Fan Shanlu — Renegade Immortal

Fan Shanlu is a Great Soul Sect cultivator, the younger sister of Fan Shanmeng, and a former concubine of the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign. Her apparent alliance with Wang Lin begins inside the cave world, but its meaning changes when he learns that her sister has trapped her in an illusion and spoken through her. Biography

The escape alliance

Fan Shanlu meets Wang Lin while both are fleeing the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign. She identifies herself as the sovereign's first concubine and explains that he injured her so severely that her cultivation has not recovered. She also reveals that Fan Shanmeng, her elder sister, was used as bait when the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign sealed the Seven Dao Sect. Because neither she nor Wang Lin can escape alone, she proposes an alliance: she will help the cave world's inhabitants reach the Immortal Astral Continent and introduce Wang Lin to the Great Soul Sect, while he helps her survive the pursuit. Her conduct during the flight makes the proposal credible. She holds back the seven-colored storm long enough for Wang Lin to cross a black hole, sacrifices a lion-like beast to divert their pursuers, and spends her own essence blood and soul power to resist the nine suns. On the crystal ship she helps maintain the remaining restrictions even though they are below one-third of their full strength. Each intervention leaves her paler and more exhausted, so the escape presents her as powerful but already damaged and operating close to her limits. (Chapters 1692–1694)

Fan Shanmeng's illusion

The alliance is not entirely Fan Shanlu's choice. A seven-colored vortex appears between her brows aboard the ship, cold spreads across the deck, and Fan Shanmeng manifests through her. Wang Lin later concludes that the younger sister has been caught inside Fan Shanmeng's illusion and used to obtain his Blood of Oath. What first looked like duplicity is therefore recast as stolen agency: Fan Shanlu is both the person who aided Wang Lin and a vessel through which her sister manipulated him. Remembering his agreement, Wang Lin returns for her. Because she possesses Immortal Astral blood, she can leave the cave world once released. She entrusts the Soul Devil Ship and its main sail to Wang Lin before returning through the Seven Dao Sect's passage, turning an alliance made under coercion into a debt she consciously acknowledges. Life in the Great Soul Sect

Back on the Immortal Astral Continent, Fan Shanlu is a core disciple of the Great Soul Sect, yet her long absence makes her feel like a stranger in her own sect. She remains grateful to Wang Lin and secretly brings him to the main earth-fire vein, despite the danger to her position. She opens the sealed entrance, suppresses the fire dragon guarding it, explains how the chamber's depth governs its heat, and prepares a cover story while he cultivates inside. (Chapters 1821–1822)

This return also forces her to confront Fan Shanmeng. When her sister tries to make her responsible for the disturbance, Fan Shanlu refuses. She explicitly recognizes that Fan Shanmeng used her and credits the earlier betrayal with awakening her from unquestioning loyalty. The refusal is a quiet but decisive recovery of agency: rather than remaining her sister's proxy, she chooses her own obligations and accepts the consequences of helping Wang Lin. (Chapter 1823)

Appearance and personality

Fan Shanlu is described as extraordinarily beautiful. During the cave-world flight she is pale, wounded, and visibly exhausted by repeated spell use. In the Great Soul Sect she wears pink and carries a subdued, depressed air, reflecting how alien the sect feels after her long confinement. She is cautious and capable of deception when survival requires it, but gratitude and a desire to choose for herself become stronger than her fear of punishment. (Chapters 1692–1694 and 1821–1823)

Abilities and cultivation

Injured Great Soul cultivation

Fan Shanlu is a high-level Great Soul Sect cultivator whose speed and reserves exceed Wang Lin's during their escape, even while injured. The Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign's earlier attack prevents her from displaying her undamaged peak, and her most forceful spells consume essence blood or soul power. Her pale face and repeated coughing of blood are functional limits, not merely visual details: prolonged pursuit steadily reduces what she can safely contribute. (Chapters 1692–1694)

Seven-Colored Jade Print

The green ring on her hand produces seven jade hands that arrange themselves into a circular print. The print can oppose the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign's storm and brace the walls of a contracting crystal prison, buying time rather than overpowering him. Its seven-colored connection also lets Fan Shanmeng transmit power through Fan Shanlu. That link strengthens the defense, but it is also the channel through which the elder sister intrudes upon her, making the technique inseparable from Fan Shanlu's compromised autonomy. Draw the Soul and blood sacrifice

Fan Shanlu can mark a spirit beast for blood sacrifice, causing its death and blood scent to attract other beasts as a diversion. Her Great Soul Dao also includes “Draw the Soul”: she draws on her own soul and essence blood to form a blood-red knife, then divides it into nine blades to meet nine incoming suns. The technique has broad interception power, but its cost is immediate exhaustion and makes it unsuitable for repeated use while wounded. (Chapter 1693)

Concealment and sect seals

Within the Great Soul Sect she releases a mist that obscures aura and interferes with divine-sense inspection, allowing her to move Wang Lin through restricted territory. As a core disciple she can open the earth-fire vein's red gate; a spoken command collapses the fire dragon guarding the passage. Her access does not grant immunity to the vein itself—she cannot remain in its deeper heat and has to wait outside while Wang Lin descends. (Chapters 1821–1822)

Relationships

Wang Lin: Their emergency alliance becomes a genuine debt after he recognizes her captivity and returns to free her. She later risks sect punishment to help him use the earth-fire vein. (Chapters 1692–1693, 1788–1789, and 1821–1823)
Fan Shanmeng: Fan Shanmeng is her elder sister, source of borrowed power, and captor. Being used as the medium of her sister's illusion ultimately causes Fan Shanlu to reject her control. (Chapters 1694, 1788, and 1823)
