation greatly expands versatility, but every lost soul removes one branch of prepared power. An old woman captures one, leaving seven available in the final battle, and injuries prevent Ashen Pine from fully activating the techniques stored within them. (Chapters 1198–1205)
Lightning statue inheritance
One blood nascent soul worships and studies the realm's lightning statue, barely obtaining enough inheritance to reform Ashen Pine's body, create a lightning mark, and summon the seventh spirit of the Sealed Realm. The summoned spirit can injure Wang Lin's ancient-god body. The power is borrowed through submission to the statue rather than sovereign thunder control, so Wang Lin's ancient thunder authority can contest and absorb it. (Chapters 1203–1205)
Dao-essence process
Ashen Pine understands that Lost Ones devour dao, Enlightened Ones nourish it, and tablets use a bone scripture to extract black dao essence from a pinned skeleton. Drinking the essence causes sleep for an unknown duration, so he needs an absolutely secure resting place before using it. The mechanism promises growth but cannot serve as an immediate battle enhancement. (Chapters 1203–1204)
Relationships
- Wang Lin: Ashen Pine recruits him as a disposable specialist and counterweight, but Wang exposes the scheme, kills him, and uses his memories to navigate and escape. (Chapters 1172–1206)
- Chen Tianjun: Chen joins the expedition and, after seeing Ashen Pine die, treats Wang Lin as the only viable source of escape. (Chapters 1179–1204)
- Sima Mo: Sima Mo's jade and hidden realm underlie the expedition; Ashen Pine believes he can exploit that inherited route without becoming its victim. (Chapters 1184–1204)
Items
- Heaven Defying Bead: An imitation bead appears among the Seven-Colored Realm's deeper secrets; it is not Ashen Pine's personal source of power. (Chapter 1229)
- His Pseudo Nirvana Void crystal sword and sealed blue battle axe pass to Wang Lin after his death and are later consumed in stronger battles. (Chapters 1203 and 1223–1227)
