Chen Tianjun
Chen Tianjun is a Battle Beast Sect cultivator who joins Master Ashen Pine's expedition into a Seven-Colored Realm. His expertise in fierce beasts lets him survive where the others assume he has died, but a century of entrapment ends with his body destroyed and only half his origin soul carried out by Wang Lin. (Chapters 1180–1185, 1194–1202, and 1210–1229)
Biography
Expedition and the rank-twelve dragon
Chen Tianjun enters the Seven-Colored Realm with Master Ashen Pine's group, remaining outwardly calm while privately evaluating the expedition leader's secrets. When the party confronts a rank-twelve dragon, Chen claims its soul as his share. He envelops himself in ghostly light, enters through the dragon's head, and attacks from within while the other cultivators restrain the beast. He cannot absorb the entire soul, but receives the greatest individual harvest from the battle. (Chapters 1180 and 1182–1183)
The appearance of a Lost One exposes that Ashen Pine previously abandoned companions in the realm. Chen immediately withdraws from the expedition, only to discover that the paths have changed and the exit cannot be found. A fierce beast injures him, but his specialist knowledge allows him to escape and hide in a cave, disproving the group's assumption that he died. (Chapters 1184–1185 and 1194–1195)
Bargain with Wang Lin
After watching Wang Lin kill Master Ashen Pine, Chen asks to be taken out of the realm. He offers his Battle Beast Sect knowledge and agrees to extract origin crystals from the fog beasts in exchange. The work repeatedly brings him close to death, but he keeps the agreement. When Wang Lin becomes dormant, Chen spends one hundred years alone, gradually losing hope; once Wang Lin awakens, he delivers a large bag of the promised crystals and is told to wait for departure. (Chapters 1201–1202, 1210, 1217, and 1222–1223)
Escape at the cost of his body
At the exit, an enormous vortex descends. Chen releases more than ten beast souls, including two weakened rank-twelve souls, and joins the charge through the opening Wang Lin creates. His beast souls collapse and his body explodes under the vortex's power. Wang Lin responds to Chen's reminder of their promise and pulls on his origin soul; the struggle saves only half, while the other half is devoured. Outside the realm, the surviving half asks to be returned to the Battle Beast Sect, where his teacher may be able to save him, and Wang Lin agrees. (Chapters 1224 and 1229)
Appearance and personality
Chen Tianjun is a burly man. He is practical, wary, and alert to danger: he quickly recovers from the reincarnation pill's memory-inducing fragrance, abandons Ashen Pine after discovering the Lost Ones, and becomes cautious when stronger cultivators approach. He can also honor a difficult bargain, spending years harvesting origin crystals after the original hope of rescue fades. His repeated awe of Wang Lin is rooted in witnessed power and in the knowledge that his survival depends on Wang Lin's promise. (Chapters 1180–1184, 1202, and 1210–1224)
Abilities and cultivation
- Battle Beast Sect techniques: Chen opens the pores of his body to release and command stored beast souls. More than ten can surround him simultaneously, and his collection eventually includes two weakened rank-twelve souls. They attack as a coordinated pack and can be gathered around him for defense and a collective charge. (Chapter 1224)
- Soul entry and extraction: Against the rank-twelve dragon, ghostly light lets Chen pass into its head and work from within while allies attack outside. When the dragon falls, black gas leaves its melting head and Chen emerges having absorbed a substantial part of its soul. (Chapters 1182–1183)
- Fierce-beast expertise: Chen understands fierce beasts well enough to escape a rank-twelve pursuer and later steal origin crystals from fog beasts. The method is not safe—he nearly dies several times—but it gives him options unavailable to an ordinary cultivator of similar strength. (Chapters 1202 and 1210)
- Mental resistance: He recovers quickly from the reincarnation pill's fragrance, which forces memories into the mind, and remains motionless while a Lost One passes. These feats show discipline rather than immunity. (Chapters 1182 and 1184)
- Limits and injuries: Chen is the weakest of the four cultivators confronting the exit vortex. His beast souls are destroyed, his body collapses, and only half his origin soul survives Wang Lin's rescue. (Chapters 1224 and 1229)
Relationships
- Wang Lin: Chen bargains for rescue by gathering origin crystals. Wang Lin honors the agreement under extreme pressure, saves half his origin soul, and agrees to return it to the Battle Beast Sect. (Chapters 1202, 1210, and 1222–1229)
- Master Ashen Pine: Chen joins Ashen Pine's expedition but withdraws after learning that the guide concealed the Lost Ones and had abandoned earlier companions. (Chapters 1180 and 1184–1185)
- Battle Beast Sect teacher: Chen believes his teacher can preserve or restore his damaged origin soul and asks Wang Lin to take him back. The corpus does not show the reunion in this appearance set. (Chapter 1229)
Items
- Origin-crystal bag: Chen spends years gathering crystals from dangerous fog beasts and gives the filled bag to Wang Lin as payment for promised rescue. (Chapters 1210 and 1222–1223)
