Fan Shanmeng — Renegade Immortal

Fan Shanmeng is a Great Soul Sect cultivator, elder sister of Fan Shanlu, and former dao partner of the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign. A specialist in illusion, charm, and curses, she repeatedly treats other people as instruments—only to become an instrument of her teacher after returning home. (Chapters 1692–2000)

Biography

The Soul Devil Ship trap

Fan Shanmeng first reaches Wang Lin through Fan Shanlu. The younger sister appears to propose an escape alliance, but aboard the Soul Devil Ship a seven-colored vortex reveals that Fan Shanmeng has placed her inside an illusion and can manifest through her. She wants Wang Lin's Blood of Oath so her teacher can turn him into a puppet useful for killing the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign, her former dao partner. (Chapters 1692–1696)

She tempts Wang Lin with an ancient altar and assumes a cave-world cultivator cannot understand the ship's Immortal Astral restrictions. When he instead begins taking control layer by layer, contempt gives way to alarm. Fan Shanmeng weakens the ship's barrier to let the Seven-Colored Daoist pressure him and tries to recover control, but the trap reverses: the intended guest becomes the ship's host. Her failure rests less on lack of power than on arrogance and a willingness to underestimate knowledge acquired outside her world. (Chapters 1696–1702)

Return to the Great Soul Sect

After Wang Lin frees Fan Shanlu and reaches the Immortal Astral Continent, the sisters return to the Great Soul Sect under Yan Lu. Fan Shanlu rejects Fan Shanmeng's attempt to shift blame for the earth-fire disturbance and openly accuses her of years of manipulation. The confrontation strips away the elder sister's assumption that kinship guarantees obedience. (Chapters 1788–1823)

Yan Lu then orders Fan Shanmeng to curse Wang Lin to death. She invokes Fan Shanmeng's reputed charm, accuses her of cursing the Seven-Colored Celestial Sovereign and causing Lian Daofei's disappearance, and ignores her objections. Fan Shanmeng approaches Wang's mountain with outward softness and concealed resentment, waits for days in oppressive heat, and is reduced to cleaning his cave as a nominal maid. The manipulator of the ship now has little freedom before teacher or target. (Chapters 1828–1831)

The failed curse

For months Fan Shanmeng watches Wang Lin's seclusion and looks for a chance to fulfill Yan Lu's command. She advances toward the cave but stops before his fire essence true body; the Yi Si puppet detects her and attacks. Although she has passed seven Arcane Tribulants, fear and the puppet's superior speed force her back until Yan Lu intervenes. Wang Lin claims her as his maid, then leaves without giving her a chance to place the curse. (Chapters 1837–1840)

Fan Shanmeng remains in the Great Soul Sect in later years. Her survival does not erase the damage she caused Fan Shanlu or convert her into Wang Lin's ally. Instead, her arc mirrors the coercion she practiced: she is dangerous within illusion and curse arrangements, but repeatedly loses control when a stronger will understands the arrangement. Appearance and personality

Fan Shanmeng is beautiful and cultivates a deliberately soft, charming manner that can conceal cold or vicious intent. She can appear pitiful and produce tears when facing Yan Lu, but her teacher recognizes the performance. Pride, sensual charm, and manipulation are habitual tools; under genuine danger she becomes cautious and visibly fearful. (Chapters 1694–1702 and 1828–1840)

Seven Arcane Tribulants

By the Great Soul Sect period Fan Shanmeng has passed the seventh Arcane Tribulant. This gives her formidable speed and origin-energy reserves, but not parity with every elder-level construct: Yi Si overtakes her and forces retreat, while Wang Lin's essence true body makes her unwilling to attempt a curse at close range. Multi-layered illusion

Fan Shanmeng can trap another cultivator inside an illusion and use that person as a speaking and acting medium. Through the seven-colored vortex on Fan Shanlu, she manifests awareness and lends power to the ship's barrier. The illusion is deep enough to distort Shanlu's choices for years, but Wang Lin eventually identifies the mismatch and later frees the victim, showing that the control can be discovered and broken. Charm and curse arts

Her charm changes expression, voice, and demeanor to lower resistance; Yan Lu considers it one of her defining talents but is immune through familiarity. Her curse work is reputedly capable of killing a dao partner over time rather than through direct combat. It requires proximity, opportunity, and a target who does not already distrust her. Against Wang Lin, constant surveillance by his essence body and puppet prevents her from establishing those conditions. (Chapters 1828–1840)

Soul Devil Ship control

Fan Shanmeng can remotely contribute roughly thirty percent of the Soul Devil Ship's power, reinforce its barriers, and alter them during pursuit. She does not fully understand its many-layered restrictions and cannot stop Wang Lin from taking ownership of successive decks. Her authority is therefore access inherited through the Great Soul Sect, not complete mastery of the treasure's restriction system. (Chapters 1694–1702)

Relationships

Wang Lin: She tries to obtain his oath and later curse him; he exposes the ship trap, frees her sister, and neutralizes her later approach without treating her as trustworthy. (Chapters 1694–1702 and 1828–1840)
